Both the oils are available at the svcs since the inception
It was released with the idea of there should be two types oils mineral and synthetic and people should buy according to their taste
But the thing they got more revenue out of motul so they started ditching the synthetic one
Untill came a time where people were demanding to put synthetic then few svc brought the idemitsu forward
They are svc specific and both are endorsed by suzuki
You have to find which svc keeps the idemitsu
I have used mineral on my 3 services and now running on idemitsu after 4th servicing
And there is a commendable difference in smoothness in general

It seems to be OEM specific issue rather than customer issue. The leakage source seems to be this cap on top of crankcase, the one which has a black wire coming from it. Probably it will have an o ring which is going bad due to oil pressure increase. Buy 3-4 rings in spare and replace when it goes bust. At present you can use a small layer of RTV sealant around o ring for proper seal . Also check oil levels constantly as it will cause more problems.
See the Pic, just now checked after you are telling me to check oil level. Its completely filled. means above the level. is it recommended? is it cause of excess oil filled by mechanic?

The mechanic i presume has filled a bottle of engine oil
The bottle has 1 litre of engine oil and a litre of engine oil is not enough to top it up so much that it will cover the whole examination window
And highly unlikely he will pour excess oil
Please be sure to observate while the bike is on double stand and on a flat surface
Any tilt will throw away the results

Anyone fitted steel braided lines in gixxer ?? Pulsar 220 has it and I was wondering if it's a direct fit or not , although brake caliper and rotor sizes differ, does the line output also differ??

As other Gixxer rider has pointed out in this same thread on Page No. 629, I'm quoting his post below. Please tell how much is it true?. Does the ASC guys aware of this?

There is a difference between Engine oil capacity vs Engine refill capacity. Specific to your Gixxer 155CC, the Engine oil change capacity is 850ml, Engine oil change with filter change is 950ml and Engine overhaul change is 1100ml. Please refer your manual and get your motorcycle serviced from a knowledgeable mechanic.

The new Gixxer rear disc seems to be a total failure. It's over 1 month now.
I approached service centre once after two weeks & once at 1st service. The technicians were not able to bring the braking proper, though there is freeplay in the brake pedal. The brake seems to apply after 7 seconds after continuous braking, then also no effective braking. I feel like that I need to stand on brake, even this won't apply brake as effective as the front brake.
I fear for driving over 45kmph due to ineffective rear disc braking in order to control the motorcycle. The technician too told that this is a Nissin's faulty disc brake system installed at the rear. Though the front one is of Bybre which is as the disc brake should be.

It is posing a serious life threat & Suzuki should replace/recall/resolute the issue as soon as possible. I can't comment on other Gixxers with rear disc as maybe I only could be having this issue, but the company should take the matter very seriously.

Anyhow I will be approaching the company in a day or two.

I am shocked to hear this issue regarding the rear disc brake...I know the front brake system is of bybre. So the rear brake system is made by Nissin?. Initially Suzuki had rusting problems on the Gixxer which they admitted and rectified the issue with the succeeding batches during manufacturing.

Do keep us updated on this issue.

A friend is interested in getting a new bike who is in chennai, he asked me a couple to questions. I just need advise from yo guys.

1.) He would like to know whether we will be able to fit R15 fairing on suzuki gixxer or gixxer sf. If not, also suggest any other fairing or front doom light can be modified/fit on gixxer/gixxer sf. What will be the mileage of sf rear disk variant. As he is not okay with the sf front doom

2.) What will be mileage of the bike after one year

3.) Has anyone tried fitting ABS to gixxer/sf. If so what will be cost of fitting of ABS on both the wheels.

4.) I also have a plan to buy normal gixxer, since it gives more mileage than sf. So can i fit sf fariing to the naked bike,. So what is the cost and will the mileage get decreased if I fit on a fariring.

Thanks in advance for your advise.

Officially Suzuki doesn't recommend to fit fairings in Suzuki Gixxer (not even of SF) i have already asked them (they told you can get it fit from outside but Gixxer naked version is not made for faring and will not look good also warranty will be lost), so better to buy SF if you love a faired bike mileage of both bikes is same.
Don't have much idea about fitting ABS but i never feel requirement of ABS as it only helps in intelligent braking not not improve braking. Fitting ABS will be many times more costly then get a bike which which already have ABS in it's package.

Just my view. My gixxer is 750kms old. Rear disk works fine. The bike was delivered with improper rear disk adjustment. I fixed the free play by reading the manual.

Somewhere in youtube i saw a similar problem you have mentioned on a honda cbr 1000. They had to bleed the brake oil completely, remove and refit the disk pad and refill brake oil. Then pumped the brake pedal 7 or 8 times till the oil passed through the system and braked applied.

I hope your issue gets fixed.

Apparently that rubber thing out of which stator wires come out doesn't come separately; hence they replaced the whole stator-assy along with that side's gasket.
