Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Even if we had them then to rc 390 is more fun to drive than all other beginner bikes as confirmed by many international reviewers.Biking is all about the fun quotient.Originally posted by VaruaG View PostIt's kinda sad that both Yamaha n Honda are holding out on the R3 & CBR 300R respectively.
It would be nice to have some options to choose from (Not that I'd choose anything other than the RC
)
So just go get the rc 390. Every machinery in world has it's flaws and tends to breakdown sometimes. So don't even think about the issues you may or may not face and in the future. It's the perfect bike for the price bracket.
As for your concern THE HEAT it's not like yours legs are gonna get roasted but in b2b traffic u just have to take enough fluids before riding. You'll not even notice it if you r on the move.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
My Radiator fan stopped working again. Last time at around 1500kms the fan conked out and was replaced under warranty. Now at 4000kms the heat sensor went kaput and the fan stopped working again. These parts are replaced under warranty but the reliability factor for long rides becomes questionable.
Latest update at the SVC is the 790 and 990 are being launched early next year. It will be the adventure version though. The service engineer said it is going to be a single. I'm doubtful about that. 790,990 single cylinder
. Well, if at all it is a single. Boy, just imagine that torque and that heavy punchy exhaust note.
The power does not seem to fade even after 4000kms of hard acceleration so I guess the nikasil coated cylinder and forged pistons are great.
A pulsar, I doubt would run the same way after 4000kms of beating.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Guys Yesterday met a RC390 owner and heard all the great things about the RC and also a few not so good things,
I wanted to know a few things,
1. The owner stated that the fuel gauge is faulty in all the RC390s.
2. The under belly scoop gets hit on all the speed brakers.
3. If had a pillion their entire weight rest on the rider.
4. The palm hurts if ridden without gloves.
I am booking the bike in 19 days and thought of knowing the details before, if they are true does any have any ideas to overcome these issues.

All of the above points are 100% true. Plus a few other issues like radiator fan, heat sensor, gear change rod disconnecting, side stand becoming loose often, battery cover vibrations.
Go through the thread here and you will know the negatives and positives of the bike. In India right now at this price point you will NOT get a more fun and powerful bike.
If you love speed and if you have not ridden a bike above 40bhp; then you will always have a smile on your face when you get on your bike. All the negatives will be forgotten.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I have had my bike for 4 months now and I had a faulty fuel guage at the time of delivery which was fixed and the bike was delivered to me within 4h. Since that day, I've had zero problems with my bike except the Battery cover vibrations which I managed to overcome using Double-sided tape. Apparently KTM has recognized this issue and is fixing it free of cost.Originally posted by iVikramMann View PostHello Bikers..

The only issue I've faced in my 4.5K kms and 4 months is that faulty fuel guage. Nothing else!
And I've had an instance where someone stole my Bike key when it fell down in the college parking lot. I called up my dad to bring the spare key and took it straight to the service center. All 3 locks(steering, fuel, under seat) were replaced for Rs.955 all in!
Edit : The bike has never stalled due to over heating in extreme Bangalore Outer Ring Road Traffic. The trick is to leave the bike on when the radiator fan is on. And In case the bike turns off, all one has to do is use the kill switch and start again!Last edited by thrustrev; 06-05-2015, 10:04 PM.

I used to use Speed97 or Shell Premium(V Power) petrol before. Once I realized that they had too many additives that are only reducing mileage, I have done my research and found that Bharat Petroleum has the purest normal fuel. I have stuck to a petrol bunk that is 200m from my house.
Coming to the mileage, it really depends on how you ride. Constantly revving it gives around 18kmpl in the city. Mixed riding returns around 22kmpl. If you ride very smooth and contain the revs and shift at 5000rpm, and ride at 75-80kmph in 6th gear for a long time, 35kmpl guaranteed.
