Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Its been a solid 2 months since I got my RC.
Time I did a little review.
First, things that were replaced (and general services) :
Oil - Motul 7100 at 490kms
Oil - Motul 300V at 1004kms
Oil - Motul 300V around 3000kms mark
Brake pads 3 sets, all for the front.
One injector, destroyed due to bad fuel quality.
Oil filter 3 times.
Issues I have with the bike :
Suspension is too soft for a big fellow like me, riding around on the hardest setting and still wobbly.
Brakes are very spongy.
Annoyingly small fuel tank.
Fairing Vibrations.
Parts I love about it :
The sheer power.
Power Wheelies.
Cornering excellence.
Pillion Comfort (as been told by my girlfriend)
Brakes have never faded.
Easy to control when going off track and on to mud and sand traps.
ABS is a life saver, I never turn it off even on track.
Gear I use :
MT MATRIX
MT Blade Isle Of Mann (Girlfriends)
MT Axxis Braking RED (Rough Use)
TBG SPORT GLOVES
LS2 Jacket (MESH)
TBG Boots
Arlen Ness Suit (FULL LEATHER)
Clover Full body inners.
I will be starting a vlogging channel soon
, hope y'all will drop by it some time

Putting the RC to good use, Great going mateOriginally posted by dannyR15 View Post aah, track days :* pure bliss.
Ps: Does anyone has any info on the slipper clutch equipped RC having landed in the showrooms in their respective cities.
I was at CP Showroom(Delhi), they have slipper clutch (SC) Dukes ready to go, but no info on RC (sc). RC (-SC) is readily available though, no waiting period required. And they have no info on the slipper clutch equipped RC. One might think they are trying to clear off the old stock.
Besides I just dont want to end up buying the bike now and a week later/month later start the whole process of getting slipper clutch retro fitted from the SVC. As I am getting a very strong feeling that this is how things are gonna end up.
Any news would be of great help.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Is it really required to change the oil that frequently? I had my oil change at around 1000 km mark with 7100. It is currently around 3000 kms on odo and I actually feel that everything has settled in great. Gearshifts which were too clunky till now have become really smooth. I am liking this very much!Originally posted by dannyR15 View PostOil - Motul 7100 at 490kms
Oil - Motul 300V at 1004kms

Hey bro
, for me I have felt that the way I do my engine break in, and also the fact that the bike has done 80% of its mileage on track, I have changed the oil very frequently, as I feel that for my bike to maintain its performance, the way I want it too, it would be the best to change it frequently, and its not a lazy machine, I use and abuse the motor and therefore maintain it with the same rigour and dedication I have to wring it out on track I infact rarely keep the engine below 4500 RPM.

During my recent visit to KTM, Mandi (Himachal) showroom. The Sales Consultant told me that all RCs & Dukes are equipped with Slipper Clutch (not sure if 200 is also included, as we were discussing 390 at that time). According to him all models after Feb 2015 are coming with Slipper Clutch. The showroom had a March 2015 manufactured RC 390, I pressed its clutch, it wasn't that hard. I haven't pressed clutch of KTM ever before.
One more thing, Is RC 390 a two stroke bike?
Because that's what the sales consultant told me. He told me that this info was provided by his trainers.Last edited by vikas007sharma; 05-24-2015, 07:40 AM.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
True that. Considering the stress the engine would go through on the track, oil will never last even the KTM recommended distance. And I only ride on weekend and that too quite sedately so there's absolutely no comparison. However, my observation is that it takes a few hundred kms before oil settles down and things become smooth. May be it is components breaking in.Originally posted by dannyR15 View PostHey bro

I do hope to someday find an opportunity to let my Blade off the leash!!
Even when I do, my talents will barely be able to shake the beat out of slumber.
That is just wishful thinking! A two-stroke RC390 would be the star of many wet dreams!! It is however a four-stroke motor and very competitive one at that!!Originally posted by vikas007sharma View PostOne more thing, Is RC 390 a two stroke bike?

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
That guy has been feeding you all lies. Neither is RC coming with slipper clutch nor is it 2 stroke. In fact 2 strokes are banned in India since more than a decade.Originally posted by vikas007sharma View PostDuring my recent visit to KTM, Mandi (Himachal) showroom.
