Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
[QUOTE=Venkat0412;1149479][QUOTE=Liveforpower;1148656]Guys after removing the filter...I started the bike with the air filter box opened and my god... The intake noise is one to die for... I would say it sounded better that a 1000cc bike.... The noise is just exactly what I was looking for... It has a deep LOUD growl...just out of the world... Now I am waiting to get my hands on a K&N filter and get rid of the box set-up... Try it out guys... you would go crazy with the noise.
Hey bro if you get your hands on K&N filter please do make a video of it..

The only issue i face is the annoying sound from the rattling of the battery cover. Any DIYs or suggestions to reduce this annoying sound.
Planning to go on a 700 km long drive from Hyderabad to Mumbai. preparing the bike and myself (mentally) for such a long journey. will keep you posted on this.

Hi bro. Well, I have changed my mind about fitting a K&N air filter because of all the negative reviews worldwide.
They say that on the long run; the engine life reduces as the filtration is not sufficient and we end up with lot of dirt in the engine also the oil used on the filter will mess up the O2 sensor. The air fuel ratio will also be bad as it will start running lean. The bigger bikes they say has a wide band sensor and our bikes don't due to the cost. But boy o boy, just for fun sake try to rev the bike without the stock filter like how I had done in the pics and you will know what I am talking about. The intake noise is just crazy and I would not mind spending 20-30 grand just for the note
For the battery cover noise... even I faced the same problem and I know it is very irritating. Just remove the battery cover and put double side tape on the under side of the petrol tank (on the top where the battery cover slides in). The prob will be solved in 5 mins.
Im planning on a 500km trip from Coimbatore to Chennai next month on the 9th. Hopefully all goes well. Buddy just make sure you check your side stand and gear rod and make sure it is tight. Last time I got stuck at 4 am (Coimbatore to Trichy) in the morning when my gear changer rod disconnected and was stuck in the middle of no-where. Luckily I always anticipate these kinds of events and had tools with me so I fixed it in 10 minutes. The gear rod disconnected from the rear side hence it was trailing on the road and I was in 6th gear at around 120kmph. I cant imagine what would have happened if it had disconnected on the front end. It would have dug into the road and would have broken the bike or myself for sure...
Take care, Thanks

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Did anyone tried to wheelie on his RC390. I did but it does not carry like my pulsar, my pulsar carries wheelie easily for a kilometer but the RC does it for only 20-30 meters after the rev range stops and it comes down.
Some are saying due to lot of weight some are saying due to weight in front, however the duke arrives wheelie easily things to notice wheelbase is same for duke(may be some centimeter short) and just 8 kg heavier. Did anyone tried to pop up wheelies for longer distance?

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Hey guys. This is Gaurav Jaiswal from eastern UP(where tracks don't exist). Bought a RC390 2 months back. Way pleased with it. Completed 2000 kms. Just came home from Lucknow a couple of days back covering almost 300kms.
I do have a few issues..
1) the front footrest vibrates like hell. The rear is all vibration free. Has anybody done a mod(like placing rubber while tightening screws etc)?
2) The handle too vibrates a lot(not an issue I'm quick rides but counts a lot on highways). Any suggestions apart from grip covers because they make the throttle thick and steal the charm of it
3) seats ofcourse. Has anybody got a foam knitted up in extra?

That's me leaving for Gorakhpur from Lucknow.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
The RC pops better wheelies coz it has a more linear power band, I can do the wheelie from first and if you are good, you can shift to second and on good days even third. All depends on the rider.Originally posted by Nickyboy View PostDid anyone tried to wheelie on his RC390. Mine are dude for replacement at around 5K kms [emoji14]Originally posted by vikas007sharma View PostVisited KTM Mandi Showroom (Himachal). The Sales guy claimed that RC 390 Metzeler tyre runs for around 25,000km. He was kind of challenging about it & was sounded very confident.
But I guess I have read here that they hardly lasts for 12,000 km.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Its not because of the motorcycle that you are not able to use those last few mm's of your rear tyre. The front tyre has a less rounder profile and while you are leaning the front being less wide and less round reaches its maximum lean angle (edge of the tyre) before the rear tyre is able to do so, any more and your front end would give up. That should explain the 1cm you were talking about.Originally posted by ynike99 View PostEven i could touch the second elephant. I thought rc could go all the way down. Same thing happens in duke, about a cm is left.

Its because 'Whatever it is, it's better in the wind!'
