I don't know about that bro. My duke gave me about 26kmpl on average during run in and has been steady at 28kmpl in the city and 31kmpl on the highway (little more on night riding) since. Its a good average. Best to stay within 5k rpm but engine must not be stressed by going too slow on high gears (say 40kmph on 4th). Of course that's duke so different ecu map. So can't say.Last edited by Balgi; 10-19-2014, 04:40 PM.

150kms on full tank is too low even under power. It should be more like 200kms on full under power and 250kms minimum on full tank when ridden within 120-140kmph. At least that's what the duke gives.Last edited by Balgi; 10-19-2014, 04:40 PM.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Congratulations! How did the bike perform in the wet? How was the grip? And does it spray the rider with mud like the duke?Originally posted by DukeDey View PostGot my bike. Been way too busy riding. I'll share a few pics as of now.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I had not read the thread all weekend, and was really hoping there would be a few detailed reviews and ride experiences by new users as I walk into office!! :P .... seems new users completely spellbound!

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
How's the ride quality. Took a test ride over the weekend and though the bike I rode was hardly ridden with only 10km on the odo, the bike felt a little choked and harsh, and I was hitting the rev limiter way too quickly. I suppose, before the run in completes, the Rev Limiter is set pretty low in the rev range. Thoughts anyone??

Yes its true the rev limiter is set low during run in but TD bikes usually have high set rev limits. At least in most cases it is so. The Rc TD bikes are brand new so harshness will exist but bike should get smoother by 5k kms also maybe that's why the rev limit issue (should be resolved after first oil change). Low end is not so good but past 100kmph mark the bike really comes to life. So I can tell you its gonna feel underpowered compared to duke.

The bike performed brilliantly, its so capable that I was at my 100% but it had way more it could have handled. Grip from the metz is as always, phenomenal!Originally posted by Deathmate.Zed View PostCongratulations! How did the bike perform in the wet? How was the grip? The rear seat gets sprayed but rider is safe. Why 2wheels over 4.....
Its because 'Whatever it is, it's better in the wind!'

You mean to say that my bike is currently limited to a specific lower RPM level than the actual RPM limit of the bike as on papers?Originally posted by Balgi View PostYes its true the rev limiter is set low during run in but TD bikes usually have high set rev limits. Well,I have not yet revved the bike to the RPM Limit,so I am not sure about this.I simply do not want to take risk with the engine during run-in period.
Actually I never felt the need to open up the bike to it's limit. RazoR effortlessly reaches 100km/hr and you never need more speed in city than that.
I am so smitten by the power the bike generates, that it is becoming almost impossible to believe ,what power the bike would offer after completion of run-in period.
These comments come from a guy who has upgraded from fz16,so people who have had owned more powerful bikes, might not be able to feel my words.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
The bike is capable in reality of revving up to 11k rpm. the company sets two limits for rpm. the first limit is where the red light comes on and the second is where the engine starts to choke up.Originally posted by cool20bud View PostYou mean to say that my bike is currently limited to a specific lower RPM level than the actual RPM limit of the bike as on papers?

During run in the lower rev limit is set at 5000 rpm and the upper limit is set at 7500 rpm and you are instructed not to exceed 6000 rpm. After first service these limits are revised to Upper=7000 rpm and lower= 8000 rpm but you can choose to set it to post 2nd service standard setting which is lower=9000 rpm and upper=10000 rpm.
As far as 100 kmph is concerned bro, during run in it is strictly forbidden unless you are running it in using the short bursts method.
I also upgraded to duke 390 from Honda unicorn though I did ride a few RD 350s and a few Honda twins but I understand. Wait for it bro coz your bike is gonna get a lot smoother in every way and the burst of power is gonna get a bit more maniacal

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
That's coz the RC is a faired duke with an ECU remap and shorter wheel base, but in essence it is a duke and all of the duke's problems were resolved well before the RC was launched. In fact bro to tell you the truth I regret not waiting a bit to buy my duke as the new ones are absolutely problem free and have new added features.Originally posted by jackofsome View Postone think is pretty nice though.
so many days into this thread of ownership and there are hardly any problems croping up!
thats good learning bajaj!
