Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience

Thanks @puneetvashisht and @BiKeLovER!

28 kmpl is good enough for a bike of this class. Just wanted to know how much we will have to spend for fuel who are gonna use it as their multipurpose bike on a regular basis.
@BiKeLovER - I am 5.8 and I do not have any issues with RC 390. However, I have a feeling that, a lot of power will be left unused for RC 390 on Indian road. Plus, I also like the all black RC 200 . But you will miss out sticky Metzeler + ABS on RC 200. Which is more vital for me rather than cosmetic changes.

Now the big question is - If I change my mind and opt for 200, Can I live without Metzeler + ABS? considering my primary use of the machine will be daily office commute, Weekend short highway trip with friends and I am not a track guy, so probably I will not visit a track very soon. FYI - I live in Bangalore, My daily route is about 20 kms, and its one of the well made road of Bangalore.

Finally where are the Pics?? Can you please post some of those?

The MRFs that the RC 200 comes with, are good and sticky enough.
I have booked the same and am pretty happy about it!

In which showroom have you booked and when is your expected delivery date?

Hmm, hackernewbie good to know about your choice.

Indiranagar KTM, I booked RC 390 a month back. I enquired about the expected date a day before yesterday, they confirmed that first batch delivery is scheduled for this month end, i.e October 2014 end for about 25 nos. RC 390. Unfortunately I am not in the list of first 25 . I will have to wait till november end.

Rc200 will be equally good for your use of office commute and it is upto to whichever bike you choose.both are very good machines. But in my opinion, rc390 is a much better bang for bucks.
And about the pics, I am unable to upload the pics through mobile app.

Yes,It does keep on changing. but still 32 km/l mileage for the total time the bike has run till date is very impresssive.

About run-in period for this bike.

I owned fz16 before rc390 and during run-in period for fz16 I kept it under 60 kmph. But for rc390 you just cant keep it under 60kmph,bike reaches 100kmph in a blink where the bike feels most relaxed.

So what I have decided is to keep the bike under 100kmph keeping RPM under check and not exceeding 5-6K at max.

Though I have had my share of fun once or twice revving the bike in 2nd and 3rd gear and it feels godly.Waiting for the run-in period to be over soon.

That's how one should run in the bike. Any bike. Not limited to speed, but RPM.

puneetvashisht isn't 150kms from a full tank too less??? If you do the math 150/9.5 (dats the tank capacity) it comes to 15.78kmpl which is very very less, guys plz do correct me if I'm wrong

I think low mileage is comman before first service and it will definitely improve after first service but this time I was also shocked to see low fuel indicator after just 150 kms.
