I strongly recommend you to recheck with ur FInance company or look for alternate options like personal loan.
Yea dude. Like a idiot only I didnt bother to cross check calculations :P. Thanks man, Ill talk to the finance person and clarify. and will look at other options also cheers!.

    According to @Shantnu:
    downpayment = 68, 807
    12 emis: 16334 x 12 = 196008
    Hence total = 264815

    On road price: 241737

Hence the extra amount he pays on taking a loan = 264815-241737 = 23078

    \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\'x\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' interest
    (x/100) * 241737 = 23078
    which is approx 9.5 %
Teejay is correct bro. You calculated interest on total bike price, while it should be on loan amount because downpayment is cash that I have paid now. So the extra 23078, that you calculated is the interest. But it should be the interest on the loan amount (241737-68,807=172,930) and not on total bike price. so,

    (x/100)*172930 = 23078
    whichis indeed around 13.5% !

and this is flat, in reality when I pay my EMIs, the principal amount left becomes smaller progressively (each EMI has a interest and principal repayment component). So the interest should be only on outstanding loan amount left. By that measure, the interest rate charged is higher than 13%.

Does RC390s taller gear ratio will be a problem in city traffic ?Please share your experience on mileage , maintenance cost and city riding. I will be riding in Bangalore traffic. After this I wont be buying any sports bike So please suggest.
If you are going to Ride in severe Bangalore traffic and want the ride to be very comfortable, you should get a Duke 200/390. But you booking the RC suggests you dont mind the posture.

As far as I know, the maintenance cost of both the RCs is almost the same. Mileage is certainly better on the RC200.

Having taller gear ratios makes it easier in slow moving traffic because the RC390 has sufficient Torque.

The riding position of both the RCs is the same, they look alike(except for the colour).

So you prefer a a bike with Mileage over a bike with ABS, almost double the power and Slightly better tyres? Ask yourself this question and pick your bike.

P.S- RC200 is in no way underpowered and it has what it takes to be safe enough on Indian roads.Cheers!

Guys, my RC is not crossing 145-150 kmph and I noticed that the revs were not going past 9500 even with full open throttle, I am really worried now because earlier I was easily doing speeds upto 165 kmph, with still some more power left.

I think the bike revs till 10300 RPM mark, can anyone suggest could there be a serious issue behind this.

Can you try in the first 2 gears about the revving you might get a better idea.
Also check air filter , chain tension etc.

                  • 6000 KM Ride Report

Hi all, I have covered 6200 km since oct 31 on my RC.

Had the second servicing done on last tuesday, costed around 2250 including oil.
So apparently we have to get the air filter and spark plug (??) too replaced @ each service, whats up with that? any Duke 390 guys here do you guys too have to replace spark plug in each service.
Faced no problems on it apart from false neutrals(console will show as neutral even the bike will start without clutch even though it will be in gear).
Even the number plate vibration have stopped nowadays, the bike is considerable smoother now and the sound has become mellow now.

Taking a pillion and riding in the city in easier now (worried half the time that the pillion might fly away due to insane acceleration)

I did a 700 km same day ride (bangalore to horanadu and back) yes the back took a beating but I think I would have been able to cover 100 km more

Also rode the bike yesterday in the city for 150 km with a pillion in single day (just for perspective i crossed the e city flyover 3 times ) and It was dare I say comfortable. Yes the 150 kms do take a toll on you but its nice to ride in city and awesome in medium traffic.

Yes the underbelly does get scrapped at extreme angles, and with pillion it does get scrapped on a little hard cornering or an upward inclined camber on a turn. Bottomline, yes it does scrape!

                        Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

The under belly does get scraped infact a lot. But never on the cornering (I am no rossi). It gets scraped on the bumpers if you slow down/ brake on the bumper.
The ideal way is to go a bit faster on the bumpers (moto cross style with bum up and toes on the foot pegs) then the bike does not scrape the bottom.
                          Its an acquired skill :P

Moreover all the underbelly parts are plastics. event eh rivet holding the two under belly sides together is made of plastic so that you can replace them for cheap. Something my KTM mechanic told me was a cost saving measure from company so that we can replace the parts easily since plastic rivets are way cheaper than steel

LOl I aint no Rossi either!! it does scrape on bumps that is understood but I am disappointed that it scrapes on cornering for a bike designed for the track!

Some issues that I have been facing with RC390. Could somebody please answer?

-- When riding RC390, the right foot pains because of the way brake pedal is angled. I have to often move the right foot under from the brake pedal to get it in a comfortable position but don't think that's safe. Can we change the angle of the brake pedal so that it points a little lower?

-- Because of the riding position, the chest is facing downwards but we need to look upwards towards the road. This leads to pain in the neck. Is my riding position wrong?

-- Lastly, from one reserve tank to another reserve tank, I am getting a range of around 150-160 kms. Isn't that very low?
