Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Ya dude, the bikes were pretty much same in built quality. However one bike had the handle Bar scraped from the side (in transit I suppose) so I removed it from selection universe ...another had a 2014 date on its rear shocker (The rear shocker bears a exact date) so removed it, for one the swingarm finish was a little improper (dont know how to explain) ..... also there were slight differences in the front fairing fitting .... as in, the front fairing is attached to the bottom (around the radiator) with a male-female socket kinds, and for all bikes the extent to which the fairing was inserted in male part on the frame was different, some fairings were completely inside on one side and half way on the other side and all such combinations ....not sure if they make it consistent during PDI (the PDI wasnt done yet) . ....Originally posted by ynike99 View Post

VBK - JY - J4 - K7 - FC2 - 17002
VBK - JY - J4 - K4 - FC2 - 17023
as per showroom guy "F" stands for 2015 ... also month of manufacture should be given right?
Would be great to know so that I can check on the bike I will get.
Cheers!
Where can you find this number on the bike?
A new KTM showroom just opened in my town and they have about 10 RCs, 4 390s and 6 200s, up for grabs. No waiting period at all and a z250 as well, not to mention lots of dukes. For a long time i have been confused between the N300 and RC390. The absence of ABS in N300 for its cost made me decide against it and just when I thought of going for RC, the news of Slipper Clutch is making me delay my decision. If it comes by within may june, its ok i shall wait but any longer and i guess I am better off buying it now. Hopefully there's some official news soon.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
The number you are talking about is called a VIN, or vehicle identification number.Originally posted by berudulom View PostWhere can you find this number on the bike?
On the rc, its inscribed on the subframe, to the right, when you remove the rider seat.Motorcycling heals, big time...

Apart from the permanent engraving on the orange subframe as ynike99 mentioned,Originally posted by berudulom View PostWhere can you find this number on the bike?
.
for you to read without removing the seat, there will be a Green colour sticker with this number on the orange trelles frame visible (just below the riders seat) on the right side if you are sitting on the bike.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Bro are you sure? My dealer said he willl fit the front and rear fender extender from the Duke and give it to me.Originally posted by ynike99 View PostGuys, has anyone been able to find fender extender for the rc? I desperately need one. Duke's extension does not work.
I also noticed that in the front, the RC already has the holes for the fender extender that is there in the duke, its just that it is not factory fitted for the RC
At the rear the fender/flap behind the shocker (only in 2015 Dukes) in fit by a screw on the body which again is also there on the RC, just that the screw is just there without the fender present/fitted.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
One boring day at work I decided I got a new bike I have to make a trip somewhere to feel what the bike is capable of for long distance touring. So what better destination than Goa ???
So the following week I planned a 3 day trip. I took the NH4 from Mumbai right upto Nipani where you need to turn right towards amboli, the road is nestled between 2 hotels one is Goa Ways not sure of the other one.
The road till pune is amazing apart from a few junctions, from pune its very mundane except the Satara Ghat section and the many village junctions where the villagers feel they own the road I was lucky to escape with just a scratch on my clutch handle and broken.
Once you turn right from Nipani is when you can actually enjoy the handling the RC 390 has to offer the twisties will have the biker within you pushing you harder the road till Ajra is pretty good a rough patch after that and then you arrive at amboli Ghats the view is breathtaking no matter how many times youve been there before riding down with caution as the road is very narrow and theres road repair work at certain places.
This 160 km patch from amboli to sawantwadi is very picturesque, after Sawantwadi you join the NH17 (Mumbai-Goa) is last section before you reach Goa.
pros
The bike handles amazing when your cruising in the 6th gear and you cross that 87km mark you can actually feel that midrange kick in.
It returns a good 33kmpl when your cruising at 100kmph And upto 35kmpl if you ride at 85-90kmph.
The abs really helps when maniacs just jump in front of you.
Cons
Because of the 10 litres tank you can get a meagre 220-260 km range on it.
You will have no sensation in your butt.
The under belly scrapes alot on speed breakers and on twisties if you push it alot.
All said and 1500km trip i can say its one wicked machine you'll be really satisfied if you chose this over anyother sports bike(in its category). check my instagram profile for a few pictures

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
The fan was not running all the time at intervals. It heats up when climbing ghats and "traffic" I do not have to mention that I guess. Yes there was a pillion and it was not comfortable at all her knees and butt both were aching and if you hit a bump or uneven road hard the pillion feels it the mostOriginally posted by nilesh9777 View Postnice trip man!!

While the duke390 only is available now as we are also facing a hefty time in getting the RC, but its confirmed that te RC390 also gets the clutch along with the new duke390.Thank You .Ride, ride and ride..
