I can now think of following future course of action. Take this up with svc and ask for part replacement. Also, firm up the suspension so that the springs do not brush against each other. Alternatively, is there some anti rust coat which I can apply and prevent further damage?
IIRC, the paint used to chip off on the suspension springs on the first lot of the dukes too. a few people were able to get it replaced under warranty. and bajaj supposedly had improved the quality of the paint job
try to push for warranty, you could be lucky

Hello owners. I got a chance to TD the RC390 today. Although it was a small run but damn what a bike! (This coming from an ex. D390 owner)!
          1. Found the bike to be very comfortable! I m 6'2" and the D390 feels cramped to me and so does the N300.
          2. The smoothness at RPMs below 5k is noticeable. The ability to accelerate from low RPMs is what was missing in the D390. The RC makes up for it.
          3. Well, there are vibes but do you expect from a single blurting out 43 odd horses. But overall build quality is better compared to D390. Atleast the fuel cap and headlight was not vibrating!
Before I take the plunge and buy a 390 again (!!), i wanted to know if anyone has toured long distance on this bike. I plan to take the bike (whatever I buy) to Leh this summer.
Mods you can delete the below since I am comparing bikes but the RC390 wins over the N300( have test ridden both back to back) over
          1. The RC has better brakes and tires - hands down. You get a Ninja and you have to spend nearly 15K to get steel braided brake lines and sintered brake pads.
          2. Riding the RC, you feel more connected to the chasis of the bike with the Moto3 riding position. RC gives you the confidence to slice and dice across traffic. Ninja on the other hand makes you feel comfortable but not racy. It is a great handler but not a terrific one.
On the downside, the engine note on the RC is rough (better than D390 though) and the feeling of a parallel going from 0-100 is not going to come to a single anytime soon!
Now that N300 is 4.2 on road with parts getting still costlier; I am nearly sold to remarry after divorcing the same women. But really wanted to understand her touring capabilities vis a vis mounting luggage and importantly mounting 5L petrol cans!
The front travel on the WP seemed real low compared to the Duke - is that a problem while riding off road terrains?

Confirmation on price hike : KTM RC 200 is now available at 1.80 OTR and 390 is available for 2.29 OTR DEHRADUN. Lucky to get the bike in 2014 saved atleast 7-8k 😎

Any comments on the below queries.. I guess most would not have tried long distance touring in the short span the bike has been on road but any impressions would help.

somebody i think have mounted the viaterra fly perfectly alrite! but then rest i have no idea as i do not tend to go offroad at all.
the suspension up front is purely for feel n handling.
a little bad roads and my hands start aching by the time im done about 200kms.
im sure you will find a way somehow other exp members can chip in here.

200 kms is a good distance that can be covered on bad roads.
Good that the viaterra bag fits. Any idea on the cost?
Now need to figure out where I can fit in a 5L bottle for fuel. Bad fuel does screw up the bike, so it is a concern.

Bro didn't you just bought a N300..?? Then why querying regarding the RC..?? Why are you having these second thoughts??

Haven't bought the N300. Just booked it. Post Jan. 1st , N300 is 4.2 on road in Hyderabad. It is So having second thoughts on an already over priced bike considering the spares are going to be costlier as well.
Test rode the RC and found it roomier and a sweeter handler than the D390. Brakes and tires are way better than N300 but obviously it is a single. Whatever bike I buy needs to do Leh this year, so querying about the touring capability of RC.

                        I don't own a N300 yet but started saving. (Currently owning D200).
One thing that I keep telling myself(which might help you as well) is even if the spares of the Ninja are expensive, that are not the ones you are to replace frequently.
The service interval of the Ninja is longer than that of the Dukes/ RCs.
As for the niggles and issues, the Ninja is far less a visitor than any Duke / RC.
The only thing missing from the Ninja is ABS, which I hope would come as standard just like the Z250.
Haven't heard any RC leh'd, so if you do, yours probably would be the first one.

ok i would not start a debate here.
but then the n300 would sit at the service center for weeks if suddenly one piston stops working ( happened to one of our fellow riders last week and the service center is still waiting for a confirmation about the parts to arrive)
so mostly one niggle and your bike would be on a honeymoon wid the service people.
now about the RC one of my other biker buddy has done about 6k in two months. his RC is already lehd. without any problems. my RC is without any problem(till now).
yes its a single. yes it vibrates. but when you hear it screamin and hitting the redline before you know it even in 5th gear trust me you would love every bit of it. everytime your grin will be like a mile wide. guaranteed! Trust me bajaj has worked on the RC over dukes. its a better product. period.
though at the end it boils down to what you want. buy any of these you would not be disappointed.

AFAIK, the roads to Leh are closed for the pst month or mire due to snow. How did your friend do Leh on his RC?

he did it in the first month of getting it so it would be late oct i suppose.
