the problem is acknowledged by ktm officially as there was a mail in their system which was specifically to reduce the battery cover vibration. overall satisfied.
Thanks for that info, the rattling sound was a bit annoying. Maybe this is the problem, will check it soon.

Has anyone removed the front number plate ? I have been warned not to do it myself as there is a bolt that inside the fairing thats gets \"lost\" once you unsecure it. Was asked to take it to the service center and get it removed.

Among other news: Just did 340 kms on the road today and boy what a breeze it was. Bangalore - Mysore highway, doing speeds of 90-100. To my surprise I got a FE of 44kmpl ( Used full tank method to calculate FE - 4.5l for 200KM), this is the second time the bike has surprised me with the FE

i removed it today! no such screws as such as far as i remember. it was smooth. though washers were required for the four nuts to mounts the rvm.
one more thing is ktm has put loads of rubber everywhere to keep vibration down. though the big single still wins everytime!

Sir I understand your plight and feel sad you had a bad experience. I am kind of disappointed with this issue but I somehow feel this is part of the deal. I know this scraping paint should never happen in first place but I doubt if production quality is the only culprit here. The suspension is set too soft and hence this scraping of paint happens. I guess firming up the suspension should solve the issue.

The reason I am willing to live with such minor issues is because Blade forged a special bond today. We did 550 km of highway munching in 9 hour ride spread over 13 hours! I was so comfortable maintaining 100-120 kmph speed while cruising during day time whereas 80-90 kmph during felt comfortable thanks to fantastic headlight setup.

And riding is so comfortable that I ended up doing 250 km non-stop over 4 hours while returning back (barring a 2 min bio-break and 2 min fueling break where I didn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t even get off saddle).

All this while doing 36 kpl!!!

I know this isn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t perfect bike but I doubt any bike is. I won\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t argue against your decision though. Just wish the steed you put your money on lives up to your expectations.

Im facing it and its already been twice i\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ve been in this embarassing situation.Any help on this ?

        Really pathetic quality plastics used.
Congrats for your bike bro!! Wish you many happy and safe miles!! No hot start issues till date. Partly because the ambient temperature is yet to cross 35C while riding. Once the winter is over, 48C summers will put to test the engine temperature management. Btw, one thing I noticed is that if engine stalls in gear in traffic and doesn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t start on several cranks, flicking engine kill switch off and on resolves the problem.

True that the plastic doesn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t ooze quality but I felt it to be good enough till date. May be I am being biased but that\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s due to my ride today described above .

The rev limiter interruption is brutal indeed. I doubt there is any solution other than mastering the shifts. But those perfect shifts do transform the RC into a rocket...on steroids...gunning for its life!!!

How did you manage that? I did same speeds today and got 36 kpl. Your results are truly enviable!! I have seen 38 kpl on MID and even 40 kpl very rarely but its mostly while doing 70 kph in 6th.

Just wish the steed you put your money on lives up to your expectations.
Don\\\'t be, Sameer. Well, it wasn\\\'t my thought to let go of the machine just because it had a rusty spring setup. There\\\'s more to what meets the eye. Now the machine I\\\'ve owned was a naked Duke 390, not the RC. It\\\'s a hoot. Period.

But obvious things apart, the oblivious issue creeps up, skin deep. Most, if not all would agree to the fact that, KTM offers fun, excellent motorcycles to ride, but for how long is where the sweetspot lingers. I for one am really a long termer, and with the current rate of speed the issues that\\\'s popping up, which is inversely proportional to the KMS clocked, it\\\'s pretty much disappointing for a motorcycle that you\\\'ve set your standards high for.

That being said, Bajaj has improved the quality of the RC series tremendously, from what my myopic eyes can discern. Switchgear fit and finish were totally rubbish in the naked Dukes and unfortunately, still no improvements on that front, and so are the front and rear footrest brackets, visibly one can see and touch it to see the improper finishing and rough hot spots on cast items, top it up with goofed up handlebar grips and those sleazy levers, I can go on and on. Man I love them Apache forged levers. Skimping at its best.

I would love to get a forged lever setup in the RC, also improvement in the rubber damper materials used and overall all these should make the Recipe de Continental even more irresistible. Unfortunately Bajaj rings all the right bells on paper and ads, but when it comes to execution, they lag by quite a margin.

          I\\\'ll stop it at that.

P.S. Discretion advised. Personal opinions are shared for the benefit of fellow Bhpians, kindly do take heed.

          Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

          THE END

The slipper clutch on the KTMs is available as a powerpart as per below link. Any one knows the whereabouts/ways of getting one to India?

Edit: this might not be for RC390 and might be for RC8.

There is no better therapy than riding a bike down a straight road at full throttle with the sound of the engine for company.

Indeed i do find the riding position comfortable than my previous cbr 250.i did a 250 km trip and was back without any pain.
sameer im facing the problem you mentioned, if i accidenty stall the bike it takes numerous attempts to start it.what could be the reason.Even yesterday night it happened.i had to thumb the starter continously for a long time(10 secs) to get it back to life.

when it stalls, do not crank again. flick the red engine kill switch off and on. crank after that.
                  you are good to go.

i am guessing there is a system to cut off ecu power if the bike stalls on its own.
using the kill switch reboots it.
never seen any bike having the aggressive cutoff of power at redline too.
maybe ktm has a habit it to put in several measures!

Spot on! The quality of the parts are just rubbish! But even if I add the extra cost of aftermarket parts it will a hoot.
That\'s what I\'m doing - getting aftermarket levers, footrest, pedals, crash protectors, the whole nineyards. I\'m sourcing the parts via a good xBhp member based out of Bangalore. Will post the pictures as soon as we fit them, should be done in 10 days if I\'m not wrong.

Haha! Thanks man! It\'s all about finding the sweet spot. I take a break every hour, so that helps too. I think what worked for me is making sure that I don\'t push myself too hard. Take your time, it isn\'t a race and you will be able to do those numbers.

So the RC overheated and stalled on me again ( twice within a week\'s time). Took it to the service centre, and getting fan/radiator replaced under warranty.
Looks like it\'s a common issue with the RC..

Hi Guys,I have a concern here, these days whenever I reach speeds between 80 and 95 I suddenly feel the engine has become too heavy, I mean it feels like engine is taking a lot of load and is under pressure gear box suddenly feels heavy, Initially I thought It might be that bike is lugging at 80 in 6th gear, so i checked this out in the 5th gear but the same issue. Everything feels normal post 95 KMPH though.

Has anyone else also felt the same way, should I be concerned.

My RC has completed 3500Km so far.

Ah! It was you; I recall someone talking about it.. Was too lazy to go back a few changes and check out who it was
How is it after getting the radiator replaced? Ran into any issues ?
Regarding the issue - What do you mean taking a lot of load? I mean, change in sound? The bike jitters ? You feel like you are loosing the momentum ?
