Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Mainly more power ...200 is not cutting for me I thought of upgrades but then they will run into 50-60 k plus then the motor would be really stressed might as well put that money on buying a second hand well kept 390Originally posted by jRay View Postyou have a Rc200 right? What is the reason for upgrading? Just more power and ABS?

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I've just completed 1000kms on my rc390 and im loving it.
The power is just awesome and the handling is just amazing, its so agile, its just too much fun to ride.
It does heat up quite a lot in city but on highways it runs fine.
The battery cover does rattle and the bike does vibrate a bit but these dont bother me, im just having too much fun.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
There is nothing to envy about...coz ive been requesting them since last year...and it will take some more time...to get my thing....hyosung....such a 650 cc superbike. ..killer looksOriginally posted by mustang28 View PostI envy you brother.. At your age, the only option my dad gave me was a Hero Puch!!
Jokes apart.. I have no idea about the Hyosung 650. You can check in the Hyosung 650 thread.
RC390 is regarded as the learners 'sportsbike' along with Ninja 300 and R3 the world over. If you have a track nearby, the RC is your best bet to learn sport biking. KTM also organizes track days regularly.
Whatever you buy do remember that sports bikes are for sports track - on the road a splendor or a discover 150 should be treated with the same respect as a RC390 or Ninja 650.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Here is a piece of advice. While I can understand that you very excited about getting a bigger bike there are couple of things that you need to do;Originally posted by VYSHAKH VJ View Post.......
I had experiences riding rc200 ,rc390,re,ninja 650...what should i do....should i take rc or huyosung..
1. First and foremost go through the ownership thread of GT650. Just a hint; it does not make for very flattering reading.
2. While considering a bigger bike, also consider the overall cost of ownership. Believe me when I say that maintaining bigger bikes is expensive. The maintenance cost comes as shock to many people. So do your research properly before going for any make of bike.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

This. Also, more emphasis on 2nd point as being a student that's very important.Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostHere is a piece of advice. While I can understand that you very excited about getting a bigger bike there are couple of things that you need to do;

KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
3rd free service update:
Charges : 1500₹
Odo: 7000kms
Have used castrol power1 racing this time instead of 7100. Initial impressions are good, and the exhaust isnt popping anymore as of now.
Rest, the bike is running as it should be, no unwarranted visits to svc yet. Rear tyre has changed its shape though, may last 3-4k more as per mech. Brake pads have decent amount of life in them, chain is also looking good since the last time i adjusted it at 1k, and with right accessories/gear, its all the bike i wanted it to be.
Edit: Front fender extender for rc is available at svcs now. Cost was some 60-70₹.Last edited by ynike99; 10-22-2015, 12:49 AM.Motorcycling heals, big time...

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Day of Pre-delivery check : Thanks to the awesome xbhp friends. I took the pre-delivery checklist and checked the bike thoroughly today. Tomorrow I am getting the delivery of my bike. CANT WAIT!!
I discussed with the sales person of the showroom, about changing the Engine oil after 50-80 KM. He strongly suggested that oil change is not required till 500-600 KM. Any pointers?

Hey just wanted to clarify there, does the exhaust popping noise stopped due to lube switch or any other tuning done?Originally posted by ynike99 View Post3rd free service update:

No tuning, just simple oil change. Lets see whether it remains same after few heat-cooling cycles.Originally posted by turbosphere View PostHey just wanted to clarify there, does the exhaust popping noise stopped due to lube switch or any other tuning done?Motorcycling heals, big time...

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Guys,I have been planning to buy the RC since a few months. I currently own the 2011 Fazer. Are the vibes too much for a person upgrading from Yamaha to RC?
When is the slipper clutch going to be introduced? Is it good for city rides? What about the soft Metzelers? Puncture prone? I had 14 punctures on the stock FZ tyre in 7000kms. I am happy with the Yamaha, keeps me worry free. But I am lusting over the RC. Also let me know about the pillion comfort.

Let me tell you if you ask which bike is there under 4 lakh which offer safety (ABS), immense power, grip on wet surface, lot of service centers, pocket friendly spare part cost the answer is KTM.
odo is 4K. No puncture yet.
Only 2 visits to service center for regular service only.
Vibes are a more than fazer - solution is do some DIYs, you can find in thread.
Out of 4k odo, wife was there for almost 2k kms and she is just loving to sit there and enjoy. So pillion is happy for 2-3 hrs ride.
The most important thing is that its not normal bike. You have to take care her more.
You need to look for chain lube fir every 400-500 kms.
Do servicing on time.
Always keep eye on coolent engine oil levels.
Tighten the nut and bolts every 1000 kms on your own.
Go slow on throttle in rain or slippery roads.
Onreward you will get a big smile every time you ride her.
PS: I travel 70% highway and 30% city in mild traffic.
