Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Hi All,
This is my first post on xBhp.
I got my RC 390 2016 model (with the headlight switch) delivered on 12 Feb 2016. The bike was selected by Danny (Gypsy Danger - The first time i met his was to select the bike - A very nice helpful and charming guy). He immediately said that the new bike had a lot less vibes than his. Thanks a lot and RIP Danny will miss a good friend.
Few Pictures:
Few problems with the bike:
Roll over sensor error at 400 KM,s - Got it fixed in a day - loose connection
Gear shifts chunky and hard to shift. Makes that thug sound for every gear shift up - Clutch is light to use.
Fuel Economy : 23 - 26 kmpl (mixed riding)
Covered the initial 1000 KMs in about 2 weeks. Gave for first service on 5th Mar 2016 @ 1100 KMs. No major changes felt after the first service
My worst accident ever: Happened yesterday less that 24 hrs after the 1st service.
Was going down a flyover @ 40 kmh speed, a guy on P150 coming from the opposite side climbing the flyover tried over taking a bus, cut the mid line and hit me (i was at the far left near the flyover wall). I was wearing an helmet which save me from major head injury but my Jean and T shirt had got torn with a lot of flesh injuries. (I was planning to get the BBH Ladakh Jacket a week before but the store did not have the right size for me). Got the x rays done - no fractures luckily. The other guy had also minor injuries and the bike he was driving was bought a week back from OLX and had its insurance expired. Informed the police - but did want to file an FIR.
Will claim the insurance: - Pics of post accident:

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the bike!
Very unfortunate that you had a crash.. I'm guessing it was the other guy's mistake. I would've had beaten the hell out of him if I was in your place lol.
Take care and ride safe man..Last edited by Amodraut; 03-07-2016, 07:48 PM.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
At the least I always wear a helmet, gloves and riding boots but with these suicidal lunatics on the road even an iron man suit would not be sufficient. You should have made him pay from his own pocket as if you claim you will lose your no claims discount. File the fir and use it to lever him to pay.

The damage looks mostly cosmetic and if you are handy with basic diy just buy the broken parts and replace.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
You can change it but you will have to ask the dealer if he'll not void warranty. I had installed a polo horn in mine. I had asked the dealer he said nothing would happen from changing the horn. Still, it depends upon dealer to dealer. Confirm with him first, then decide for another one. Hello Adilkadri123,Originally posted by Adilkadri123 View PostFile the fir and use it to lever him to pay.
Generally how does it work. I do not know the exact procedure, as I have not been involved in any major accident which would involve cops or insurance. But in a scenario if some other vehicle hits into my vehicle and even if the damage is not major, can I still file an FIR? Does the party have to pay me for the damages caused or can he tell me that his insurance company will cover the loss? What if he does not have insurance. Who will then bear my loss incurred?
Thank you

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Yes the damage is cosmetic but I guess it will take a while for me to get back to shape. Just took a chest ct which confirmed two broken ribs and a punchered lung. Nothing major but ll take time to recover. I have sent the veichel for estimate.Originally posted by Adilkadri123 View PostAt the least I always wear a helmet, gloves and riding boots but with these suicidal lunatics on the road even an iron man suit would not be sufficient. Guys pls Note: Check the insurance company provides cashless in yiur state / location before buying the bike. Mine was oriental in chennai - 0 dep.. But to my suprise they don't do cashless. Which means now I have to pay for repairs from pocket and then later claim it..

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
You can, but it depends on your svc regarding warranty.Originally posted by Gopu92 View PostGuys can I replace the stock puny horn to any other horn. Will changing will void warranty?
The pulsar 220 dual horns are a direct fit and my svc said they will do it for me.
It is also possible to wire other horns (such as roots, hella's dual horns) without cutting any wires. But make sure a relay is installed.
It is compulsory for every motor vehicle to have at the minimum 'third party' coverage. Example: If you have only third party insurance (and not the full comprehensive) and you bang someone.. then your insurance company will pay for the damages caused to that person and you will not get a penny for your own damages. But if you have comprehensive insurance (which is what is provided with a new bike, and a few ppl opt for just 3rd party during renewal since its cheaper) then the insurance company will also cover your damages.Originally posted by Liveforpower View PostGenerally how does it work. Now if someone bangs in to you and you manage to file an FIR and prove that he was on the wrong side, then you will be compensated, either by that person's insurance or out of his own pocket and he will also be rapped for riding without insurance which is against the law.

Also if the other party is cooperative then you can always reach a compromise without the cops getting involved.Originally posted by s1d View PostYou can, but it depends on your svc regarding warranty.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Yes. Shouldn't require any new wiring or relays. Obviously the connectors should match.Originally posted by nilesh9777 View PostThats good, i am also thinking to change the horn.
Can you clear on thing, direct fit means no extra wiring or relays correct?Leh Ladakh Aug 2015

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Slipper clutch is a step back ;-)
New exhaust (eu spec) spoils the clean lines of the bike
Lack of switchgear for lights good safety feature
Fly by wire throttle maybe a forward (don't think I would want it tho as it just means one more expensive part to replace if it breaks)
Adjustable levers definitely thumbs upLeh Ladakh Aug 2015
