i pity you rc owners [emoji14] at least the dukes from late 2014 have a hard plastic cover and a flap that protects the monoshock from dirt.
    Yes bro.
    I am aware of that.

I am going to add fender extender and rear mud flap for monoshok @ 3rd servicing next month.
I am just avoiding visit to service center except for servicing. [emoji1]

    • KTM RC 390 with bar end mirrors

      Hi guys,

As mentioned in one of my previous posts, I have been looking for alternatives to the RVMs on my RC390 since they are completely unusable for me. For people who are taller and have a broader frame the RVMs just refuse to give visibility no matter how much you adjust. The alternatives were

      - Mirror extenders
      - Bar end mirror

I chose the later. While I am waiting to get a pair of CRG Arrows I decided to try out a pair of cheap bar end mirrors from ebay. These are foldable so are not an issue in traffic. I'm sharing a few pictures of the end result.

Today KTM showroom mechanic (PUNE) told me that RC 390 is going to get a major upgrade in 2016

        Electronic throttle control
        Slipper clutch
New exhaust (slip on kind off)

Dont know whether its true or not. Please Dont quote me if its wrong.

Not gotten registration number yet, but rode it around 30KM on Sunday in city, vibrations are there, but nowhere close to what I've heard it would be like. It does heat up quite a bit at signals and bumper to bumper traffic, but again, that issue too is highly overrated. The fan sounds kinda weird, its much louder than I'd have expected, so I need to get used to that. Otherwise its an amazing bike, despite being my first bike, I found it really easy to handle, I guess its the Metz that give that confidence to lean it so much, and the riding posture too has a good sports bike feeling, I've not had any back pain, and some minor wrist pain, which is relieved as soon as you grip the tank with your thighs. The bike looks amazing too, attracts a LOT of looks from people around./
Running in period is a huge pain, I managed a 65KM/h speed in 5th gear, it reaches 6000rpm way too easily (Manual says 7.5K but I keep a limit of 6K for myself so that even if it exceeds a bit it wouldn't matter). I did cross the limit just once though to get a feel of how powerful it actually is, and the surge of power felt was amazing.
          Overall loving this bike

I do have a tiny question, coolant should be between min and max right? Mine is there, but its pretty close to MIN, and looks a lot lesser than it should be, but when I pointed it out he told its normal, is that okay?

Congrats on your bike, AngadV, after all that brainstorming I hope you're happy with it. Yes the fan is "LOUD" and don't worry, when you're geared up fully with your helmet you wouldn't mind the sound. Coolant should always be above the min and below the max. So, for example, when you ride the bike the coolant level should be slightly higher due to expansion of the fluid, so after riding it should be upper or closer to the full mark and when cooled down, it should stay between min and max mark. Anything less or under minimum under cold conditions mean coolant top up is necessary.

Post a few snaps of your bike.

          Cheers!

Electronic throttle control is coming but isn't "officially" confirmed. Throttle by wire is cool but how much do we need it?

I'm just hoping that these changes can be made to the outgoing model officially, at a cost of course!

As per a personal discussions with one of the company Honcho..

Slipper clutch will never make it's way to the RC street bikes at all... Ride by wire is confirm and there has been testing on that now.

Exhaust I'm not sure, I prefer the clean underbelly design which is seen in current production models.

Call me old-fashioned, I still prefer the good old throttle cable as I'd like to keep as simple as possible and I'm sure don't want to get stranded on the highway because of faulty sensor that blips the butterfly valves...

Got my RC today. In one word..its awesome.
Didnt get time to go through the manual. Still I would shamelessly ask the owners here for a quickfix.
How to set the time and switch off ABS? My clock is 15mins faster.
I could change the rev limiter settings though.

As per my knowledge with some reliable contacts I know of, the Duke RC 390 is not gonna be launched with the slipper clutch, at least, not anytime soon. These guys though are very tight-lipped, to share some insights, but when they do, it's probably 99% right. It was this person who informed me about the impending naked series change that was about to get the slipper clutch, even though most didn't even know what it was, this chap was almost right what he was talking about and I did post an elaborate change list with photos in the 390 OXP.

I just had a chat with this person yesterday, when inquired upon the aforementioned changes by the chaps, particularly the FBW and exhaust, there are no side-swept exhaust changes for the RC, at least what he's informed me. Though he said there are going to be some "minor" upgrades on the electronics part, it just "might" perhaps be this fly-by-wire, and that's all I was able to squeeze out from him.

I did squeeze some more questions about any impending changes for the naked series for 2016, but nothing fruitful to be shared.

                        Cheers!

Thanks VJ. Much appreciated. I noticed that I have already switched off the ABS since its not glowing anymore, during the trial and error method.
Also, sometimes my gear is remaining in first even when its showing neutral. Happened twice today.
RPM idling is also near 2000. Any way I can change that?

Showroom guys didn't give any invoice or any manual. Said manual should br checked online.
And invoice and other documents will be given when it is registered.
I know the showroom people so I took the delivery anyway.
