Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I dont mean to offend anyone's feelings, but what is the durability and quality of this RC? Coming from Yamaha's excellent quality,I am having doubts. Any issues like engine/body paint chip off, rattles, battery problems? I have a kickstart option on my bike,so never did I have to worry when the battery was almost dead.
What is the highest kms u all have on the odo and what issues have u faced?
Btw,there is a N300 Pearl White on display as the showroom, apparently the last one in stock.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Like I said before most of the issues have been solved in the later batches. If you worry about battery problems you can always opt for orange assist. They will take your bike to the showroom for free if you live within 100 kms for free. All bikes have their respective niggles, but nothing so severe has been there even in the very first rc models.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostI dont mean to offend anyone's feelings, but what is the durability and quality of this RC? Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I have my RC 390 for 8 months now, have clocked 8000 kms. The only real issue I had was a faulty radiator fan that was replaced under warranty a few months ago and all is fine.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostI dont mean to offend anyone's feelings, but what is the durability and quality of this RC? I was out of town for almost 10 days and didn't use the bike. The 11th morning I tried to start it up and it didn't. I just pushed it 8-10 feet and tried to start in motion, it worked. So that's not an issue either.
Coming to the Rattling of Fairing and Battery Cover, a simple DIY fixed it for me. Here goes-
The fairing and batter cover have no rubber washer(s) and there is plastic to plastic contact causing rattles. I just opened up the fairing and Battery cover, used cheap (Rs. 25), locally sourced Double-Sided tape, stuck it on exactly two spots where the white fairing piece is in contact with the black one and Done! No more rattling of fairing. Been almost 5 months, running rattle free. Same goes with the battery cover. Just tape to make it fit really snug. You cannot see the Tape until you open up the battery cover or the fairing so it's not a shabby DIY either.
The last part, the Ninja 300. It costs almost 2L more than the RC 390 On-Road. Doesn't get ABS and the rear wheel locks real quick. The braking power is good but the rear wheel locking up is dangerous. The Bike won't usually have issues but if in case it does, it will stay at the service center for a very very long time. If it's not covered under warranty, it will cost a lot too. Service costs are almost double. So if you're willing to shell out cash both initially and for maintenance, like the Pearl White(personally I don't) and you can manage without ABS, close your eyes and buy the Ninja 300. Cheers!

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I just sold my 4 year old Fazer today. The new owner happily rode it away. It found a new home afterall.
Thanks thrustrev and rohangk. Was confused between the R3,N300 and RC390.Decided on the RC390. R3 and N300 is not feeling VFM at all. Will get the papers submitted tomorrow. I totally agree about the ownership costs of the CBUs like R3 and N300.
Need a cheap&best paddock stand or any workaround (someone somewhere used a car jack) I would be more than happy to use something as small as a car jack as I'm very sure the paddock stand would magically disappear when I ride off with the bike.

If you can afford go for N300 eyes closed, you will enjoy the ride on a twin for years.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostI dont mean to offend anyone's feelings, but what is the durability and quality of this RC? Never go up? Any coolant should/will go up to 8 bars, no matter what. If it doesn't , your bike is not running at optimum temperature.Originally posted by DoubleagentZ View Postyea used the engineice coolant

I ment the ones above that where are fan turns onOriginally posted by ynike99 View PostNever go up? Any coolant should/will go up to 8 bars, no matter what. If it doesn't , your bike is not running at optimum temperature.
there is a drastic change
nor ally the fan would be on for a longer time
now it hardly reaches the temp when the fan needs to be turned on and it stays on for lesser intervals of time
got the fan checked cause I though it had some problems but everything was perfect and it was just the coolant doing its job
try it u will also notice a huge difference

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
The quote is as follows..for Kolkata registration.
Ex-show: 2,22,150
Tax: 22,215
Regn.: 2101
1 year insurance: 5585
On road total: 2,52,501
The dealer is not agreeing to insurance done by me. I have two options. To haggle with them to give me a discount of 1800 on insurance.Or let me do the insurance myself which will be a cover bearing the engine and chassis number, without any regn number. Need some help. I wont mind haggling to get the best deal.
This dealer has 3 KTM showrooms and there is no other competitor in this state.
