The reason I went with IFFCO TOKIO is my service center has a tie up with them for Cashless Claims. Not many companies provide cashless claims when it comes to 2-Wheelers.

P.S- I have heard a lot of people complain about claims when it comes to Bajaj Allianz.

Actually to reduce the premium, you can opt to pay claim charges, starting from Rs. 500 per claim. So if you have a policy that requires claim charges, you will have to pay them.
Zero dep insurance usually applies to new vehicles and is usually only applicable only for first 3 years.
You just have to pay the processing fees and is very minimal.

Zero dep insurance usually has a limited number of claims you can make during the year, so as to avoid people from making claims for every small dent as no costs are involved.

Since it applies to new vehicles, the IDV doesn't come onto play and the insurance is done on the actual cost of vehicle.

My car has a zero dep from ICICI Lombard. I had made a claim on it and just had to pay 4k processing fee on an insured value of 50 lac.

I'm not aware of the claim cost system.

        Lol
Zero dep means you won't have to pay any money from your pocket while making a claim except a small processing fee.
In a comprehensive insurance, the company take in account the depreciation of the value of parts and will pay accordingly (they have some complex formula to calculate this) the rest of the cost has to be borne by the owner.
While buying the policy just make sure that if you take a Zero dep insurance, is the extra premium justified over taking a comprehensive one.

Usually all the reputed insurance companies provide zero dep.
I think even bajaj should. You can buy any insurance which you feel suits you according to premium rates.

Though you may not get cashless facility from your dealership if you go with some other company.

Cashless facility is basically that your dealership and the insurance company deal directly and the payments are done directly. Your involvement is not required. It's an added convenience.

Ask your dealership with which other companies do they have cashless facility.

In a Zero Depreciation insurance, basically they pay full amount for the parts and repair while you have to just pay the claim/processing charges.

In a comprehensive insurance, they usually consider the age of the part and what not, it's a complicated calculation. They basically depreciate the value and pay the money. You'll have to pay the remaining amount.

In both the kind of policies mentioned above, when you make a claim, you will have to pay the bill amount and a few days later, the insurance company will credit the money into your account.

In case your service center has a tie-up with an insurance company and you purchase a policy from that insurance company, when you go in for a claim to that service center, you just have to pay the processing/claim charges and the rest will be paid directly to the service center by the insurance company.

To simplify the insurance even further.

Zero dep can can be availed from the showroom during taking delivery or post renewal period, this is irrespective of the insurance provider.

Zero dep is certainly an eye-wash, though it covers, rubber, nylon fiber, plastsic etc cetera the fine print can sometime be misleading as say insurance guys only entertain certain parts, not completely though, such can be a hindrance in case of a mishap

Thirdly, zero dep is a max of two years and maximum of two claims/per year. After two years you revert back to standard, remember zero dep is an sub segment, on the insurance segment, not a segment itself.

                    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                    THE END

As I earlier said, it depends on the service provider. Most of the insurance providers have it for 2 years max. Bajaj certainly seems to have extended the policy that's not bad, but ultimately zero dep/nil dep is only temporary and not a permanent option. For nil depreciation add on say 1000 to 1500 Rupees is still charged on the party, that is a loss. Banks have complicated formulas and red tape they try to reduce as much as they can when it comes to accident/damage reimbursement.

                        Cheers!

Just a update on my tyre crack issue if someone is following up.

After doing a bit of chit - chat and research, there's some good news.

I've used the front cracked tyre for 5000 km till now. So I will pay 3000₹ and they'll gimme a new Metzeler as an exchange

Sounds a lot better than paying for the whole new tyre.

Other people those can see cracks in their tyre in new bike should talk to their service center.

First post on xbhp. Can't wait to get my RC 390 this Friday BTW what gloves do you guys use can you recommend any good gloves below 2.5k? I'm thinking of Alpinestars Spartan Gloves: Black [ASTSPAGK] for now. Mostly for city use and might go once or twice a month to Pondicherry (120 kms from my place)

This was the only issue I was worried about before getting the RC 390 and I'm happy to see they'll replace it for 3k. Wouldn't wanna pay 17k for both tyres after few thousand kms.

The Porur and AshokPillar ones. Both dont have a test drive bike. Did you get a chance to do a test drive? I would have chosen Adyar's but its kind of far from where I reside compared to these two.

Yeah the Porur rep said that a lot will be coming on 22 or 23rd. But what was weird is that he said that this was the first batch of 2016 models being rolled out LOL!
