Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Are you referring to the design of European plates, like the symbols or black/chrome base, unlike the white one in India?Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostAnybody tried taking off the hsrp regn plates? I want to fit the german kind of plates.

This one to be precise. I want to remove the RTO fitted plates safely so that I can refit them if need be.Originally posted by AngadV View PostAre you referring to the design of European plates, like the symbols or black/chrome base, unlike the white one in India?

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
As far as I'm aware, you can fit any sort of plate that you want, as long as it follows a few basic criteria regarding legibility and such. These days bikes dont come with plates from RTO anyways, you have an option to get it done on your own, so I dont think there would be any problem with the plates you've decided. As for the current plates, just tell the guy from whom you're getting it done to give you back the old platesOriginally posted by SpeedyKol View PostThis one to be precise. Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Lots of people have, its an issue that seems to crop up with larger readings on the ODO, and in a few particular model, I think early 2015, not sure though. An ASC will provide warranty replacement if there's any problem with itOriginally posted by VIJAY ''BIKER'' CHAUHAN View PostHi has anyone faced issues with the fan, and has anyone got it changed under warranty

I've the German style plates. I don't have the pics currently in my phone right now. If you don't mind, can I upload them tomorrow?

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
you seem to be unaware of the 'high security registration plate' rule being implemented across the country. some states (e.g. telangana) have already started issuing these plates and come with a hologram and unique code stamped on the plates.Originally posted by AngadV View PostAs far as I'm aware, you can fit any sort of plate that you want, as long as it follows a few basic criteria regarding legibility and such. the plates are fixed on the bike at the rto once your number is allotted, and they are fixed using rivets which cannot be removed using a screwdriver/spanner.
here is some news on the new observation/judgement by the court asking government to implement it asap.
High Security Registration Plates Scheme: Supreme Court issues guidelines
over a period of time even the older vehicles would need to be converted to use these hsrp plates.
taking them off is a simple job if you have a drill and some skill in drilling out. otherwise take to a mechanic/machine shop and they should be able to drill out the rivet in 2 minutes and remove the plate without damage to any other part on the bike.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostAnybody tried taking off the hsrp regn plates? If your bike is equipped with a HSRP, then removing them and installing anything else is illegal. Don't blame the authorities if you end up being fined one fine day

Yes, these plates looks good for a car but might not on motorcycle.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostThis one to be precise. I want to remove the RTO fitted plates safely so that I can refit them if need be.
You can take out the plate easily :
1. By a drill machine. Do your Google search on how to cut rivets.
2. You could use a hex-blade also, costs around 20-30₹ but you need some experience with it.
As already mentioned by s1d, the hologram is not just a printed design, it's a high security plate. Designed for our convenience.
But if you still mess up during removing the plate, you will have to report it to the nearest police station, get an FIR (something they call it), approach to your RTO along with the police paper for new plate. And you will receive new plate after paying some money in 15-20 days.First I was Scared But then We Made a Deal

how much did the MC cost you ?Originally posted by Rahul.g View Posti just changed the master cylinder, not the caliper.
BTW this has improved braking by a lot, the feel and bite are very good now, ample amount of stopping power but still lacks a bit of initial bite.

I had issues with the fan. It had trouble starting up and it was spinning slowly. They replaced the fan under warranty but they still charged for labor.Originally posted by VIJAY ''BIKER'' CHAUHAN View PostHi has anyone faced issues with the fan, and has anyone got it changed under warranty

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
ideally they shouldn't charge you the labor during warranty. i've had some stuff replaced such as the front disc, fork oil seal and never paid a penny for labor. though they once tried to bill 100rs for the disc change, i stood my ground and they struck off the charges.Originally posted by maharajan18 View PostI had issues with the fan. you might though have to pay for the fluids i.e. coolant/engine oil/fork oil if work related to these consumables are carried out.
bottom line.. they will try to squeeze money out of you and they will have a 100 reasons/excuses to push those charges. you have to take a call on how you want to push them to get your money's worth.
even though i refuse to pay certain charges as i mentioned above, i make it a point to tip the mechanic 50 or 100 bucks once in a while. It maintains the rapport and some minor work at times gets done quickly for free.
If they try to talk 'rules' to me, they know that it's as good as them lying down and asking a road roller to go over them
