Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
It looks fine only O.oOriginally posted by Syed Mustafa View Post This one.
And you'll have a lot of problems trying to get SVC guys to get it warranty replaced, they won't budge unless you can prove it definitely wasn't your fault

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Guys quick question, for some reason whenever I apply back brake, after just 1-2 seconds the back tyre fishtails (very minor, as ABS kicks in). If I let go after that, and press it again, ABS gets engaged almost immediately.
Its not really a problem as ABS saves my ass every time, but obviously I'd rather not ignore this, so any suggestions?
My ODO is like 6.5k, I think that's too low for it to be tyre wearing out..
Thanks!

Me too, in fact I don't even use rear brakes normally, and I'm very used to not using it. I'd say I use it 10% of the times.Originally posted by nilesh9777 View Postits fine.

My issue here is that I have to find the reason, if its brakes I'll get it checked at next service, but if its the tyre or something else, then its not safe to continue using it heavily like how I do, I WILL have to get it checked out, otherwise I'm putting myself at risk.
Thanks for the quick reply!

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
According to my knowledge ABS avoid wheel locking but if you use only rear brakes even at low speed it will slightly fish tail (not heavy fish tail) but it will not lock. You can check your rear tyre and brake pads wear tear.Originally posted by AngadV View PostMe too, in fact I don't even use rear brakes normally, and I'm very used to not using it.!

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Not sure why they charged me for Labor. But when I asked the service manager he said labor will not be covered under warranty.Originally posted by s1d View Postideally they shouldn't charge you the labor during warranty. i've had some stuff replaced such as the front disc, fork oil seal and never paid a penny for labor. though they once tried to bill 100rs for the disc change, i stood my ground and they struck off the charges.
you might though have to pay for the fluids i.e. coolant/engine oil/fork oil if work related to these consumables are carried out.
bottom line.. they will try to squeeze money out of you and they will have a 100 reasons/excuses to push those charges. you have to take a call on how you want to push them to get your money's worth.
even though i refuse to pay certain charges as i mentioned above, i make it a point to tip the mechanic 50 or 100 bucks once in a while. It maintains the rapport and some minor work at times gets done quickly for free.
If they try to talk 'rules' to me, they know that it's as good as them lying down and asking a road roller to go over them
Problem is, there are no clear guidelines on this subject from KTM.
Even for the so called free services they charged me for both parts and labor and subtracted just Rs 140 as free service coupon discount from the final bill. I paid close to Rs 2000 for all 3 of my free services. Did they charge you like this for the free services?

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Well free service is free upto a certain extent. U will have to pay for thr fresh engine oil, oil filter which totals at around 13-1400 including taxes and everything. Now they will ask u if u need chain cleaning, lubing polishing etc. Politely say no if u dont require them. Paid services should be done from a known mechanic if u are not happy with ktm service centre.Originally posted by maharajan18 View PostNot sure why they charged me for Labor. Those services are free only in the free service, but they add labour for it I think.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostWell free service is free upto a certain extent. Now that my free services are over I will deny it, as 150 for chain lube+200 for wash+labour of 200 again is an unnecessary expenditure for something we can do so easily ourselves. My free services came up to 1700-1800, a tad bit more than yours for some reason

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
They changed the fuel filter as well for 100.that increased the bill to 1400. Otherwise it was 1300. No labour will be charged for work which is mentioned at the back of the free service coupon.
I enjoy cleaning and lubing the chain on a sunday at home. It feels great. By the way I dont use expensive motul stuff for chain cleaning/lubing.

Hey why did you have the front disc replaced? I'm having problems with the front brake again..Originally posted by s1d View Postideally they shouldn't charge you the labor during warranty. i've had some stuff replaced such as the front disc, fork oil seal and never paid a penny for labor. though they once tried to bill 100rs for the disc change, i stood my ground and they struck off the charges.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
The front was making a high pitch squealing sound after the rotor was warmed up.. It was replaced under warranty (first we did all sorts of cleaning n scrubbing pads/rotors, then pads were replaced under warranty and finally the rotor) this was around 2300km on the odo iirc in just a couple of months after buying the bike.Originally posted by Amodraut View PostHey why did you have the front disc replaced? During free services, they only charge around 100-150rs as 'consumables' plus the charges for the parts(oil, filters n any other part)Originally posted by maharajan18 View PostNot sure why they charged me for Labor. Some guys charge extra for chain lubing. (I avoid those sprays and my svc is friendly enough to do it using used engine oil for free or use the lube that I provide). In the 23500km that I've covered so far, my chain has been oiled with used engine oil 70% of the time!
These days I've been getting oil on amazon at a great price i.e. 580-600(against the 805rs mrp at svc) bucks for the 7100
which saves me a tidy 300 bucks.
