Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Yes the exhaust note has definitely improved. Its more loud and at times give crackles, specially when you use speed 97. After the second service the punch gets more.Originally posted by SuperShaan View PostHey! Has anyone else felt that as your ODO is increasing, the exhaust note is also getting better and louder? My RC390 has done almost 7.5k and it sounds much better than it used to be when the bike was new. Is it just me or anyone else also felt that?
Out of topic: Took the bike for a ride after a month. 200 kms ride. The wide grin is back on my face.
This bike is addictive!!

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
If my memory serves me correct, I replied to a similar post on a Duke related forum. As kilometers clock, carbon deposits gets deposited over piston and in the intake, this changes the sound of the engine sound. Gone are the tinny, treble engine note. What you would hear is now a bassy, deep arrogant tone -- to put it that way.Originally posted by SuperShaan View PostHey! Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Have you lubed the chain? Check your clutch adjustment and if chain is lubed or not.Originally posted by SubhashGowda07 View PostHaving trouble with gearbox, not able to downshift first gear from neutral/2nd gear, I have to hit the gear pedal so hard from my foot to bring first gear, why is it ?

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
While riding home today there was a loud sound as if some nail had gone in my back tyre.. Don't know if it was a stone or anything else.. Checked my back tyre and it has some minor cuts on it everywhere... Is this normal on the metz? And if there is a nail in there is it anything to worry about?

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Yes, most of us have come across situations where we happen to go over a sharp or a tapered object, like stone, or what not. Actually minor cuts are cracks are inevitable, mostly due to our road conditions and these being very soft tires, expectation shouldn't be set high. If there is a nail, do not remove it, unless you know how to handle a tubeless puncture kit. Else, take it to a nearest Tire Dealership and get the nail removed so that they will install the patch for you. If you remove the nail, you lose air pressure. In fact it's the nail that's keeping the pressure inside without leaking from the tire. Small nicks here are nothing to be alarmed of.Originally posted by Amodraut View PostWhile riding home today there was a loud sound as if some nail had gone in my back tyre.. If the nail isn't removed from the tyre, what damage can it do in the long run.. Say if I ride with a small nail unnoticed... Is it harmful?Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostYes, most of us have come across situations where we happen to go over a sharp or a tapered object, like stone, or what not. I just love these metz. Its hard to see what they go through on our roads.

Of course, depending on the the length of the object that's pierced the tire, it will tear the tire apart.Originally posted by Amodraut View PostIf the nail isn't removed from the tyre, what damage can it do in the long run.. Say if I ride with a small nail unnoticed... Is it harmful?

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Get it checked by at the svc. Apart from the chain, check if the gear lever and the tie rod are in good shape (i've seen some cases where the tie rod is bent or the adjustment threads on it are shot)Originally posted by SubhashGowda07 View PostHaving trouble with gearbox, not able to downshift first gear from neutral/2nd gear, I have to hit the gear pedal so hard from my foot to bring first gear, why is it ?
One last thing is you might need to replace the 'gear shift shaft' or the "shift stopper drum". The first one being the one that is attached to the gear shift lever(goes thru the gear box from right to left. They are pretty easy to check and replace and don't cost a bomb. Issues with these two part would cause poor downshifts and the lever not returning to its default position after a shift.
I've had these parts replaced (on the day i took delivery of the bike.. probably because they weren't installed correctly at factory). And I've also seen a couple of bikes that came in with similar issues (bikes that were run 15k +km) and they were replacing these parts.
Here is a prev post of mine showing the parts:
