Im getting my teen monster very soon and even though I am quite happy with how the bike is, especially after the updates on the RC (after duke's issues) and pretty much good user reviews; I can't help but think about what "MAJOR" changes in quality/performance will happen? And changes in Visuals too?? Were you able to get any details?, can you try get them now? Basically If there are major performance upgrades I would want them to be replicated in the older models too :P (I cant wait till april batch now, but will be happy to know that the changes can flow through to older models!) ...

Bro in my view if you don't have an RC book it indeed might be a problem ... while the registration number confirms the bike is registered ...the RC confirms that YOU own the bike and its not stolen :P Not sure how much a tax reciept will help or if it has your name etc. Also, most cops will start stressing on "RC book dikha, RC kaha hai!!" wherein your explanation might not work.

On a side note, the RC book arrives in ike 3 days here in chennai!...or max 10 days otherwwise I believe!. Maybe you can push on that front too.

If you really want to go, maybe after the papers you have and depending on your cop-convincing skills, you sould get away with about 1000rs total bribe to the cops during the trip (im just saying :P ) .... I don't think you will face a major problem like cops impounding our bike (clearly the bike is new and the RC not arriving is understandable, plus you will have the showroom payment reciept) .
Hey thanks a ton! Im worried about them impounding my bike. The rest I should be able to get out of with/without a bribe. Hopefully being Goan will give me some credit :-D

          Hey,

Does anyone here know how the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) for the RC 390 works? I noted it down for three bike currently in the showroom and below are their numbers -

          VBK - JY - J4 - K5 - FC2 - 16320
          VBK - JY - J4 - K7 - FC2 - 17002
          VBK - JY - J4 - K4 - FC2 - 17023

as per showroom guy "F" stands for 2015 ... also month of manufacture should be given right?

Would be great to know so that I can check on the bike I will get.

          Cheers!

Yes F stands for 2015. KTM doesnt include numerical month of manufacture. The original bill with which showroom purchased the bike has it, if the manager is willing to show you that.

Appreciate the snap, would love to see more quarter angle, radiator, clutch side casing, if you can, would be of great help.

If you see the pic i posted, it does not have any plastic cover, and the unit is dated 24/01/2015.
Ktm must've thought that rc will be used only for tracks. Hence the omission of this cover, and fender extender
And another reason is to keep the weight low, howmuchever less it may seem
Edit: dukes fender extender doesnt fit rc😓

I am glad you got a c-spanner in your toolkit. Mine did not come with it and service center straightaway refused to even acknowledge the request. They said there is no such tool in tool kit.

I'm not sure about the VIN but there is another number that can tell if its a 15 model or a 14. There is a number on the right hand side of the bike near the bottom of the engine. If it starts with a 5, its a 15 and if it starts with a four its a 14 model.
                              Eg. 5-1234567 is a 15 model
                              4-7654321 is a 14 model.

My bike was delivered to me at 1.15pm on Feb 5th. The fuel gauge literally wasn't working! Warning light and 0km range! I had nearly 6L of fuel. So I just called the showroom and went there by 1.40pm. They asked me to leave the bike and collect it the next day! Once I started bashing them, they agreed to deliver it by 5pm same day with the issue fixed! And they did! I have no issues as of now. I'm not sure if this is for real but the seat seems a little thicker than the older model. Part from that almost no visual differences!

So I got my first service done at Pheonix Mills Ktm, Mumbai
was charged INR 1693 for the service. The next service on the bike is set at 7500 Kms however on asking the service manager he said please stick to what is in your owners manual and when I told him the new guys have 7500 printed in the book hes like those engines are made that way . The service supervisor said 7500 kms is for European countries not for India.
has anyone serviced their bikes here ?
the wash was pathetic my bike was shiny before the wash and after the wash it had water marks all over

Was not happy with their service/attitude at all
