Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Best way is to carry it in your hand, or get a bag which has provision for carrying helmets, or strap it to existing shoulder strap of your backpack. Keeping it on the bike may result in vandalising helmet. Or, another option is to fabricate a topbox and keep it in that.Originally posted by jRay View PostYou misunderstood me lol. I carry it in my hand after i park the bike eg in college or at a mall etc when im not riding. I ALWAYS wear a helmet when i am riding.

That looks ugly as hell. Agreed thats the best way to carry around the helmet.Originally posted by ynike99 View PostBest way is to carry it in your hand, or get a bag which has provision for carrying helmets, or strap it to existing shoulder strap of your backpack. Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I saw a guy on his D390 with similar cover for his monoshock and which was some kind of cloth made material and always has wanted one as it's painful cleaning them by ourselves.Originally posted by bikersdream View Post
A guy on ebay selling this monoshock cover made of rexin material.
I bought it for 400 rs.
It looks cool.
BUT DON'T BUY.
ITS NEARBY SILENCER AND GETTING TOO MUCH HOT IN 20 minutes ride.
Its increasing risks of FIRE.
I just removed it.
My concern here is, does the cloth material too risk us of fire or what?
Considered your caution of staying away from rexin!
P.s. I seriously do not know what rexin material is, I shall hit Google right away [emoji14]

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
there is a good chance even cloth can catch fire (i have had the oil from the chain flung on the exhaust and when ridden hard the exhaust gets so hot that some of this oil burns off and i can see smoke on my D200) i would suggest you stay away from such accessories. rexine is the material that is used for the seat covers.Originally posted by Yashas Rl View PostI saw a guy on his D390 with similar cover for his monoshock and which was some kind of cloth made material and always has wanted one as it's painful cleaning them by ourselves.

i pity you rc owners
at least the dukes from late 2014 have a hard plastic cover and a flap that protects the monoshock from dirt.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Reserve to Reserve as per my calculations is full to "Low Fuel Level" warning. That's approximately 7-7.4L. So Im getting about 20kmpl.Originally posted by AngadV View PostI took mine in bangalore traffic too today, showed average of around 22, while I know thats not too accurate, you're getting around 14 kmpl, isn't that way too less? My friend's duke 390 too manages 20 kmpl.

thats one heck of a portable barbecue grill
anyways guys need a lil help
my mileage sucks
it's around 69 miles reserve to reserve method which would be about 111 kms which would give me 13 :-/
so a lil help is needed
average speed of mine is around 40-45 kms and I usually switch gears at 6,000 rpm and it's mostly city driving and a lil both of gali driving included
first service done
but they didn't change the spark plug in it nor I know if it had to be changed
and bs should I try using Xtraprenium fuel?
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Sorry, average speed is about 50-60kms 60% and 30-35kms 40%
used to miles and not kms

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
It's FI so its pretty tough to identify the mileage.for a Carb u can use the last drop of fuel but for FI chances of blowing it is more with less fuel.Originally posted by DoubleagentZ View PostMaa far as I can remember it was just chain cleaning

Still the bike should give atleast 20 in city(if u don't redline in every gear)
I think you can check the clutch settings just once more.that's the only thing I can think off.or may be the air filter of its fitted properly or not faulty.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Mine was September 2015 model, came with 4.8KM on ODO, hopefully thats not tampered, but bike looks fine, works well. Not gotten registration number yet, but rode it around 30KM on Sunday in city, vibrations are there, but nowhere close to what I've heard it would be like. It does heat up quite a bit at signals and bumper to bumper traffic, but again, that issue too is highly overrated. The fan sounds kinda weird, its much louder than I'd have expected, so I need to get used to that. Otherwise its an amazing bike, despite being my first bike, I found it really easy to handle, I guess its the Metz that give that confidence to lean it so much, and the riding posture too has a good sports bike feeling, I've not had any back pain, and some minor wrist pain, which is relieved as soon as you grip the tank with your thighs. The bike looks amazing too, attracts a LOT of looks from people around./Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostGot G in the 8th digit and F in the 10th. So its Oct 2015 model. Considering its WB where the taxes are pretty high,Final price was 2.46 + free helmet. Getting delivery tomorrow.
How much was urs? Got delivery? Mind sharing some pics?
Now where can I find the cheapest price for a paddock stand? Need something for chain cleaning and other maintenance stuff.
Running in period is a huge pain, I managed a 65KM/h speed in 5th gear, it reaches 6000rpm way too easily (Manual says 7.5K but I keep a limit of 6K for myself so that even if it exceeds a bit it wouldn't matter). I did cross the limit just once though to get a feel of how powerful it actually is, and the surge of power felt was amazing.
Overall loving this bike
I do have a tiny question, coolant should be between min and max right? Mine is there, but its pretty close to MIN, and looks a lot lesser than it should be, but when I pointed it out he told its normal, is that okay?

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
A better way to obtain a reliable FE figure would be to:Originally posted by DoubleagentZ View PostMaa far as I can remember it was just chain cleaning
oil change and filter change
was getting the same milage back to

1. Tank full -- reset trip to 0
2. Ride around 150km
3. Tank full -- note down how much fuel goes in 'X'
4. FE = 150/X
Do not go by the fuel gauge/reserve assumptions. A FE of around 20kmpl in the city traffic is normal for the RC390 (from what i have heard from other users)
On a relatively new bike with good quality fuel and proper service (filters, oil, coolant changed maintained correctly), the one other item that you should check (or simply replace) would be the O2 sensor (that's present on your exhaust). If the O2 sensor isn't working properly, then there is a chance that the engine is not getting the right amount of fuel(too rich) leading to bad FE.
