Check the pic that Irvin put. It has 3 clutch springs against 5 of a normal Duke. Unless those 3 springs are stiffened, clutch action should be light.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Yes the slipper clutch is coming for real, as posted by Ivin(who works for ktm) yesterday, and to identify it, in the newer lots coming with slipper clutch, theres one fork protector on the inside of fork.Originally posted by jackofsome View Postcan you please tell me if the slipper clutch is now actually coming for real?
as far as i know it helps only while downshifting when if you dont rev match the wheel wont lock up. can you please elaborate how it pertains to a softer clutch as i would love to have a softer clutch, dont care much about slipper clutch per se.
n pics coming soon as you asked

The slipper clutch is soft because it has 3 springs instead of 5. My bike does not have slipper clutch, but is remarkably softer than duke 390 i have ridden.
And about tail tidy, i thought its a diy. I too have something in mind, lets see what it turns out to be.Motorcycling heals, big time...

Wow pretty neat for a DIY!!!Originally posted by jackofsome View Postok the fender eliminator is DIY.
the friend with the ninja is an engineer in the truest of sense.
he has everything you need for DIY.
so opened up the bike, made it ourselves, put a hazard light switch too.
will soon post some closeup shot by today evening.
coming to the exhaust- the ninja 300 has a leovince n its LOUD in a good way.
my exhaust is on the way from UK too.
its a Fuel F1R race can.
Sorry for the OT, but is that Ninja on some different suspension setup?? Looks like she is sitting quite high with so much ground clearance. Any Ninja 300 owners here can explain..

Waiting to hear the bike roar with that exhaust, do post a video of the sound of the bike
nope its a stock setup. its a illusion i guess due to a tail tidy. besides that he has set it up to the second hardest setti g. thats all.Originally posted by wallpapers123 View PostWow pretty neat for a DIY!!!

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Hello Everybody, I am new to xbhp. Its been a week since I owned RC 390. The bike is really awesome. Slipper Clutch or not it doesn't matter to me. The real concern to me as of now is the sitting posture. After 15 mins of riding my wrist starts hurting. 10 more mins and my wrists starts to numb. 30 mins max I can ride it at a stretch. Will this improve with practice or should I really be looking at handlebar risers'.

Everybody who upgrades to a sporty bike from a commuter bike, complains about the wrists paining. It will pain for a few weeks, till you get used to the aggressive riding posture.Originally posted by ammaity View PostHello Everybody, I am new to xbhp. Its been a week since I owned RC 390. Don't grip the bike tightly with the wrists. Try gripping the tank with your knees to relieve the wrists and shoulders from straining. Gripping the tank with knees is hard for too long, so keep on shifting your weight every few minutes from wrists to knees and vice versa. different riders with different heights, use different postures. So there is no hard and fast rule. A few thousand kms, and you'll find the posture that would suit you the best, and then you can enjoy the ride to the fullest.
And this is just the start, wait till you travel long distance with a pillion. its a nightmare for shoulders and wrists. Improvise and adopt, brother.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
RSS Alert: Fresh stocks of newer D390s nakeds have arrived at the dealership here. Apparently received a call from a senior mechanic, (kind of him to do so) that all the 18 dukes are installed with slipper clutch and all the corrections we've discussed earlier, including the front fork plastic protector. So it's official and unloading as we speak.
Will be heading there tomorrow. More pics to follow tomorrow or the earliest.
Folks who are waiting to book a ride, now is the right time. Go ahead creeplings!
Cheers!

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Thanks Ankey....Got alot to learn from you guys. IMO, Slipper clutch will not come without a premium price tag and without extensive marketing because RC closest rival Ninja 300 has it and KTM would highlight it properly before they launch.

I think KTM/Bajaj will keep the price unaffected even though they are addition of slipper clutch and some issues rectified.Originally posted by ammaity View PostThanks Ankey....Got alot to learn from you guys. the simple reason is that current price of RC390 is very competitive as compared to ninja (2.4+ VS 4+)
if price is increased say by 30-40K more then still its price competitive but prospective buyers will surely think a lot before taking decision.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the RC is not going to get a slipper clutch in the future. The reason being as below.
1. Bajaj is still grappling to produce vehicles that meets the demands. There is a huge backlog of bookings that they have to clear. With some knowledge of manufacturing that I have, you do not modify an assembly line (via adding extra process for the slipper clutch) when you are still trying to meet demand.
2. The demand for RC is high from Austria for import. The same bike is imported there. If not in India, they will atleast make the announcement pan Europe if there are mechanical changes to the bike (EU regulatiions, A3 license?).
3. Slipper clutch required the whole clutch assembly to be re-modded and not only the springs. The springs might assist in easier operation of the clutch (the earlier D390 clutches were hard) but no way transforms to a slipper clutch.
All said and done, the Duke 390 which is now in production more nearly 2 years might get a slipper clutch in the future but not without an announcement worldwide (consider that the same bike is exported to EU and US). For the RC we have to wait for atleast 6-7 months or more to get any mod simply because demand and supply has to stabilize.
Once the slipper clutch comes to RC, we should be able to install it on the older ones as well (Slipper clutch is available as a KTM powerpart as of now for RC8)
Source : Discussed with some of my friends in Sales and Production for Automobiles
P.S: Do not downshift like crazy hoping that there is a slipper clutch. Rest assured Bajaj will tell you long before they put the Slipper clutch on the bikes. There is no better therapy than riding a bike down a straight road at full throttle with the sound of the engine for company.
