  • Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience

Had a 300 kms ride on the RC yesterday in the rains with a kilometer or so of offroading. The metz are bliss in the rains and so is the frame. Was doing 110-120 in strong rains and head on winds. Bike stuck to its line, felt great good grip on the tires and stopping power was good with the combo of abs and metz.
These tires or bike are not meant for offroads. Navigated a km stretch of slush and mud and the metz had no grip. The huge power that is sent down to the wheels also is a big problem making the wheel spin multiple times of you do twist the throttle! The foot pegs are not wide enough for you to stand on.
Bigger section tires with a higher profile and some crazy treads are needed for offroads.
But am glad with the metz performance in the wet.. At 4K on the odo, the engine keeps getting better and better.

There is no better therapy than riding a bike down a straight road at full throttle with the sound of the engine for company.

Did rajmachi(an offroad haven near khandala) this sunday on the rc. The lowdown torque is really good, and i had a lot of fun, cant imagine how the 390 adv will be in this kind if terrain.
Also, a pic of diy fender extension for rains.

Haven't paid them yet as the parts store manager was absent today. Shall make the payment tomorrow and inform you. The only major problem faced is the handlelock but I feel that handle locks are very unreliable, to prove my point you can watch some youtube video where the handle lock can be broken just by putting pressure with your legs on the handlebar. So I decided to live without the handle bar lock and buy myself a disc brake lock, which i feel is more effective. But still if anybody wish to use the lock they can drill a hole onto the plate beside the previous hole.

For a detailed review shall try as early as I can. The front end feels so light now and the stance is not fully upright, its more like ninja 300 or cbr 250.

No the cables were not changed and they are not tight too but needs to be removed from the coil like hold.

Great going ammaity. Please do post the cost.
And one question. How is the clearance between the handlebar, levers with respect to mirrors and fairing? In the pic above it appears the lever is almost touching the mirror

Thank You mehuel. The clearance is more than enough. The mirrors can be folded and ridden too, no problem at all. People who have ridden the bike are more than impressed. I will give a detailed review later. I will upload the copy of the cash memo, please wait.
