thanks bro, thats what I worried, As its already hot in Mumbai during summer, hope the bike survive for 40-45 minutes in mild traffice on office way.

anyways will book finally as my heart is with RC

Their fan kicks in earlier than dukes, so no matter how hard you try, it will keep on spinning.
From what i know, duke/rc has the most cheapest coolant i.e ethylene glycol and water mixed in 50:50 ratio. And its basically a car coolant, it has silicates, which will eat out the gasket of waterpump eventually. Also the cooling isnt that great.
So that led me to search for some options used by big bikes, and me and my friend found out that most people are using engine ice, water wetter, vw g13 premix, and honda type 2 coolant.
Whats your take? Experts and sbk users, please opine, what you use.
I had posted on this topic before. Can be of some help

I had dabbled into the topic of coolants before when I had the high coolant temperature issue. After lots of reading on the net and comparing figures, I came to a conclusion that engine ice was only marginally better than the Motul coolant and that too in one or two aspects, namely specific heat and may be a bit of thermal conductivity. These two parameters might be a bit related but, the former means the ability of a liquid(or for that matter any mass) to absorb heat. The second is how well that heat is transferred between one part of that liquid to another. Metals have very poor specific heat, the reason they heat up in an instant while water, with one of the highest specific heat needs hundreds of calories more to attain the same temperature, also th reason coastal areas have a balmy climate throughout the year.
On the other hand Metals have very high heat conductivity as compared to liquids.
The challenge is striking a perfect balance between these two conflicting parameters to get an optimum mix for a particular engine type.
Both the motul coolant and engine ice seem well matched.
Bit off topic here sorry.. i need to replace the coolant on my R15 since its 2+ years old. But the big question is how to drain the reservoir? Can i suck the coolant from reservoir by inserting a tube? (Obvi without coolant getting into my mouth ) or is it harmful??

            Lol, that cracked me up.
Theres a drain bolt, near water pump, you need to find it and unscrew it.

Dude that can drain the coolant only from engine and radiator.. Not the reservoir :/ Here is the pic of reservoir just in case

Kanna.. laddu thinna aasaya !? ideally remove the reservoir and dump out content or use a 50ml syringe + catheter tube (easily available at medical shops)

Run the engine for a couple of minutes or so with the radiator cap open, also ive heard that raising the front end a little higher (use the main stand and hold the back seat down?) pushes the trapped air out in to the radiator and you can top off with coolant.

Do NOT run the engine when you're draining the radiator coolant. Air bubbles form due to no coolant and excess pressure from the water pump which in turn forms air gaps and reduces cooling efficiency. In a faired motorcycle, always follow a practice of removing the fairing for a easy job, unless you have arms like Shaggy from Scooby Doo. Removing the fairing eliminates 95% of space issues/what and where issues. It's pretty basic.

First, open the radiator cap, drain the coolant by undoing the drain bolt (depends on the bike) some have near water pump, some somewhere else, wait for a while, if needed flush it with the new coolant or flush it with demineralized water and then add then retighten the drain bolt, pour in the coolant in the radiator. Now start the engine, and let it idle, you will see coolant disappear, top it up and up until the radiator is full of coolant, with the engine running. Then tighten the radiator cap and top up the reservoir tank you're all set.

Never EVER run a bike with a completely drained radiator or filling the radiator ground up with the engine running. Always fill the radiator and then start the engine and then top up until it reaches the neck.

Else, kanna, you'll both have to eat three laddus each.

                      Cheers!

                      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

My bad, should have been more clear... the last part of my prev post did end with "top off with coolant"
I meant to run the engine after refilling it and while topping it off and NOT while draining it.

btw, ktm recommends to tilt the bike slightly to the right while topping off the coolant.

Is RC 390 good for long rides for 250 kms one way? need to know how comfortable the seats cushioning and seating position for such long rides?

Test rode the Duke 390 with slipper clutch. Except for the lighter clutch didnt notice much of a difference and yes it had engine braking too

I drove the bike from DEHRADUN to Delhi in a bit less then 4:30 hours, and totally comfortable. After that I went to office also for 9 hours. No problem. It's all about just getting used to 👍😊
