Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Two and a half grand for that small piece of rubber is still pretty expensive, I think. I'm thinking of doing a bit of DIY with a transparent Silicone sheet and just stick it to the tank, but I'm unable to source such a small piece of Silicone anywhere in the market...Originally posted by ynike99 View PostI was on a lookout for these traction dots since day one. Stompgrips were expensive at 4.5k, and Keiti traction dots were for 2.6k.
I tried searching for a cheaper option, but couldn't find anything feasible. So got the keitis from planetdsg, mumbai.
To begin with, keep the bike and the dots out in the sun, mark the area of thigh contact with sketchpen, use rubbing alcohol and cotton to clean the area, and stick the dots.
Needs some adjustment as you come down, but not a big deal.
While sticking these, ensure no air gets entrapped, else its a huge p.i.t.@ to remove bubbles from each dot.
The glue seems strong, and unless someone fingers around, I dont see any reason why they should come off.

I can help. The non slip mats used in car dashboard can do the trick. I am planning to experiment too.Originally posted by wallpapers123 View PostTwo and a half grand for that small piece of rubber is still pretty expensive, I think. Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
It's not exactly rubber or silicon that we find in the market. The material is soft enough to give you the required grip and hard enough not to deform under pressure. The glue used is safe for your motorcycle paint which won't ruin it when you decided to take it off.Originally posted by wallpapers123 View PostTwo and a half grand for that small piece of rubber is still pretty expensive, I think. These are Keiti traction dots and as said earlier stomp grips are around 4-5k they do offer a better feel and durability. I've actually tried both that's why I'm saying. Keiti's are good enough for city use but after like 30 min of acceleration and brakes they tend to show lack of grip while stompgrips are yet to show me their limit even in the track. They are more reliable while braking and moving around on the bike. My point is just to say that the price difference certainly has performance difference behind it.Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
The KTMs are locally manufactured, so the tank covers are dirt cheap,(At least in the case of Dukes, not sure of RCs), so even if you do mess it up, the damage won't be that bad.Originally posted by R-series View PostIt's not exactly rubber or silicon that we find in the market. I won't even think about doing such a DIY on my Future Ninja or a Daytona, but since the grips/ pads are more expensive than the tank cover itself, it just doesn't make any sense to me to pay such a high amount of money for such a low tech

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Hey bro I was once as ignorant as you are now but the grips are not just pads. They are used to hold the tank firmly with knees relieving pressure from the wrist. I hope we are clear.Originally posted by wallpapers123 View PostThe KTMs are locally manufactured, so the tank covers are dirt cheap,(At least in the case of Dukes, not sure of RCs), so even if you do mess it up, the damage won't be that bad.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Btw, these dots aren't for protection of tank. They are meant for grip in corner when you are hanging off the bike, or grip for taking riders weight on thighs instead of elbows and wrists when you stop the bike
And its not a diy per se, got the dots and stuck them. Had a few issues yesterday regarding alignment, but i had quite a few dots left with me, so its sorted now.Its to be done the same way on any bike.Motorcycling heals, big time...

But the review of stompgrips are far better than Keiti. Planning to get one in the near future.Originally posted by ynike99 View PostBtw, these dots aren't for protection of tank.
