Just went on a ride today with few friends who were on a car and a RE. None of them were very fast so i had to slow down and rode at around 60-70 most of the time in 6th and noticed that the indicated fuel consumption never went down below 47kmpl and at few points of time i was able to maintain 53kmpl for almost 20mins!! Now being enthusiasts, fuel economy is never something we focus upon but this was something that was totally unexpected and out of the blue!

I called up the showroom yesterday and he said everything is done and can take it tomorrow! My happiness knew no bounds! Then he sent me a picture of the bike on whatsapp, I knew i wouldn't sleep that night, How was i supposed to sleep when i knew she's waiting for me. Went to the showroom this morning and my god I was drooling all over. Did a PDI and found everything was good, checked the papers and there was no PUC, he said it isn't necessary for 1 year since it is a new bike, The bike had 40 Km on the ODO which i assume is due to PDI and stuff, so i took the delivery but i got no manual or service book ( he said service book will be available in 2 days and we don't give manuals as they are available on the internet) Can anyone confirm this?

Now the ride home,

I was scared at first as it was my first bike, but she is smooth as butter, My dad was the pillion, but i didnt feel uncomfortable at all, AT FIRST, then in bumper to bumper traffic my wrists were paining and the bike heated up, the fan kicked in 5-6 times during the 13 KM ride from the showroom to my home, The pain and the heat were bearable, the pain goes away as soon as i tighten my back and core, the heat is bearable too. The ride isnt as stiff as many say, goes over potholes quite comfortably, but the speedbreakers here are not half decent, scraped the underbelly twice. Easy to ride but turned off twice due to my fault, the brakes feel really good and provide awesome feedback, and changes in direction are received really well, They gave us 1 liter of petrol saying thats the usual what we provide and the nearest petrol pump is 2-3 km away but my dad said we'll fill it up near home, filled upto the brim and then took off. Reached home, clicked a few pictures and my parents had to pull me away from the bike haha, will post more as i ride.

PS: A total head turner, every signal people turn back to admire the view.

Btw I've had 2 services on my bike and it has run around 9000kms and the air filter wasnt changed in any of the services. Should that be a concern?

alright. Ishaan.humble im not super knowledgable or anything about mods none the less shall share my 2 cents.
to begin with real mods DOES not mean air filter also that is a preferable mod for carb bike where in you still got to rejet. moving on if you want to do major mods
1. get ecu remapped by kirrus they do it custom to your liking they actually listen to your feedback and make it for you that itself will be very good mod
2. malso if you want a more power ful kind of mod change your exhaust to good free flow moto torque is a good option and then remap (remapping then is based on your free flow system)
3. if you really wish to change your filter the market k & n filter are REALLY a replacement fiter to your old dirty one its not really a higher intake filter .
4. foam filter like BMC THAT TO CONICAL ONES are the right mod . conical because a better surface area means better intake. (in this case it becomes 3 dimensional i)
5. and last of all this bike is not really manual it has a brain (ecu) and it adjusts according to your inputs on things eg. you changing your air filter...so i insist you to not get an k & n instead get BMC conical and free flow and THEN ecu remap . i cangaruntee you will come out a happier (read throttle happy) rider.

none of these points are carved in stone and i might be wrong about a point or 2 do share your view ... .

later.

That was really informative! i will begin with the air filter, will definitely get an exhaust as soon as my financial conditions allow :P after that I'll get the remap.

Wondering which wax to buy, i want to keep her clean and shiny, I'm thinking formula 1 carnauba wax, I never did this before so some pointers will help & is it necessary to use a shampoo or is water enough to clean?

waxing and those shiners and all are not required man, just love her and maintain her.. she'll be fine with you.. those "looks" and cosmetics don't matter much.. be more vigilant during engine opening & servicing.. and always use quality parts and you are good to go..

FYI - it's IMPOSSIBLE to keep her clean and shining... believe me.. the bike WILL get dirty and it's meant to be looks like it..

get the proklear waterless wash concentrate Home - PROKLEAR™ Nano for everyday cleaning. it does a pretty good job at an economical cost. and follow the instructions on the bottle.
if the bike is too dirty, then first rinse it off with water before you proceed with the proklear.. for normal dust/everyday cleaning, a generous spray of proklear and a microfiber is sufficient.
invest in a good microfiber towel(s), something like the abro ct210 available on amazon. dont buy those cheap towels that are sold for like 3 for 100rs etc..
