Apart from that my cruising speed on a good highway will never exceed 105 110 kmph. Mostly I am a 90-100 kind of a guy.

120-130 i doubt.
yep a normally ridden 200 should return around 30kmpl in the city. and you are spot on about relaxed highway speeds.. it will happily do 90's all day with decent FE and enough power/speed left in case you need to whack open to overtake or move quicker.
our highways are best ridden at around the 100 mark max , especially on two wheelers. you never know what could pop up or dart across the road.

right, but the 390 has some different characteristics.. the 200 is more forgiving in the city.
if he can live with the lower FE and heat the 390 produces, then that would be a good choice if more speed is his requirement.

btw, why don't you look at the cbr 250 ? it's more refined than say the 200 and returns similar fe and can cruise at slightly higher speeds. It cost's a bit more, but i think would suit your requirement (unless you are bent on the ktm's for whatever reason)

The RC can do it ease with compared to its naked counterpart, but you shouldn't have any problems, word of caution, just try not to keep it on the hot all day.

And if you're planning to use these KTMs for city, rides, especially office commutes B2B traffic. Look elsewhere

I like CBR, but the only thing is its outdated styling! I test rode RC 200 and D390, coming from a P220 i did not find RC 200 that powerful. D390 on the other hand was something which I think I can go ahead with despite a lower FE.

Will TD RC 390 too since it wasn't available today, and will take a call after that. As of now, I think the 390 mill has been quite exciting!

Its massive in power and most importantly you need to tame the beast or man .....its a power blast.but if you can live with the Lower FE of 16-18 in Bangalore city and can withstand the heat from the radiator u can.personally 2 of my closest friend has rc and duke 390.rc I found extremely tough and tiring due to aggressive seating position and duke is comfortable.
But the heat just killed my leg, specially Bangalore b2b traffic.it was a terrible experience for me and I never rode the bike after that.if you hit the highways frequently then 390 is probably the best bike money can buy now.

you got other options.. Ninja 300 and the R3, they are pretty decent an dthe R3 I heard delivers 28 + on highway, so I'm expecting a worst of 22 on city.

you got the Mahindra Mojo, do try that out.. but I heard that the brakes suck. you got the upcoming RE Himalayan and the BMW-TVS 310...

my opinion - wait for some more time since you are going to drop quiet a ton of money on your new steed and choose wisely once the products are launched.. if you have friends, you can ask them/contacts at showroom for a test ride and then you can decide..

I was in the same delima when I picked the RC200.. I tried out the D200, I somehow wasn't comfortable.. then saw and sat on the 390, heart rang a bell saying "she is the one".. picked the RC 200.. no regrets.. well, in long rides & highways, you tend to get body pains, not as comfortable as the dukes, but I don't really care, I love her and she loves me back.. nobody is perfect..

live long.. live happy.. that's the best revenge that can be served to the people who hate you..

Thank you everyone for the support! The Stator Coil was replaced with no money spent. But I wonder was this intentionally done. My bike never gave a sign of issue until I changed the coolant reservoir tank (after a mail to Bajaj & KTM). The day when I took the delivery after changing the coolant reservoir tank, I heard the weird noise I have been saying couple of posts before and exactly after a week the low battery warning came up.

I took it to the SVC, the guy was inside. Went inside and told him the problem, he just said it's a stator coil issue, we will replace (without even seeing the bike). After replacing the stator coil I have observed for three days, the reported sound is not coming and the low battery issue is resolved. So the culprit is Stator Coil.

All is well now! Let things don't fall again and my ride become as good as it was. No more going to this SVC ever again, lessons learnt in a hard way!

I hope the stator coil was changed and not the STARTER coil or was it? If it was the former, kindly correct the information so that people don't get confused.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

I got my RC 200 a week back. After 2 days I started facing thud thud plastic sound near the chain. I have taken the bike to the SVC 3-4 times, they were able to reproduce it easily but not able to solve it. It's very irritating noise and it comes whenever I go over potholes or speed bumps. Its seems like the chain is hitting the chain guide.
SVC guys did tighten the chain but it didn't resolve the issue completely. Next day another service engineer said that the chain is too tight, so he loosened it and only made it worse.
They have told me to ride the bike for 2 more days and give feedback to them again. Has anyone faced this issue before? Also can this issue be resolved?

Thanks
Hey ayush,

Well, if you have any mods like I got, hazard light mod, I had it too, just placed the mod in a better way, it's fixed now..

If you are having a sound like "thak thak" increasing/decreasing with speed, it's chain, lube it ever 500 kms or when dry..

Local - difficult, eBay - you can try.. Quality - its a chance..

I didn't pick tank-cap cover (found it pointless)

I didn't even pick the tank pad (didn't find it worthy)

Picked the thigh pads (tank side pads) and its stompgrip from USA and its worth every penny.. I didn't see a single person selling them here..

Mud guard? Dukes have them and the radiator is still dirty..

ajay there are some shops selling stompgrips here, for instance the local shop here at kochi had them in transparent for i dont remember exactly but was around 3-4k i didnt want a transparent one so started searching for alternatives and found a couple of them on aliexpress and dhgate, for around 1k was nowhere near the quality. so dropped that plan and decided to get the stompgrips anyway, then i came across this Techspec Snakeskin stuff which had a pretty good reputation and luckily my friend who deals in such stuff was able to source it for me , though a tad expensive at 7.5k (its around 5-6 now but a bit smaller) nevertheless fully worth the amount.

Go with 200 only.
Riding 390 in Bangalore traffic will be pain simply for bike as well as for you.
If you can avoid traffic or limit driving in traffic say 4-5 kms then rc is fine.
FE around 20-24 on mixed usage.

It's nothing like that. Go with what ur heart desires. Both RC 200/390 are gud bikes! Just that RC 390 heats up a little bit in traffic. It's nothing actually. U'll feel it the first day. From second day onwards u'll forget about it. [emoji106]
