Has anyone toured on it yet? Does the visor help to cut down windblast?
Read a post on xBHP which said that AS 200 visor was just for show, 0 effectiveness...
Well, I did tour this weekend from Bangalore to Yelagiri. My experience might be partially helpful!

Onward journey had very minimal winds or it was mostly tail winds. The wind deflection by the visor was good or rather acceptable.

While returning the winds were either head on or crosswinds! and of cyclonic proportions! I mean really serious winds, the types that rake up dust storms! The wind deflection was ok, if you duck behind the visor it helps marginally as well.

BUT! while riding with strong crosswinds the bike lost its composure totally! Very unstable and it felt like the winds will sweep me off the road. At over 80kmph even making lane changes were making me jittery. However, its very rare that we face such strong gusts. Surprisingly the fellow rider on a D390 said he dint feel anything apart from his helmet moving around! Either he was lying or was too tired to realize. I have a doubt if they tested this fairing for its aerodynamics!

• Pulsar AS200

I'm gonna narrate this pleasant experience, I am going going to post the bike review also in another post.

First off, the service that i received from the Bajaj salesmen was nothing but pleasant. This was until i paid the full amount for the bike. After the payment the were nothing but a pain in the ass.

26/4 Sunday
I called Khivrav Bajaj on Kasturba Road to inquire about the AS200 and they said that I can come for a test ride and for the purchase. So I went there and there was nobody in the showroom and I had to call a attendant from the back of the showroom. So I asked for the test ride and i got a negative response. He said we don't give for test ride on a Sunday. Wow. After that I just wanted to make the payment it as needed a bike bad. So when I asked about the payment procedure he said that payment is not made on Sundays again Wow. This two were the exact things I asked for when I called like 1hour ago from visiting the showroom. By the way he said you can pay booking amount(he was not willing to take the full amount) so I paid 20000 and went off.

27/4 Monday
I paid the full amount and was promised to get the bike by Wednesday or Thursday.

29/4. Wednesday
I called up and he said that I will get the bike the next day that is Thursday.

30/4 Thursday
So I called up and he said if you can come today and sign some registration form I can give the bike to you by Saturday (Friday was MayDay). So I went there and the guy from whom I got everything done, was not there. Anyway l went to some other guy and he brought me a empty A4 sheet and asked me to sign on several locations. At that moment I enquired what was this about and they said this is the registration slip and we will print your registration details on this sheet so you wont need to come again. I was not willing to sign the papers and went off home. At this point I was pretty pissed off

2/5 Saturday
Again I called and again I got the same response if you come today I can give you the bike bu Monday. At that point I said you can either give me the bike today or you give me back my money, at that point he said alright you can get it. So I went there and got the bike.
When I asked about the delay he said the AS is new so the name is not updated with the RTO so it will take hardly 2-3more days so I will call you up by Tuesday. Obviously he didn't call me on Tuesday.
On that day I didnot receive the tool kit, medikit, booklet/manual or a keyring.

9/5 Saturday
On Saturday when I called and asked about what happened. He said we just got the approval yesterday you can come on Monday and get the registration done.

12/5 Tuesday 1:30 afternoon
I called and said that I am coming. He said there is no use in coming now because the RTO only works till 12:00.

13/5 Wednesday 11:20
I went there, they washed the bike and asked us to come at 3 afternoon. Again we were not notified about this. I didn't want to give the bike to anyone so I aid I will go with you to the RTO. He said ok but asked wait for about an hour. So we waited and finally at 1:20 a guy came and asked me to go to Jayanagar RTO. At that moment a guy came to me asking about the bike and how it was performing. I chatted with him for 20-30mins. And finally reached Jayanagar RTO at 2:10. I was concerned about that guy screwing me for being so late but as expected he hasn't reached there yet. After waiting for 5mins he came and got the registration done and he said that we will give you your vehicle number in 2-3 days.

20/5 Wednesday
I called the showroom and got the number and also said I'll be coming the next day to pickup the accessories.

21/5 Thursday
I called them to inform them again and went there. When i reached there they sent me off to the delivery section where I was supposed to get the accessories, but as usual they didnot fall short of disappointing me there too, they gave me a toolkit which was marked for Avenger 220 and said it is same for all bikes also they didn't have a AS200 manual, and asked me to wait me as it is new bike and they haven't received it yet.
(I crosschecked the toolkit and the toolkit that I got was common for all Pulsars, with that said it is utterly useless)

29/5 Friday
I finally went and got the manual and the entire transaction was finally complete.

There were a few question that we asked on the first day
What is the wattage of the low/high beam headlight?
What is maximum torque output?
Is the chassis is same for NS200 and AS200?
What is the capacity of the battery?
What is the wattage of the alternator?
They were not able to answer any of the question.
They didn't even know the bike was coming with two tyre options.

I overheard a guy saying:"Sir, RS has Anti Braking System"

Overall the experience was very bad.

• My New Travel Machine

I like to travel and especially on a motorcycle. At present, my rides are

2010 - Bajaj Discover 125

2013 - Yamaha R15 v2.0

2015 - Hero Impulse

2015 - Bajaj Pulsar AS 200

In this year 2015, I got two additional motorbikes lined up in my garage. I am not a bike collector and I can not be.

This new addition, Pulsar AS200 is going to be a big changeover of my biking experience in all the aspects. Expecting a great touring experience. I gonna do some long rides with AS very soon but after the run-in period.

Thanks to my fellow owners who are sharing your experiences now and then and it has become very easy to check the pros and cons easily. Let's Ride

What we ride is not important, How we ride is very important.

Few pics for now.

Your friend on the Duke 390 didn't feel anything? On a naked? Either it must be an Uber bike or your friend must be a godly rider!
anand.js How does the engine feel on speeds upwards of 100+ kmph? Can It cruise all day at 120-130?

True that !! I was riding on NH8 with strong crosswinds and the bike sort of lost its poise and felt really unstable.
On a different note, did you feel the engine overheating and all the heat deflecting on your legs to get them roasted nice and crisp ??

Luckily I got mine from the first batch with MRF Zappers, however on a mopped surface it is bound to slip. Having said that, the zappers did provide ample grip in a couple of instances of panic braking. You can change your tyres while they are new to get a decent value for them.
Happy riding !!

What do you think about this instability? Was it evident in the 200NS as well?
Poor tires maybe?

*Again today, I was out on the highway along with a ZMA-R and he felt similar disturbances, may be its quarter-fairing VS crosswinds issue.
*No heat felt as such, just the warm buzz. I am used to a lot more heat from my CBR so I might not be the best judge. But it felt under control for sure.

yea, the Duke 390 dint feel much disturbances while riding thro the crosswinds, may be because the fairing add more cross-section thereby adding resistance to perpendicular winds.

I haven't yet held 100kmph + speeds for long to comment on that. Still under 2K kms, that said I did do a short burst to about 110ish. The RPMs are gonna be high at 120+ not sure if you can cruise at 120+. I would assume around 110 is a good speed to cruise at.

w.r.t to seating comfort, its good and can match or better the Dazzler. This is a heavier bike but you wont really feel it. Handling in city conditions is spot on too, except that U-turns are a bit cumbersome due to its SUV-ish turn radius. But not a big issue. Pillion will be pretty ok as well, riding 2 up is normal too.

When it comes to engine performance in the city, the Low end torque might not be as good as what you experienced with the Honda 150 engine family. You will need to frequently shift up and down, which might be a lil irritating, again not a show stopper. That is compromised with the good mid-range and a decent top end. Also, dont expect the motor to 'purr' along like the Hondas. This one is a bit impatient and will sound that way as well, that's its nature.

1. Covered around 350 kms in 10 days.
2. About 7000 rpm in 6th gear took me to 85 kmph
3. Yes, once back tire and once front tire skid in panic braking on dry road
4. Felt not so confident on corners, I have never done cornering in my life before. But these tires are definitely scary. Have got eurogrip in mine.
5. I don't feel any vibes but do hear some fairing noise in high rpm in 3rd and 4th gear
6. Low beam good but very short so have to use high beam while riding faster. High beam is fantastic but have to worry about blinding oncoming traffic
7. Yes there is false neutral from 1-2 but never from 2-1
8. I ride in coimbatore and wind is heavy. When compared to FZ-S wind shield definitely helps to cruise in 75 kmph longer.
9. Again compared to FZ-S suspension is really good. Have been riding through sand road daily to office without any stress on my back.
10. Rider seat absorbs most bad roads.
11. Without realizing the risk of the eurogrip tires ridden faster 75 kmph in rainy roads!!!Click image for larger version

How about the NVH levels? Are they controlled, in-line with the Duke/CBR or much harsher?
Also, is the AS 200 readily available with dealers? Is their any waiting period for delivery?

The Red looks really enticing! Are all bikes coming out with Eurogrips only?

Happy to help

NVH - Engine is a bit harsh now, but I am still under 2K kms and on Bajaj Oil. I can see its getting better as I add on more kilometers. Once I am able to switch to some good semi synth oil Things should really look good. As of now, its pretty Ok.

I got my bike in 5 days, but that really is a dealer thing, you would need to check in your area.

Yes, the red is read good, even the black looks nice and sophisticated. Only complaint I have here is they really should have had at least some small differentiation b/w the 150/200.

Congrats on the new bike.

Yup, I have found the Gear and the Brake lever to be a bit high. One svc center said they could adjust and one said it cant be. I am trying to get it done myself, havent got time to check it out though.

Yeah, both the 150 and 200 are almost similar, sans the engine and tyres... They could have mixed up the paint scheme atleast....like the Duke siblings.

Are the Eurogrips a deal breaker? I heard they are terrible!
Should I upgrade to better rubber on purchase? What do you guys suggest?

One question folks: Is the AS200 available only with Euroslips (I mean Eurogrips )? I remember the dealer telling me at the time of launch that there will be two options available here. And what about the younger sibling AS150?
