But its a sleeping beast which might take you off-gaurd anytime if you cant tame it.

You mean they are detuning by reducing the bhp?

Hey guys I'm really a big fan of benelli tnt 600i, I have been following this forum from quite a long time, and also I have almost seen and read all the reviews on this superb bike, thanks to you guys all my confusions have gone and got to know a lot about the bike, and also have decided to go for it, but lastly there is a small question in my mind, hope you guys can help me out!
The bike is no doubt a sheer beast, but does it give you confident breaking without ABS, Seriously I have ridden the duke 390 and ABS can be felt in it, without ABS I can't ride it with confidence, specially in India u don't know what will come next while riding, sudden brakes are applied in certain situations, and having a beast like this I don't know if I could ride if confidently in pune
So guys please let me know that you need the urge of having an ABS on the bike or it has enough breaking efficiency to stop on time with control! Thank you

Hi Sanket, I have a friend and a rider with me who has upgraded to IXIL. Here are the points I heard from him

                      +ve
Sounds so bloody good, this is the primary factor one upgrades.
I think I also remember he mentioned about his feel that the power increased slightly. (I might be wrong though)

                      -ve
It heats up and its my opinion that if you are riding with a pillion most of the time, this might not be practical.
The mileage reduces considerably if you have it in the free flow configuration. I remember my friend quoting 8 or 9kms/ltr where as I get close to 15 - 16 in the city with peak traffic and approx 19 or 20 on the highway.

                      cheers,
                      Aravind

When i visited the Benelli showroom, they had the red bike wtih IXIL exhaust without the db scilencers/ baffles. . As soon as the bike was turned on, you could smell the fuel burning in the whole showroom. It runs EXTREMELY RICH with the IXIL and becomes a gas guzzler.

                        but the sound . . . . . *Cringes*
Being on two wheels is being liberated. The vastness one feels being under the open sky. The whole feeling. . . cant be described.

                          WHAT !! 8-9kmpl !!?? Thats too poor.
I think the sound is the only and only selling factor of IXIL, I think I'll just rather drop the plan.

I doubt loud exhaust is a good way for anyone looking to do anything more than short sunday morning breakfast rides.
Yes they sound awesome and the feeling in the first few weeks is amazing but slowly the lack of practicality of these, for longer rides, eats into the happiness till all that is left is hatred for these.

I have seen quite a few give up on their super loudies after a few months of touring on them as longer journeys got more tiresome and the once eargasm now just irritated them to death. For people who are not planning on riding long distance, this is a great thing to show off the machine you got though.

Also, it should run richer or leaner only when the ECU is remapped. Right ? Or please correct me how these things work ?

TO my understanding a reduced back pressure on the engine by removal of stock exhaust and or catalytic convertor results in more exhaustion of air from the system. Due to this there is less waste gas left in the combustion chamber, this , being detected by the O2 sensors, makes ECU to increase fuel+ air inflow into the cylinder. Thus More fuel consumption..

On the stock exhaust = more waste gas recirculated within the system due to back pressure = lesser fuel+air injection = lesser consumption.

The ECU has a threshold of Air+Fuel mixture which gets injected. A re-map is generally required to compensate for this back pressure decrease.

the IXIL removes the Catalytic convertor [if there is one] + Exhaust and replaces it with a simple 'Y' Pipe

See the silver part joining the exhausts.

Correct me if I am wrong , please.
