re: Benelli TNT 600i - Owners' Reviews & Experiences
Sunday morning ..Unusally that day I got up at 6am. Thanks to the Water lorry's sweet honking music competition. Who sounds more loud.
Asked my mom if I could got out for a 'short' spin with my bike. Spin in her terms means - Wasting time and money as I am going on a ride with no purpose at all with no end results in that Job.
Hearing that on a Sunday morning is a blessing in disguise to frown and run away from home. Took for 80 kms round trip on the GST road (One of the best in Chennai, connecting the southern part of Tamilnadu). A good 2 lane with bustling trucks and speeding cars. Time to take to the rev-limit (technically in run-in limiter).
The bike is stable as a pillar at high speed (I did ~ 135 kmph at 6k rpm, 6 gear for a good 2 minutes, ran out of road to keep pushing it further and traffic was getting heavier. Didnt want to do anything stupid). Temperature at was 88c and didnt feel a tinge of heat in my tighs while driving. The windblast was a little annoying. But thats fine, I aint going to do those speeds inside city daily. Now able to drive the vehicle with little more ease and understanding it better.
Avg km/l - 23.5
Stops - 1 (for breakfast @A2B)
Damn the mobile...Couldnt click more as Battery wasnt charged over-night, as it was an unplanned trip totally.Last edited by TheArcher84; 08-24-2015, 03:31 PM.R15S - Current

Any 1 done with the 2nd service?? Hows does riding in traffic feel? Does the long turning radius effect? Or is just the matter of getting used to?

re: Benelli TNT 600i - Owners' Reviews & Experiences
I am yet to make it to the first service yet. But, the turn radius is P.I.A. I am finding it little difficult to take U-turns after I exit office and to take the main road. I travel like an additional 100m to find a wider road so that I dont have to apply brake in the middle and adjust myself and end up loosing my balance. Riding in traffic or getting stuck behind a car in a traffic jam , I see temp soaring upto 103c. I couldnt sit. I pushed my bike to the side, switched off the engine for 10 mins. Let it cool and started to move again, Temp was back to 91c.Originally posted by padfootmoony2006 View PostAny 1 done with the 2nd service?? Hows does riding in traffic feel? Are you saying that in bumper to bumper traffic, riding is difficult due to heat ?Originally posted by TheArcher84 View PostRiding in traffic or getting stuck behind a car in a traffic jam , I see temp soaring upto 103c. I couldnt sit. I pushed my bike to the side,

Do I need to stop it, cool it and ride it again
. I am scared as already have booked the bike and will be taking the delivery this week

Bro !! Come on.. Seriously you stop bike , wait for ten minutes and then continue ?Originally posted by TheArcher84 View PostRiding in traffic or getting stuck behind a car in a traffic jam , I see temp soaring upto 103c. Doesn't the fan kick in above 100 ? Fan will cool the engine. And 103 is absolutely normal I believe. Check your manual for critical temperature.
Mine touches 103 sometimes and once the fan kicks it comes back to 99-100. But yeah, fan running all the time is a bit of extra load on battery.

Re: Benelli TNT 600i - Onwers' Reviews & Experiences
That was the only time I did that. 2 reasons. First, My left palm was paining extremely as the clutch was quite hard. I was not used to that kind of hard clutch. Second, I was riding with my formal pants on. No jeans or riding pants. Hence had to take some rest and proceed. Now, with the gloves, clutch shift is much easier and Jeans is doing the trick for me inside city or highways.Originally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostBro !! Come on.. Nah, that was someting new to me. I was not used to that kind of heat before. Hence as caution and not to get my thighs cooked, I had to stop. But I am getting comfortable now riding in B2B traffic with a good pair of Jeans. I aint feeling the heat like before,.Originally posted by jamesrocky View PostAre you saying that in bumper to bumper traffic, riding is difficult due to heat ?

re: Benelli TNT 600i - Owners' Reviews & Experiences
DO NOT WORRY ABOUT GARAM BIKE !!
its absolutely normal, I have seen 106 and 108 too in heavy traffic, but as soon as you find a stretch, just vrooooom it and you'll see the heat goes down considerably.
Coming from duke background, the heat is literally negligible most of the time. Only if you are really stuck in bad bad traffic, which can happen even with a R15.
I have seen 120 temp also when my radiator fan malfunctioned, and coolent came out from drain pipe. so the bike can easily take upto 116-118 degree in worst cases, after that you must turn it off. Untill then its all fine.
The turning radius is big, agreed. Apart from a situation where you really need to take a really sharp u turn, its highly advisable to get both feet on ground and take the turn carefully, might even just stop and pull the bike back a bit and then proceed. Otherwise, a quick solution always is while taking a turn, be extra smooth with the throttle, NEVER EVER CUT THE THROTTLE, and if in case you feel that the bike might fall, just blip the throttle and it'll stand up again on its own. This gives a lot of confidence and with good practice you can really take sharp U-turns (ofcourse nothing smaller than the bike radius but still) and you can also learn to lean the bike more while being smooth on the throttle, that helps in reducing the radius even a bit futher and take fast turns. Also, Always AVOID USING FRONT BRAKES WHILE U TURN, I have practiced this a lot and noticed this over years that the bike is always much much stable and easy to handle if you use rear brake in case of U Turns and bumper to bumper traffic areas. Front causes all the disbalance issues and you loose confidence. Try using the rear brake always while in traffic on low speeds, you'll be shocked to notice how stable and controlled the bike feels while doing so.
