  • tank capacity .????

My bike completed 1185km,finished first service exactly on 1000km,twice filled the tank and confused about the capacity, after reserve i filled it consumes 15ltr that too the fuel pump men stoped the pump after seeing bubbling and i thougt its full. After runing 175km city Plus highway(normal speed 45 to 70kmph) when i went for second fill to check mileage as well as to know exact tank capacity,it consumes 6ltr that too the level comes up going down up going down from 4th litre it happens finally consume 6ltr , means 175/6 = 29.1kmpl,somebody in the thread wrote GSR consume 19ltr petrol for full tank.......
I check my tyre pressure it's ok ,but when i check reserve to reserve it gives me 50kmpl....So whats the real tank capacity of GSR

i am gettin 50-52 kmpl mileage too but am not sure of the tank capacity.. i was told by dealer that its capacity is 18+ litres but they say it as 15.5 litres.. the reason he told was, if you will fill the tank to its maximum capacity it may spill/leak while riding and may cause danger..
anyways, i dint care much abt the tank capacity as 15-16 litre tank is too much for a bike.. and that too which gives a mileage of 50+

Thanks I also read some other thread (help me) how to calculate mileage for karizma here one reply

Resrve to Reserve is the most accurate in my view. Reset your trip to 0 when the bike comes to reserve. Fill about 10 liters of petrol>Run the bike till it comes back to Reserve again>See the trip reading>Divide by 10 (amt of petrol filled.
This method done about 3-4 times should give a fairly accurate FE of your bike.

The disadvantage with Full to Full tank is that you might fill 16 liters once and next time only 15, both look like full tank and can give errors in the FE.

i was thinking the same.. where is everybody???

2350+ kms on ODO.. getting an avg mileage around 50-52.. i had a rough/stressed engine problem for almost last 1000 kms, which seems to be disappeared now.. either the engine parts are adjusted now or watever, but the bike is very smooth now..
got shell petrol filled this weekend.. bike is running as if it has got a magical touch.. its butter smooth... dint feel to get down of the bike, wanted to keep moving..

                        • Well, Well, good to see many GS owners pouring in...

BTW I have clocked around 400 KMs only till now. I just cant wait for my first service which is due on June 13th. There are a quite a number of things to look into.
*The rear brake is not upto the mark needs to be adjusted. Front disc is doing well.
*The engine off switch near the accelerator has some loose connection.
*The accelerator wire and the disc brake fluid pipe which is attadched seems to be loose. I mean it just moves freely if you mend it with hand. I just dont know if this is a problem or its just like that.

Otherwise the bike performs well. Some time I do get the engine Jerk which I had mentioned earlier. Probably after first service things should do fine.

Most of my friends said that the bike looks too good. I did not expect that when I first saw the bike's pic in Overdrive last November. This makes me even more excited.

u will need to get the rear brake adjusted.. pple are telling me that the front disc is not upto the mark in my bike and it doesnt stop dead in an instant but i am quite happy with it.. it stops wen i need it to stop.. thats all i want.. i am not gonna race..
even i found the engine on/off switch had some problem.. at a traffic signal, wen i stop the bike by switchin off the button, sometimes it wont start after switchin it on.. wen i will reset the button it will start.. gotta talk abt it in the second service which is coming closer..
regarding the accelarator wire, i need to check.

                            • Strange scenario

Morning (7.45....when i start to office) - kick start the bike.... Idle the bike for a minute... Maintain 4k rpm for 2-4Km.... Then step into action... Gear shifts are smooth... Bike easily touches 80kmph... engine is relaxed... no trouble at all... I enjoy the cruising at 6th gear with this bike... its awesome man

Evening (7.00....when i start from office) - self start.... Idle the bike for a minute...Maintain 4k rpm for 2-4Km.... Then when i try to step into action everything is out of action....Gear shifts a bit harder... engine seems to be strained.... Bike finds difficult to cross 5k rpm...

Why this is happening? need experts here

                              • 4k kms on the odo.Got my second service done at 3k. After the second service, engine is smoother & gear shift is also smoother.Got the clutch cable adjusted to my needs & got the chain tightened a little bit.
Good news is I also got my tank replaced & everything is fine now.

Planning to change the rear tyre before monsoon hits as the Zapper Y has poor grip on wet roads.Did anybody notice this especially the Bangalore folks since its raining out there.
