Though GS150R's engine felt smooth initially, spending time with Unicorn made me realize that Honda was still the smoothest package of the lot. The GS150R further disappointed me when I could distinctively hear the sound of valve clutter and a slight knocking from the engine. These sounds get amplified in higher revs and vibes kick in after the 7,000 rmp mark. However they are lesser than one would experience on a similar capacity Pulsar.
I won't believe this, unless some owner proves it, not any (biased) review.. I didn't experience this on my test ride.
Oh man complete bullshit, who has written this, ...."hear the sound of valve clutter"...give me a break.....and knocking.....u gotta be kidding me.....man these statements sre nothing but a complete misslead......ask any one who owns this bike or has taken a good test ride....gordon is one of them vouching......seriously plz..... total crap....man total crap....

2 hrs after gettin it delivered it jus stopped in between wit sounds as if its comin in reserve.. put it in reserve n then i tried startin it(kick/self), but nothin hapnd.. tried choke, still nothin hapnd..
pushed it for 2 kms to drop at my frens place.. mornin the szuzuki pple sent their mechanic who started it in few mins, sayin the air bubbles were troublin.. i thot mayb now its done..
went to office.. while startin frm office at nit, it again stopped in betwen.. the same thing.. it jus wont start.. did everythin i could.. n then i put on the choke, waited fr 5 mins.. started.. it worked..
mornin the mechanic told me- if the same thing hapens, remove the petrol tube for some tim and put it back, to remove air bubbles.. bt as its my first exp wit my own bike i dint dare to do tht..
jus want to kno whether its normal for a new vehicle to screw its owner this way???? some remedy?? some experiences?

@nawab - i liked black more.. nywys i had red shoes, so thot the orange color of bik wont go wit them :P
@alkemyst....What are you talking about man.......take it back to the showrooma dn demand an immimdiate investigation, infact you should have demanded an another piece....after all it was just 2 hrs man.......airbubbles?????what the heck even if there is a such a problem I still would not content myself with just a mechanic coming and setting things right......go back to the showroom and demand a replacement or a complete investigation and sooner the better....

cool that you dont have kick problem...I think then it should be just a tuning problem, will try to get this fixed tomorrow....and yes I use choke while doing a cold start, till now it never has been a one kick start......

excess air pressure?? where ...?? and earlier it was a bubble problem......anyway is it rectified now.....if it happenes again try to escalate at a higher level....(believe it or not most of the time it works..)

I dont think its an "issue" the engine sound does change as it warms up when we increase speed. I think its perfectly normal............BTW congratts on your new bike.........care to share some snaps.....

and rest of the people as well why are we not seeing any snaps for all the GSRs on this thread

          • I'm one of the proud owner of this bike in Bhubaneswar. When i visited to purchase this bike, at first glance toe shifter looks to high for shifting gear, but it's fine. They didn't give test ride because the odometer is directly connected to engine and can't be reset. At first, while riding the bike handlebar feels too high like you are sitting on chopper bike. It felt little uncomfortable at starting but it is boon of the bike. Bike is heavy in comparison of all other bike in 150CC category but high handlebar helps turning comfortablly.I was riding first 10 days in economy mode thinking that eco and pwr mode are just light blinking thing but yesterday I changed into Power mode and bike reaction is totally changed the pick up,gear shifting all has been changed. The 'Drive me crazy' quatation is accomplished.

              The article misleads many buyers.

              • hi guys.. wen i used to read "butter smooth" term in reviews of the bikes, i could not imagine it.. but now i m feelin it practically... finished 200km today and it feels lik heaven when u r on the road wit it.. as ther r not many GS on the roads(bangalore) m enjoyin the attention too..
jus felt a little hitch.. m findin the toe shifter a little higher than wher it should be... can any other GS rider confirm it? also, if this is the thing, is it adjustable??
was runnin in ECO mode initially but the blinker irritated me, so now runnin in 3rd mode which has NO NAME
I like to meditate a lot.. On my BIKE!

                • The shifter is adjustable.. takes about 2 mins... tell your service mechanic next time you visit them or get it changed at your nearest round the corner mechanic..

Congrats on your new purchase.. Which color is it? Expect a little bit less mileage compared to other owners till the first service. Do properly run-in your bike according to the manual. It'd be great if you post some pictures of your bike.

hmm... GREAT (at last). My bike is 45 days old and am still enjoying the kind of attention that it's giving. I'm really got used to staring looks of other people on road . Foot pegs of XTreme, Hunk, GS150R and Apache have a slightly "pulled back" (some people call it sporty) position for foot pegs. All the others have a toe-only shifter and in GS150R the heel portion is lifted slightly for comfort (had it been in the same way like Unicorn or pulsar your ankles would ache). Don't worry... You'll get used to it within no time. The 3rd mode is called "Know it all" or something (don't remember the exact name.. it's in the manual). And yes, the rpm indicator light is really annoying especially in the night (at least in the run-in period it is helpful).

actually tht ECO mode blinker made me look at the dial again n again.. n created a near accident situation for me... twice.. so switched to I KNO IT ALL mode.. n i feel its better to feel wat the bik needs instead for the indicator to blink
n regarding the toe shifter, i m usin it.. but i don think i ll get used to it.. its a lil painful for me.. plannin to get it adjusted..

Ok first and formost, the toe shifter can be so very easily adjusted, I am not sure about other bikes but this one has a very nifty and neat adjustment mech...... very much like you adjust the brake light, a centrally located nut is present which is held in position by another nut, just below the gear shifter, u just loose the other nut and simply using your own hands rotate the centrally located nut, which in turn would adjust the height of the gear shifter in either direction you want........very handy and thoughtfully placed adjustment.

Handle bars can also be adjusted, even I felt the bars a bit too high at first so I requested the service man to lower it a bit during the first service, which he did and its perfect for my comfort now......

finally congratts on your purchase.....another GSR owner....how many are there now in total on xbhp anyway.... ????

I bet there is difference between eco and pwr mode. It's connected with the engine.Switch eco mode for few days and then switch back to pwr. The pickup thing really differs.

Thanks for DIY tutorial I understand these things are adjustable and I'm gonna try it. Firstly, I used to shift gear from front pedal(not using rear one) only but if you are office worker you understand how much important is rear one and I'm happy with toe shifter thing.

Is lowering handlebar makes difference in handling because I really just love handling of this bike but I wish if handlebar is little low.
