Good to hear your baby is back. Hope she will keep you happy as she did before this incident. For now that matters.

Well said experimental head. I dunno about others but all of it comes down to reliability.. Even if 2 3 bikes of a lot are facing such issues its a big deal. People are paying big bucks for these machines and they should receive similar services none the less.. The problem with Indian mindset is that nobody cares unless they themselves face the same situation.. I can hardly imagine my situation if I am stuck on the taj expressway going back home in the middle of the night. It would be a nightmare.. I could leave my r15 there and come back to maybe find it in one piece.. but a benelli. Nooo way..

Also please do tell about the chat with the benelli representatives
Also what if you don't sign the service satisfaction form.. In case you know you are pissed at them.. They cannot refuse you from taking the bike which belongs to you..

Devang already has a group for SBKs but it is not limited only to Benelli. Try to speak to Devang/Mark regarding the whatsapp group. I used to follow up for sometime & also gave an example of Bangalore group but not sure if he has created a whatsapp group or not. Check with Mark as well. I feel it's better to have a single group rather than individual. We can be in touch anyway. PM me your number or else I'll PM you my number.

Had a good ride today that was arranged by DSK Benelli from Hyderabad.

Five of us (2 owners riding a 300 and 600 GT and 3 showroom staff riding 600i, 600 GT and 300 respectively) started off from the showroom at 6:00 AM. Please ignore the humble boxer from the lot as it didn't come along with us

Drove straight up to the racing track at Leonia resort where we met fellow riders who were having quite a bit of fun on their Dukes, Ninjas and even a CD100 Yes! You heard it right, a CD 100, and the best part of today's visit was that a good looking gal was competing with the boys. Anyways, with my bike still running in, it was hard to keep up with the others while reaching the track but the bike felt stable although a bit too light for my liking at 100-110 kmph. Also, on our way to the track, we passed by a cool group of Harley owners (I guess as my entire focus was to keep up with the others in front). Seems like motorcycling in Hyderabad is not as dull as I thought.

The general manager from the showroom had a good blast on the 300 and 600 before jumping on other bikes from his friends at the track. He was a semi professional racer and seemed to have had a good amount of track experience. I didn't want to risk my day as I forgot my knee guards and my bike hasn't completed the run in yet.

So, me and the other guy owning a 600 GT decided to head out on a decent drive on one of the best looking and best laid highways around Hyderabad, Hyderabad-Karimnagar highway. It was scenic and perfect with hardly any traffic and we had good fun. The other guy on the 600GT was actually nice to occasionally wait for me as the max I could hit was 120 kmph at 8000 rpm and I'm still short of 300 kms from 1600 kms when I could open the throttle till 11000 rpm. However, he seemed to have had moments when he was probably hitting 180-200 kmph on the GT and watching it go was simply amazing. He had great reviews about the bike and he is whom I would probably call a 'professional tourer' as he had done a 65 day trip covering potentially the entire border of India from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. Here are some pics from the highway ride.

Once we decided to head back, he was nowhere in sight as expected and I cruised around 110-120 kmph for a short while before hitting the city traffic. All in all a great day where I clocked ~160 kms on the Italian beauty, had my 1st visit to a race track and chugged along a lovely highway with a fellow Benellian. Looking for more fun soon.

experimentalhead....glad to know that you got your bike back....regarding the bulb you mentioned, did they replace it with another stock bulb again, which brand are they using, did you ask them if you could replace it with a better one, say Phillips Crystal/Diamond/Extreme vision ones?...as I have been using the Diamond Vision on my CBR since the start, which emits white light and the bulb is in blue color which makes the dome look blue...no issues so far...you could try if its fine with the service people

They also wanted to take a signature on satisfaction letter stating that I am pleased with prompt action taken by DSK services. Let me tell you these are all well documented by brands just in case...hope yu get the point. I signed the letter only after mentioning where they need to improve like poor RSA and poor spares availability and mentioned that if I have to rate them on ascale of 1 to 10, 1 being lowest and 10 being highest, I will mark them 6 only because of efforts of Service manager Sunil, which means I am not pleased with the way DSK responded.

First, let me clarify:

1. I am on this forum as I love the passion and attitude of the people who are running this. Of course, also there are many who add a lot of value to this forum with the wealth of their long accumulated experience, which makes people come here seeking information which emanates from their fountain of knowledge.

Last but not least, someone mentioned that they spoke to so and so from Benelli, now please tell me which brand will talk about niggles or these kind of issues with a prospective buyer. I was also told lot of good things at the time of buying and I am just asking them to keep their promises.
experimentalhead, do you think that the reasoning they gave justifies the incident? Its pretty unusual and unlikely to have a fuse blown off with a defective bulb. However, I think I will get my bikes bulb checked or replaced with philips diamond vision if the reason is justified. The philips diamond vision is doing duty on my Brio for 3 years without any problems. Do keep us posted about updates about your ride.

My technical knowledge w.r.t bikes is amateur at best. I am still learning about bikes.

As I was told by service folks:

Issue: Fuse blown. Spare fuse also blown.

Reason, as per service center: Low beam bulb heated up and melted which lead to shoring for wires blowing the fuses eventually.

As per satisfaction letter:

Complaint: Fuse blown off unable to start the vehicle. No display in speedometer.

Action taken: Replaced with new fuse and Head light assy. with bulbs.

Entire headlamp assembly was replaced along with fuses. Service manager informed that he replaced with same H7 bulbs which were their earlier. I would check on which brand during my next visit.

Some more info which could be useful and may be fodder for some useful discussion by bike geeks:

1. There are four fuses. Three are of 15amp and one of 10amp.
2. There are three spare fuses. Two of 15amp and one of 10 amp.
3. The one which was blown was of 10amp. We replaced it with spare 10amp which blew too.
4. My friend suggested that we can put spare 15amp and try. He is an electrical engineer and his brother who he spoke to is also a geek with good knowledge of bikes.
But I said 'NO' as I was not sure about whether it is right plus my logic was if 15amp could do the job, then why use a 10amp. I did not want to take chance with that.
You guys could shed some light on this as this would be of great use in case of any future issues. My friend when I met him yesterday still maintained that we could have
put 15amp, ensured that no light was turned on and could have ridden. Not sure whether that's right.

Well, I got a call from DSK-Benelli this evening following my satisfaction letter comments and it was a positive discussion. More on that during my next post as I need to rush for dinner before my wife breaks this computer.

Never use a higher rating. If it's 10 Amps, its meant to blow at that rating. Using a 15Amps will only cause more damage to the wiring and harness. You were right to say no.

Agreed !! Never put higher rated fuse. It will just delay in blowing your fuse when some short circuit happens. During this delay your writing harness could turn into ashes.
