Finally!!
After all the hassle caused by RTO registration documentation, the bike was delivered late Monday evening.
A few pictures:
I'll post some more later.
I haven't had a lot of time to ride it yet - I've only done about 60 km so far, but I was able to take it for a decent 40-odd km spin yesterday.
First impressions:
I. The Good:
- Engine: I can't exactly describe the feeling of... elation while riding it for the first time. The engine was so smooth, it felt like I was gliding through the streets.
- Ride Quality: I found the seat to be much more comfortable than my old FZ-S. The bike eats up speed-breakers and potholes for breakfast - I could hardly feel a bump. So far, I'm very happy with the ride quality.
- Weight: I was very worried about the weight, it's about 55 kgs heavier than my FZ-S. But I can barely feel the weight while in motion.
- Sound: I'm not someone who goes ga-ga over a bike's exhaust note, in fact I prefer quieter machines. Having said that, the roar the bike emits when turned on never fails to bring a large grin to my face.
Music indeed.
II. The Bad:
- Front Brakes: There's just no bite to them. I'm not sure if this is deliberate and they need time to bed in, or they aren't set up properly. The rear brake has no such problem. Heading to Benelli on the weekend to sort this out.
- Gearbox: Shifting through gears is sometimes very hard and not smooth at all. Sometimes there is a very loud noise as the gear shifts into place.
- Key: I wish they'd provide more than just one flip-key. I'm in two minds whether to keep using the fancy key (and risk losing it) or just use the regular keys.
Would appreciate some feedback over points 1 & 2.
III. Misc:
- Paint on Tank: There's a raised blob on the tank, about 4 inches below the fuel cap. It's barely visible even under direct sunlight. The guys at Benelli have told me that they will replace the entire tank at the first service. Waiting to get a written confirmation on this, as it's preventing me from applying the 3M PPF.
- Weight: While I can't feel the weight while riding, it is extremely evident while at a stop. I've almost lost balance a couple of times after bringing it to a stop at a traffic signal. This is more my problem than the bike's, will have to adjust or bulk up a bit.

- Mirrors: The mirrors positioning is not the same. The left mirror is attached to the handle bar, whereas the right mirror is attached to the brake fluid reservoir. I'm sure I'll get used to this, but it just feels wrong somehow.
Can't wait to get the number plate, don't want to risk riding a temporarily registered bike over long distances.
