Ambur was chosen because it's location is between Chennai (for you guys) and Bangalore (for us) [emoji4]

I'm sorry, but what affidavit ? Is it something specific to Chennai/TN ?

"An Affidavit is a declaration of certain facts made in writing by a person. It can be a statement or a declaration on oath.
Affidavit for address proof need to mention current & permanent address and area police station, area post office, ward, circle, district within which the concerned house address belongs."

This is written in a stamp paper and signed by the officer and self.

          I need a clarification.

Has anyone got their vehicle registration done by submitting an affidavit ?

The showroom guys called me today and told them that the affidavit that I have produced to them is not valid. Though I had issued it through a public notary agent. The reason they are saying now is that, an RTO officer has to sign it in advance. (Sounds like B.S to me)

I have posted a link below that shows the documents that are accepted.

Now my bike's delivery is on hold because of this reason. Is it true that a RTO office has to sign it ? I have never heard something like this before. It would be great if someone can help me out.

          State Transport Authority
Sorry to hear about the delay.

Is there a list of required documentation on the TN RTO website? You could then use it as proof that there is no need for the RTO officer to sign it to make it valid.

But similar stories like these - about required documentation for registration that is not listed on the RTO website - are popping up more often.

Hope you are able to get this sorted quickly. Sometimes, the best method - as bad as it sounds - is to just comply and get it done.

            As said in previous pages.

"In city with Bangalore's crazy peak hour traffic, I got 23 - 24 kpl. On highways by keeping a sane cruising speed between 90-110 kph, I got 29-30 kpl."

I don't have an address proof as I just moved into a new place. This is why they have asked me for an affidavit.

Ah !! Then best bet would be to get rental agreement done & get it notarized. Cheaper n better solution. Notarized rental agreement is a valid document.

I don't think it's required. Usually showroom guys will take care of it they will charge 200-300 for affidavit.

Affidavit is required for address proof, when a person don't have any govt issued address proof ( voters card, ration card, electricity/water bill in his name etc) he can submit affidavit as address proof. This is standard across the country not specific to a state.

I bought my dio in chennai and I didn't have an address proof then. Because there were no phone bills or anything wrt that address I was living in. The showroom guys asked me for a affidavit or bona-fide from my work place to register it under my name. It costed me 1200Rs.

They are charging 1.5k for it. I had got it done outside from a public notary agent which is the same they will generate. Now they are telling me that a RTO officer's sign has to be there. I have never heard of it and confirmed the same from my friends.

See thats exactly what I am talking about. You get an affidavit and its gonna be fine no matter from where you get it. BTW do you remember ? Did it have any RTO officer's sign on it ?

That's right, the Bangalore Sales guys took some 500 bucks extra to sort this out for me. I don't think you need the affidavit and stuff. check with the dealers. Ask them for an alternative. For all you know RTO contact of theirs might be stalling it for some moolah.
