Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
That's what I had in my mind too, 6K per 4kms. I'm not considering 4 months as most of us complete it in shorter time.Originally posted by brokenbinil View Post- Engine Oil - Rs. 2475/- for 3 Liters
- Oil Filter - Rs. 312/-
- Air Filter - Rs. 476/-
- Consumable - Rs. 570/-
- General Service Charge - Rs 2394/- (new rates effective Jan 2016 - has been increased from 1500 to 2100 pre tax)
all amounts inclusive taxes.
Total Amount : - Rs 6227/-
I paid Rs. 1000/- less as they had wrongly charged me the 600i service charge during my second service.
One thing is for certain. I am not servicing at SVC post my warranty period.
Reasons : I have no concerns over the workmanship. So far I have had a good experience.
However my concerns are :
- Enforcing change of engine oil every 4000kms. - Used oil had good texture while being drained out. Same oil is used for 12K kms (got this confirmed from n300 user). This in turn is waste of money and oil. work around - Move to a cheaper oil which is good for 4000kms and get service done till warranty gets over.
- High Service Charge - Rs. 2394/- per service. would equate to over Rs. 24000/- (including engine oil) for me in 12 months. It's six months and I have already done my 3rd service. Average 6K per service. My VW Polo has a service interval of 15K kms and costs around Rs. 15000/- including engine oil.
Please note that in the above scenario the issue is only stupid policies and high costs stated by DSK. Else if you are maintaining your bike on your own, service costs will be way way less.
So those who have taken out loan, have to keep aside ~7+K every month.
I'm not riding it in city except for SVC trips & for G2G of Benelli groups as the cost of service is high & interval is less, also if anything goes wrong the availability of spare parts in Mumbai is a major concern though parts are available in Pune.
Regarding the wearing out of the chain, the chain on my motorcycle may have wore out due to subsequent bearing failures, I've chain oiler installed so it never runs dry.
The other person I know was working at SVC but still is facing the same issue & we came to know that quite a few are facing the same issue.
Let's see, I've written it to DSK regarding my chain issue.Last edited by abhijitkn; 01-27-2016, 05:57 PM.

The way we are munching miles it would be around 18 months i guess.Originally posted by experimentalhead View PostI share same thoughts. Once, warranty is over, I will have to resort to xTorque or some one else. Till then our pockets will continue to burn

Munch 24000 Km faster and get out of this stupidity.
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
But, no matter how badly you take care of a chain, it cannot go bad in less than 4k Km, as per me. This is pure quality issue. As per me DSK should address thisOriginally posted by abhijitkn View PostThat's what I had in my mind too, 6K per 4kms. I'm not considering 4 months as most of us complete it in shorter time.

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
Its not about munching miles on our machines but its about the hard earned money we are investing in this machine 3.5 lacs must be a small amount for many but for me its a lot that i saved for a long time.
so hence i suggest that we all write to DSK about these issues and hold them accountable for every paisa we have paid.As I gaze upon your beauty, I think to myself, "never have I seen an angel fly so low".

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
Exactly. For someone like us who saved money for a very long time so that we can buy a dream bike, this sounds like a total disaster. The bike is in every way superb, but the service interval and cost is utter stupidity. As someone stated above, those who have taken loan would have to keep aside loan amount + fuel cost + saving for bike expenses. That would roughly end up to 7-8K. Its high time we take this to DSK because by the time we either complete 2 years or 24k kms we would have already spent 3.5k + 15k + 18k.Originally posted by fusioncoast View PostIts not about munching miles on our machines but its about the hard earned money we are investing in this machine 3.5 lacs must be a small amount for many but for me its a lot that i saved for a long time.so hence i suggest that we all write to DSK about these issues and hold them accountable for every paisa we have paid. Its better to sweat than to bleed...

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
My second service was done under the charge of Rs.970/-Originally posted by brokenbinil View Post2394/- (new rates effective Jan 2016 - has been increased from 1500 to 2100 pre tax)
If I'm not wrong DSK changed it twice, once raised it ~Rs.1500 & now again Rs.2100 for what? Do DSK have control over this or dealerships?
How much is for 600cc? Or again they might have goofed up.
Yes Raghu, I've written it to DSK, waiting for the reply.Originally posted by experimentalhead View PostBut, no matter how badly you take care of a chain, it cannot go bad in less than 4k Km, as per me. This is pure quality issue. As per me DSK should address this
In my case I noticed the issue at 5K, but then chain was tightened a bit & SVC confirmed that the slack is ok. After few thousand kilometers I pointed out the issue, to which they asked me to change the chain which made me really uncomfortable. At one point chain is tight & at other it's too loose, the technician told me it is because the wheel was out of alignment due to bearing failure & I rode it twice for more than 500kms which may have cause this.
Let's see what DSK has to say about this. We have started gathering the list of issues to find common problems & if any we can raise voice over quality. Let me know if anybody wants to put up the issues they faced during the period of ownership.Last edited by abhijitkn; 01-27-2016, 06:45 PM.

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
OT: Is there any reliable SBK mechanic in Chennai. There are few, but they least care about you or your bike as they serve only high profile and regular customers. So, I might also need one after the service is over. Mine is due for 3rd service by April 1st week.Originally posted by Shashank Suresh View PostIn 18 months you would have already serviced the bike 4 times. 4 x 6.2k.R15S - Current

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
They showed me a service charge template which was given out by DSK, so the rates are hiked by DSK. If you ask for the list they are supposed to show you the same.Originally posted by abhijitkn View PostMy second service was done under the charge of Rs.970/-

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
I'm not sure of any template my next service is due, will check then. Last time the issue happened with you, we directly checked in the DMS system itself.Originally posted by brokenbinil View PostThey showed me a service charge template which was given out by DSK, so the rates are hiked by DSK. Charging 400rs. to change the brake pads and general service charges at ~Rs.2400. That is exorbitant. This is the only thing which is holding me up to make the purchase TNT300.
Also, wanted to know if you can get motul oil from the dealer of the same specifications and get it changed during the service. Are they allowing that?its all about CC...
