I switched to MRF Zapper S, wanted to go for Masseter but they were out of my budget. I had done about 20K Kms on factory fitted TVS remora tyres which had more than a couple of punctures. Due to monsoon, I did not have much confidence in them as I had a few slides with the rear tyre even with gentle breaking and I use front breaks most of the time.

I don't know if the zapper is really that good but I feel that it is a lot stickier than original Remora tyre. Breaking and cornering have really improved.
I did not change the front tyre as they still have tread left on them and without any puncture. Maybe Ill change them in next 5K Kms. I am planning to upgrade to a 110. Hope that too goes well.

For the first 3-4km every morning it works fine
After that it goes on-off every few seconds while I am driving (doesn't happen when I am not in motion)
Yesterday I went for a small ride and I noticed that when the bike is stable it high speeds it doesn't go on-off.
I think it is happening when I apply brakes or maybe when i am accelerating in lower speeds in the city.
Didn't happen once on the highway

What can be the issue here?
Speed sensor is malfunctioned. Take it to service centre. Mine was not working day after the service. Took it to the centre and got fixed.

Zapper is good but again puncture prone ,,,

I have NS ,,, currently at 15K,,, with almost 7-8 punctures ,,,, and with so much tread left for another 10K

On highways the confidence is less,, above 100KMPH because of 7-8 punctures,,, otherwise it's a good tyre ,, I touched almost 145 on these ,,,

This tyre can go easily to 25K ,,, if u have less than 5 punctures ,,,

It's better you buy a puncture repair kit ,,,

some times the road side puncture walas will do damage to the tyres by inserting pins so that they get more money for the fix ,,,.

One day I had puncture and I didn't observe what the mechanic was doing ,,, after the fix he just came and told me that there were 3 punctures ,,,. I strait away gave the money,,,

Again after few months there was another puncture ,,, this time also road side guy told 3 punctures ,,,, I suspected him and brought a puncture kit myself to repair it ,,,

Hi guys, I recentely moved to Noida from Delhi. Wanted to know where I can take my bike for servicing. I used to go at Okhla TVS service center, which was very good. In Noida I don't have any idea about that, please suggest.

Can Apache RTR 200 4v 2.0 do long rides rang from 650 to 750 Kms in 10-12hrs. Since I have plans to ride around 6000kms in 8-9 days is it possible with Apache RTR 200 4v 2.0. The bike is new 600kms done and first service got completed today. Will need all the advice in the world.

You can, I used to do 1000 km trips on the weekend. One weekend I done a 1500 km. So it is capable. Only thing is you need to do your second service in between at 3000-3500 kms. Which is very important. until you cross 10k mark you have to service your bike every to 3000 km.

As long as you change fluids and other consumables religiously there's nothing to fret. As the only limited factor is you not the motorcycle.

I've done 500 to 900kms a day everyday on my CT100B during my GQ ride which we completed in under 2 weeks.

As for brand new machines, all my Bajaj motorcycles to date have had less than a 1000kms on the odo before their first interstate ride, yet all is well, and the CT100B is currently at 35k on the odo and the P220 at 45k, so don't worry about the motorcycle and ride safe.

                      Regards,
                      A.P.

Thanks for your reply, I too am particular about oil change and the basic maintenance that is required while we are on the road, was wondering whether this bike is built to take on the road , the endurance during long rides, since the replies until looks positive will take on the road as planned.

                        • Long term owners' ownership experience.

***(Note to the mods: I'm new here, so excuse me if I break any etiquette that is to be followed here)***

Hello proud owners on the RTR!!

I have taken a huge liking towards the 200cc Apache, in fact I'm gonna be booking the bike within this week once the financing is sorted out. There's no turning back in that matter. I'm a person who believes our bikes reciprocate love and care depending on how much we show them the same. You take care of them, they take care of you. We fail to care of them, and they will fail us too.

I have already drenched my brain with the technical, real-life and the fun aspects of this motorcycle and also the most common problems it has. But as we all know, vast knowledge coupled with experience can do miracles. And this is where I'd like the help of you folks, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V owners. Any owner's reply will be hugely helpful in the way I will be treating my bike and if you're an owner who has crossed 20,000 KM on the odometer then it's going to help me even better. So please spare a little time to help a fellow rider out. Mention the qualities you think are good, briefly. But a detailed information about the bad ones would be highly appreciated.

                          1) Highway Cruising
                          • Cruising speed where the engine feels & sounds comfortable.
                          • NVH levels, when(RPM) & where(part of bike) do they creep in?
                          • Mileage when driven calmly and when throttled insanely.

                          2) Reliability & Quality
                          • Break downs
                          • Bodywork quality (Metal corrosion, Fiber parts durability & any annoying sounds which can't be serviced)
                          • Emissions after long term (No one cares about this, I have no idea why? So, if you too have no idea it's understandable)
                          • Any other issues

                          3) City Riding
                          • Agility and lightness
                          • Overtaking ability
                          • Engine temperature in stop go traffic
                          • Mileage

                          4) TVS's Roadside Assistance
                          • Coverage
                          • Cost

Do not forget to mention your odometer reading. (A kind request)

Excuse me folks, I know these are a lot many questions and very specific too. But it will not only help me maintain the vehicle accordingly, but also help anyone who is looking to buy this motorcycle, be it purchase decisions or maintenance planning. So a big big thanks to you if you decide to reply, hoping to have great discussions and friendly banters with you all in the future.

                          Thank You, again.
                          Ride safe.

                            1) Highway Cruising
                            • Cruising speed where the engine feels & sounds comfortable. - 90-95 kmph at highway.
                            • NVH levels, when(RPM) & where(part of bike) do they creep in? upto 7k RPM sounds and keeps it cool
                            • Mileage when driven calmly and when throttled insanely. when on highways - 40-45 kmpl. When on city - 30 kmpl. Note that I drive calmly at 80-85 kmph on highways with out any change in throttle and drive in city with insane throttle variance and gear changes.

                            2) Reliability & Quality
                            • Break downs - None so far, only few minor niggles that too because of pathetic service by ASC.
                            • Bodywork quality (Metal corrosion, Fiber parts durability & any annoying sounds which can't be serviced) - known to have chain noise but I have reduced to nil by torturing ASC, repeated visits to them after service and periodical maintenance of chain every 500-800 kms (ASC always mess up the chain slack at service and have to followup 2 to 3 times after service to adjust the chain to be spot on)
                            • Emissions after long term (No one cares about this, I have no idea why? So, if you too have no idea it's understandable) I never see any kind of visible smoke comes from the silencer.
                            • Any other issues - gear sensor issues and fuel sensor issues.

                            3) City Riding
                            • Agility and lightness - one the best if maintenance was done properly.
                            • Overtaking ability - better than R15 but still looses to NS200's 6th gear.
                            • Engine temperature in stop go traffic - never felt the heat in my legs.
                            • Mileage - 30 kmpl. you have to be a saint to get more than that.

                            4) TVS's Roadside Assistance
                            • Coverage - Never used but it was covered as a part of the buying process for 5 years.
                            • Cost

ODO on the roads - 1,00,000+
                            ODO on the Apache 200 - 10,000+

Thanks for asking these, Even I am considering it, though I have time and will be waiting for the BS-6 version which should have FI as standard I believe(no issues regarding cold start which this is famous for ).

Thanks for your answers. Can you also give your opinion about the vibes and gear shifts as km's get racked up on the ODO. Some owners have mentioned how the NVH levels deteriorates with age and kms, and also the gear shifts become hard.

Vibes is fine, but with regular maintenance of chain and correct slackness you mentioned, are the gear shifts still slick as new?. or do you face hard gear shifts with it these days, especially once the engine gets heated up in stop and go traffic?, like gears not falling into place or too much effort to shift.
