Never seen this one or any dual purpose from Michelin, but ralco speed blaster 140/70 r 17 is the most commonly used by duke and Dominar owners and is economical option too. Or you can also try pirelli sports demon 140/70 another good and economical option better grip then stock mrf.

            Hi guys,

Planning for a bigger cc bike and likes are mostly on the Dominar.
So started a lot of research on the mileage, spare part prices, maintenance, problems and experiences of the owners and gathered a lot of information.

I have asked for the exact invoice prices in many forums, facebook pages but didnt get any sort of positive response from anyone. Adding this point is not to blame anyone and i am not angry on anyone.

Took a lot of time in gathering the above spare part prices. Those prices are the exact amount which has been printed in the invoice.

There are a lot of parts which i am not aware of. Need some experts here who can elaborate me regarding those parts.

I hope this will be very much useful for the people who are planning for the Dominar like me and also for the owners also. You people can cross check the invoice prices when you are going for the service or for any repairs.

Please do share your feedback on these and educate me and others about what the above spare parts are actually for.

            Thanks...!

                Not a Dominar owner.
But about Timsun, please check the exact dimensions before buying. Remember a friend buying one for 390 but couldn't fit it as they had only 150/70 back then.

That's good to know. I would expect a minimum of 40k to be honest. It's not a twin cylinder, so I'm not under the illusion that it'll do 100 000km or anything like that either.

Read through your posts. Just wanted to clear the air about some aspects (being an owner for an year). The bike is "not" an adventure bike in any sense. Sure you can take any bike off road but this one doesnt have the suspension travel one may expect from a Versys or the sort. As a matter of fact I had a Pulsar 200 NS which is a street naked for about 3 years and I clocked above 25000 kms on it. That bike being a naked had slightly better off road ability and suspension travel as compared to the Dominar. The Dominar is mainly for highway cruising and long sweeping turns. Of course I use it in the city about 70% of the times and it serves as a multi purpose bike but if you feel this can be an apt ride to satiate your off roading needs, I think you may be disappointed. I would suggest you take a longish test ride or rent it for a couple of days to confirm what I have mentioned.

Maintenance is a non issue on it. The only thing which seems to demand attention is the chain which gets pretty dry in 500 - 750 kms. If you take care of the bike and service it well I do not see it failing you. Like you said, spare parts if needed are cheap as well and it should be much more economical to maintain as compared to your Husqverna or a Kawasaki. You seem to be quite tall and I hope when you took the test ride you didnt feel cramped on it. At 182 cms myself, I am quite comfortable.

Do reach out in case you have any more queries.
I did only a short 10 minute test ride. The bike felt quite comfortable, but I'll obviously need a longer one to get to know the bike better. I was impressed with the acceleration and braking power and found the instrument cluster good. I also don't want the bike for adventure riding in the proper sense, so no worries about that. I do weekly off-road riding on my 450cc 105kg dirt bike which has almost an extra 20 horses on the Dominar. I'll be keeping that one for the real off-roading. The Dommy would be used exclusively as an everyday city bike, as well as for weekend highway runs (which include the occasional laterite roads and bumpy bits). I won't be intentionally taking it over rough terrain. I need to do 150km every weekend (300km return) and I reckon I could save a bit of time on the Dominar vs a scooter which tops out at 80kmh.

I'd also be hopefully eventually taking it on a bigger SEA trip (Laos/Thailand). I find the lack of windshield annoying as that's what annoys me the most on my scooter (wind noise/buffeting), but I guess I can get one from aliexpress easily enough.

Guys can anyone tell me the average mileage of the bike? I plan om getting one but I'm not sure if it will be worth it considering I do about 70km travel per day(80%on highways). Please don't kill me as I'm asking about the mileage of a 400cc bike...😋😋

I get about 26-27 in city and around 30 in Highway.

                            Mileage is very subjective.
I get around 26-28kmpl in city conditions mostly reaching till 70kmph in 5 gear.
In highway the mileage considerably increases. I get around 35 kmpl while maintaining an average of 90kmph, and 32kmpl while maintaining an average of 110kmph (which I consider to be the ideal cruising speed for this machine). For 120 to 130 kmph expect a mileage of 28-30kmpl. Anything beyond that and it drops drastically around 22kmpl to 25kmpl.

I am Ashoka from Bengaluru. Currently ride a humble GS150 R which has served me well (~73k kms) from last 7 years. Now I am planning for an upgrade and almost finalised Dominar as my upgrade. Have gone through this thread almost completely and understand what this Bike can/cannot do. Despite that have some doubts which I am sure you guys can throw some light on

                                1. Bike will be used predominantly in city. My daily commute is 40kms in Bengaluru. Out of these 12 kms are pure open road with negligible traffic and the rest are typical bengaluru traffic with uneven patches of tarmac, huge bumps. Do you feel I can use Dominar as my primary mode of commute
Totally upto you how you manage this bike. It is easy to handle through the traffic per se. But if you really want to figure that out, rent out one for a couple of days just to figure out your comfort level with dominar on city roads. Highways are pure bliss for this bike.

                                2. Since this will be my primary ride, during weekends i will be accompanied by my wife for small runabouts within city limits. Max 20-30kms. Will it be comfortable for pillions for such usage
Pillion comfort is good. Again to be sure, rent it out and roam around with pillion.

                                3. Took a good test drive with my wife as pillion. for first few moments she was scared of the instant acceleration in any gears. During test drive atleast she was not very confidant/comfortable as but I am sure with time she will get used to it. Main problem she faced was there is no grab handle/protection of sorts behind rear seat. She felt seat just abruptly ended . Any thoughts on how to sit comfortably / get used to such seat.
Get a back rest. There are a couple of companies which provides (CarbonRacing, LLUVIA industries, Khivraj Bajaj (Kasturba Rd) also have their own custom made). Believe me, your pillion will love this and will never be scared. I have one installed.

                                4. I am used to 6 gears and reg riding in bumper-to-bumper traffic, my GS can do it with very less gear changing. I can accelerate without engine knocking even from a low speed of 30 in 6th gear(thats how tall the gearing is on GS). Obviously same cannot be done on dominar but are 3rd, 4th gears tall enough to amble around city traffic?
in city, you will not use more than 4 gears. 3rd one will easily pull you from 22kmph and 4th from 33kmph without lugging engine. Bike does 53kmph on 4th at 4000 rpm.

I am a healthy built guy and hence do not have any problem with seat hight/wight of bike.

Most likely I will be choosing Glacier blue / red as my ride. Any other tips/info do let me know.
                                .
