Hi Guys, I have booked 2018 Canyon red colour last week and later changed my mind and went for white as I wanted white and dealer told me that he had couple of white bikes in stock. Now the payment is done and going to take delivery on Wednesday after registration. This will be my 4th new bike (2008-2009 Shine, 2014-2015 Duke 200, 2016 Jan-Oct R15S)Will update with my overall purchase experience [emoji51][emoji51]

Dominar is a VFM alternative for REs and Duke brothers. It is a relatively new model with excellent touring credentials and offers features still unmatched by many of its competitive models and hence very much relevant.
Competitive models include a range of models such as 1) Royal Enfield Classic/TB 350/500 2) RE Himalayan 3) Mahindra Mojo (none of the above models offer ABS even as an option ) 4) CBR250R 5) TVS Apache 310 and 6) Duke 200/390 brothers.
Only thing I will recommend you is to test ride and check if the weight is okay for you and if that’s not an issue, please go ahead and get your Dominar..

      Cheers

Your bike seems to be suffering from the power lag issue, could be coz of bad fuel, a choked airfilter or also some thing with throttle body. Go to your service center and aks them to change the af and clean the throttle body. And ecu reflash would also help in this case.
And since the summer is approaching , make a habit to open and close the tank twice a day or before moving to let the trapped hot air escape.

What type of noise is it, and does it go away when you press the clutch or is it always remains.
How is the play in your clutch lever. Go to the service center and get the clutch adjustments done it would help.

The noise is there regardless of anything else and is dependent on the RPM.

              Hi Jatin,

I have had the Dominar for exactly 364 days as of today, so I can shed light on the experience for you. I will be blunt, if you feel you will not be touring the highways a lot then the Dominar may not be what you should be looking at. Trust me on this. I use it nearly everyday and almost every weekend take it out to the highways, even for a short stint. It is on these highway stints that I get the feeling of "paisa vasool". Even with a pillion, this bike pulls like a locomotive on steroids. Hence its strength lies in higher revs and slightly higher speeds.

I agree that the bike has excellent torque in the low and mid range too, but somehow it feels more at ease north of 80 kmph with the scenery flying by. Its good in the city but absolutely fantastic on the highway. I was always clear why I was buying this bike. I knew I would be feeding it many kms on the highway. In the city its bulk though not a hard constraint, is definitely something which you may want to bear in mind.

Mumbai should have good rental services. I would advise you to rent this bike for a day and use it like you would in real life scenario. I think the best city slickers under 1.5 Lakhs are the FZ25 and the NS200 so if you feel that highway rides will be occasional, I would suggest you look at these as well. Please dont hesitate in asking for any more details you may want. I have just answered from my experience and feel of the bike over the past year.

                Hi All,

A short update regarding two additions for My Dominar.
                1. Installed a hazard light device which have around 50 patterns (though gonna use only 1 ). And its just a plug and play so no wire cutting and a straight fit,
                2. Installed blind spot mirror on existing mirror and i have to say its very useful, bought it from Amazon.

Thank You for listing out all the options. I considered Mojo, Apache 310 and Duke but all are above 2L. Dominar was the only option under 2L. Planning for test ride this weekend. Let's see how it goes. Also I ride with my wife/pillion most of the times. So that is also 1 factor. I have ridden my current bike Hornet 10,000km in 1 year, out of which she would have accompanied me in at least 6-7000km . She loves traveling on motorcycle.

Thank you so much for writing the detailed answer. That clears a lot of my doubts. I drive at least 70km per day, with at least 30km having pillion and half of it on highway. So I think I should also get 'paisa vasool' feeling.

I tried searching for Dominar on rent in Mumbai and could not locate proper rental agency. So I guess have to be satisfied with test ride only.

Guys I test drove a Dominar 2018 model today. There was a sudden loss of power at about 5000-6000 rpm in 4th gear. Is this common on all models?

What was the odo reading of the bike, as new bike have 6k rpm limiter till 2000kms , and once crossing 2000kms the limiter will automatically shift to 8.5k and power cut at 9k.

Guys, There is Noise coming from my Rear Disk Break when I ride below 20kmph. Noise goes away past 20 kmph.
I saw Soniji's video on YouTube @ how to clean Break Pads and planning to do the same. If anyone faced same issue please let me know how to fix it.
                          Thanks.

It was new bike. 12 km on odo. The showroom got it just the last day. They've been providing test drives on the old model. And this is a 2018 model

Hello everyone.. I want some help regarding service of bike. I did first service on 28 November 2017 and it Is written on the bill I received that the next due service is on 28 Feb 2018. However as per manual it says 240days for second service. so from when the time is calculated in manual and when should i go for the 2nd service. As i did first service at 332km and now the odo is around 700km. I know it's too less which is expected by 2nd service. So suggest guys. Thanks

240 days are from date of purchasing not from last service.from second service onward it is 120 days from last service.
