    Bro,
I'm 5'11" n wind blast up until 125-130 Kmph is pretty manageable unless the rider is skinny enough to not being able to beat it...Generally my grip too is a bit on the sticky side (either due gym or the calluses in my palms) :-)
Anyways, IMHO you need to change to AS 200's windscreen only if you gonna be zapping at more than 130 on your rides..Haven't done that ever knowing the perils of our highways so can't say much about that..but at the end of the day, the only windscreen that comes close to stock in look is the AS 200's..You can look up Vijay hansora's video on YouTube to get an idea..

I would not duck on my tank, and assuming i ride between 90 - 130 Kmph during my commute (50% highways), how does it feel with stock windscreen (Almost non existent)..
      Hi Buddy,

I did a couple of acceleration and top speed runs on my Dominar over the last 2 weekends on a empty stretch of highway I am well acquainted with. First off, I am 6 ft tall so yes, windblast was a concern for me. Thankfully, till about 120 KMPH, I was in my comfort zone and did not need to duck. After 130, the wind blast was considerable.

Secondly, during my acceleration runs, the wind blast felt very pronounced, so beware, under hard acceleration into stratospheric speeds, you will face a lot of wind resistance.

I have not added anything on the bike apart from a mobile holder, blind spot mirror and an enthusiastic rider!

Thanks [MENTION=65319]Vikramaditya[/MENTION].. Precisely what i was looking for..

Usually i don't duck when commuting, like to have fun when in the mood/open road but like to have at-least some form of wind protection..

Pulsar 220F was capable of 130 Kmph top speed and had half fairing.. Dominar 400, capable of 150 + Kmph, doesn't have half fairing.. Worst case, Karizma R had that (125 Kmph top speed), 150cc motorcycle have it..

I love everything abt the Dominar 400..If Bajaj had a half fairing model of Dominar 400 F, i wouldn't even consider fully faired bikes (Honda CBR250R).. It would have been a straight choice..

When i took the test ride of Dominar 400, in the feedback form i mentioned it as "Missing half fairing".. Don't know if it reaches Bajaj R & D center..

Anyways, thanks again for all the owners chipping in..

With all due respect dude, we can only tell or guide you on what this beast of machine is and not what we all wish it could have been.

Dominar D400 is naked tourer build to take on like of RE, head on. What you are describing, it should have been is KTM RC390.. and this bike is not.

Dominar does what it was build for, touring with occasional high speed bust. It’s capable of achieving speeds of 165+ kmph on a windless day. Otherwise 135-140 kmph is comforting with bearable wind blast.

Installing tall windshield on Dominar helps is reducing wind blast (only mildly) but it does not improve or increase high speed performance. Owner who have installed it may agree. [emoji4]

Installing windshield on bikes like Dominar has mainly two purpose, reducing or diverting wind blast and debris away from rider’s face. However this depends on the length of windshield. If the height of windshield is up to rider’s nose tip, it works but anything thing below that may actually do more harm than good.

Thank you [MENTION=95876]sumith.jagadisan[/MENTION] .. Yes it is beast of machine, half fairing was just my wish

Right.. But RE can't do more than 120, so wind-blast at those speeds are fine (or) bearable.. But Dominar 400 can do 150 Kmph.. My logic was, if it was a tourer, capable of higher speed, then diverting wind away from the rider would have been even better..

What you are describing, it should have been is KTM RC390.. and this bike is not.
Nope.. What i meant was a half fairing that diverts some wind away from casual rider, someone who don't duck..

I know I’m gonna be hated for this but here it goes..[emoji12]

Dominar is (in motorcyclist world) called an entry level or beginner level motorcycle. Meaning one learns how to ride, use and learn about dual channel ABS, slipper clutch, power delivery etc.. and from this graduate to higher capacity motorcycles.

Before in India, we did not have option to practically learn this, apart from Race track. A motorcycle enthusiast had to buy expensive motorcycle, crash it a few times to learn pros and cons. But now thanks to 200+cc motorcycles, one could learn and repair without burning a hole in the pocket.

In case of RE, engine design was 40+ year old with very few minor changes. Though this has changed now. Due to low power but higher torque and engine limitations, bike could not go beyond 120.

Bajaj plans to launch 400cc version of Pulsar RS (info not confirmed, but was seen at auto expo in yr 16/17) if you are willing to wait.

Further more unlike Germany, we don’t have auto ban to be able to ride at high speed. Maximum time/duration will be limited due to cows, path holes, speed breakers, overloaded lorries with dangerous items procuring out of them.

If wind blast is your primary concern then you should look into aftermarket windshield but let me warn you, it will not make a major change or feel while riding but if you plan to use it to commute btw office and home with occasional or weekend touring, you should go for Dominar. It’s bang for buck [emoji6]. Wind bast won’t be a major concern.

Hmmm..That was some explanation.. [emoji5] What happens to commuting experience gained from small capacity motorcycles?

Nope..As of now, Dominar 400 looks much more proportionate motorcycle IMO..

Yes commute btw office and home only and no touring at all.. Your reasoning makes me consider the Dominar again [emoji5]

To be honest, power delivery and torque produced by a small capacity engine is nowhere comparable to power and torque produced by a higher capacity engine.

Don’t know if you have ridden RX 100.. On RX100 if you don’t release the clutch and accelerate properly in first gear, you will end up with wheelie and thrown of the bike. Higher capacity engine can do that you in 3rd or 4th gear.

Smaller capacity bikes are like cycles with training wheels, after you learn to balance a cycle you remove training wheels. Then u graduate to little bigger cycle, Dominar fits here.

Touring is great feeling and satisfaction. Touring teaches dos and do nots. Touring is the best way to understand your biking skills and what your machine is capable of. So every opportunity you get to use your motorcycle for along distance journeys (be it 100 km or more) don’t miss it. Of course you need to prepare a few things before plan your journey.

I own the Gixxer for abt 3.5yrs, and felt it was a great motorcycle of all the small capacity ones that i had..Dominar should be an upgrade..

BTW for the 2018 version, some youtube videos have said, Bajaj has remapped the ECU, so the bike is capable of higher top speed.. Is that true?

I think wind blast should be a concern only if you are doing triple digit speeds over an extended period of time. It does caise fatigue in the neck due to constant wind pressure pushing your melon back and you cervical musculature trying to hold the neck in position. I have booked a matt black dominar and most of my ride will be on highways so i am pretty confused should i get the tall windscreen or not. owners please give ulyour kind opinion..

Dominar comes with 2yrs warranty or 30,000km (whichever comes first).. no additional 2 yr warranty.

Yes. Windblast can be painful when you cruise at 100+ kmph. It depends on how often do you ride and how much you clock in a day. If you're a weekend rider doing 400-600 kms then i suggest go for smaller windshield and if you plan 1000+ kms ride often then go for taller one with custom sturdy and adjustable brackets along with some wide tour friendly raised handlebar for suitable upright position.

I don't own Dominar yet but planning to get one for me. But whenever I get chance I borrow my friend's Dom for a weekend ride. I'm 6'4 tall and I need to bend down a lil on handle bar which makes me uncomfortable after 40-50 kms. also due to stiffer suspensions I feel it hard to take Dom for a 1500+ kms run. So here only I stumble upon making decision to choose from Dom or Himalayan. Maybe I should wait for BMW's 310GS
