Abt a week after delivery, and abt 350 kms on the ODO, i noticed some leak on the engine head and on the crank case..

Here is a picture of the same..Hope it is clearly visible.. Am guessing it is coolant leak..

Should i wait for few more kms and check it in first service (or) should i check immediately..

Its better to check immediately for your peace of mind. Since its a brand new bike, the problem would mostly be a minor one. Which dealership did you take the bike?

Get it checked properly then, could be the head gasket, and if the coolant is also mixing in engine oil then you need new oil too.

Yeah.. I too suspect it could be head gasket.. Will check that.. Not sure, if gasket should be replaced (or) if the dealer would seal it with some adhesive..

Also i believe the first service is at 450 Kms.. Should the oil filter be replaced?..

I have a shell petrol bunk near by, they change engine oil there free of labour cost.. Thinking of Shell Advance Ultra 15W-50 API SM Fully Synthetic Motorbike Engine Oil..

Won't this void the warranty? Please check with bajaj before doing that.

Hmmm.. this looks like symptoms of excessive engine oil. Ask a friend or family member to sit on the bike and hold it in a level position and check for following.

                  1.

                  2.

Is the fluid of oily nature?

If it is the head gasket then changing it is the better and sure solution, and for oil 15w50 is the wrong grade stick with 10w50 it is the best, brand could be any but again bajaj oil is also very good.
And first let them diagnose the issue and find a solution. If the coolant is found mixing with oil then you have to change oil, and yes oil filter is recommended to be changed with new oil.
One more thing if you ever do a oil change outside, u need to open 3 things , drain bolt, oil filter and the magnetic filter at the bottom for which lower cowl needs to be removed.
New oil filter and cleaning of magnetic filter and the plastic one inside the drain bolt.

Since you are approaching 500kms you can also make this part of first service as early service never hurt and is better for new engine, but do keep all the records with u take pics of job sheet too.

Don't think changing the engine oil would void the warranty.. Would be surprised if they did that..

Ok. Will check this.. But on the day of delivery i fairly recollect noticing the oil level on level ground, it was at right level..

                      2.
Coolant also in right level.. Between the levels..

Is the fluid of oily nature?
Nope.. it wasn't oily.. It was thin..

                        Sure buddy.. Thanks for details..

Sure.. i would first let the service center diagnose the issue and share here..

I had read some threads on oil grade here, and minimum temp in my town doesn't drop below 20 degrees most of the time.. So i thought 15W 50 should be fine.. Just to feel if the shell has some improvement over the stock oil..

A few points to consider. From the picture you've posted, the leak seems to have come from the left side of the engine, the stator cover. The radiator cap and the coolant level indicator are on the right side of the motorcycle. Most probably it can be a coolant boil induced overflow or the overflow pipe can be dislodged from the reservoir nipple, resulting in an improper drainage. Do inspect them both. Secondly, the tactile feel would give you an idea, if the residue is sticky, gooey and oil like, you definitely have an oil weep somewhere, and given the close proximity to the stator cover, most leaks happen near the magneto wire boot. An inspection of that would give you an idea. Wipe the area clean or wash the area with mild soap water if preferred and keep a tab on the oil level and radiator coolant.

It can be as simple as coolant overflow or a mild weep at the stator wire boot or anything that's fastened on the magneto cover, from the timing hole cap and what not. Wash the area, torque the paraphrenalia around the stator cover and observe.

It though, is imperative to get it checked at the SVC, for either of the leaks be it engine or radiator.

                          Keep your observations posted.

                          Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                          THE END

I just hope it was an overflow of coolant.. It didn't happen for sure in the last week.. Must have happened sometime over weekend..

Got my bike serviced today at 550kms..
                              1. Post service theres a lot of heating. didnt feel this much heat radiating pre service
                              2. Vibes have increased around the tank region.. this is really really annoying right now because the vibes were supposed to reduce after service
                              3. Cost of service 1300
                              4. Exhaust Gasket needs to be changed every service which requires the exhaust to be removed. Surprised me very much.

Overall i am not feeling very happy post service. all the problems which were supposed to vanish have magnified and new problems have creeped up..
