Nopes, Ijis, it's the O-ring. The outer whitish cover is just a sensor protector and they won't cause any leak. Failure of O-ring will.

Thx Mod.. When i requested the service center on the defective part, they said it was taken by head service center, chennai..

No way, they had spare sensor and would have replaced it in quick time..I suspect they changed only the O-Ring, which caused the leak..

But, would oil leak leave stain mark?..

Did abt 70 Kms after the replaced part..Abt 590 Kms on the ODO now..So deliberately waiting for the bike to hit 750 kms on the ODO, also to observe if the problem repeats again..

        Hi guys

Will Dominar 400 be an overkill if I end up using it only in cities? How easy or difficult it is to maintain Dominar 400 compared to Fazer 25 and CBR 250R?
I like the seating position and comfort of Dominar but am not sure how practical it is to use purely for commuting in city. Comfort is my top priority. Low maintenance and ABS are next items in my wishlist. Please share your suggestions.

Buying a new bike is a very personal decision. Dominar wont be an overkill if you like the bike.
Once you will get used to it, it will not be that tough to ride in city conditions. And may be, after sometime, you get the urge to take it out on Highway spins

However, If city commuting is the major requirement, you can consider FZ25 as well.
              1) You can save some investment bucks in FZ25. It is ~ INR 50000 cheaper than Dominar.
              2) Maneuverability in city will certainly be easier, than Dominar as the weight of FZ is almost approx 35 kg lesser.
              3) Mileage is better. Hence, more savings.
              4) Enough bhp and torque figures for city riding (20bhp and 20NM)
              5) And you get the Yamaha's reliability, quality and smooth ride.

Only negative is lack of ABS in FZ25.

Give it a thought if you want.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have already considered FZ25 and test rode both FZ25 and Fazer 25.

I am getting this bike as a gift from office. The budget is 2 lakhs. So I need not worry purchase price as long as the price is lesser than 2 lakhs. But FZ25 would save fuel costs significantly. I liked Dominar's riding position better than FZ. I have been riding a FZ16 for almost 8 years (1 lakh + kms). I would prefer an upright riding position. But if I prefer Dominar, I would definitely miss the reliability and smoothness of Yamaha. However the lack of ABS in FZ25 is the deal breaker for me :-( I cannot wait till next year since I do not have a bike to ride at the moment.

Only two factors are worrying me about Dominar at the moment:
                1) Heating issues in bumper to bumper traffic
                2) Maintenance (My FZ16 performed superbly despite poor maintenance)

Oil leaks leave stain mark, which are more or less residue, and can be removed when cleaned then and there, observed. When the oil inside the engine is in pretty bad shape and oil leaks are prominent, these can permanently leave stain marks on painted surface i.e body parts; yellow/brownish stains which bonds with the paint and are hard to remove if left to say there for long time. But usually, if there is an oil leak, oils normally leave residue and attracts dust like magnet, that's why you see, blackish residue when you check any oil stain mark, they appear black and rough.

                  Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                  The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                      1) Just change the coolant to Motul Motocool Expert will resolve the B2B heating issue. (As am using good result)
                      2) BAJAJ spares are affordable(service center is exceptional), Being 400cc we have to check for leakage in routine.

Same way it comes with 10mm Allen key screws by default domi got(10mm), Others mirror are 13mm.

Competed 550kms so far. So it's time for first service. So far no issues w.r.t coolant/oil spillages.
Vibrations have reduced but i can hear some buzzing during hard acceleration. May be is nothing but will keep an eye for that.
Was just glancing through the manual and found a typo in one of the images. The description for the 2 parts have been reversed [emoji38]

                            Hi Guys,
Last week i did a one day ride to Kolli hills on my "Yeti" ( Chennai-kolli-Chennai 698 kms round trip!!) and would like to post below observations

                            1) Stiff suspension helped the highway ride very much and handled like a dream on those 140 hairpins ( up and down)
                            2) Overall fuel efficiency was a respectable 30 kmpl which ( doing 100-110 on highways and 80-90 on country lanes)
                            3) Mid-range acceleration is so gooooddd!! ( example at 70 kmph all you need is a small flick of your right paw to reach 120+ speeds)
                            4) Vibrations are very less noticeable at two speed ranges ( in my case ) 85-90 kmph & 110-115 in 6th
                            5) No tiredness after !700 kms trip - my last record was 560 kms ( Chennai-Palakkad)
                            6) ABS is a boon and a must have feature - i was overtaking one very irritating and slow going SETC bus from the left ( it was doing 60 and was on right lane) - and suddenly i saw one speed control barricade blocking my lane ( at around 90 kmph!!) and stopped just in time without any drama ONLY BECAUSE OF ABS!!

hope these observations will help those who are planning to buy Domi

I bought 2017 model white Domi from Tambaram sanatorium showroom in February.
                                1. My sales experience was generally good
                                2. Service experience was also satisfactory so far
(I did 1st service and one small intermediate service there)
