I'm facing this issue after the first service

Can someone help me out?

Dominar_Tanmay suggested me to clean the chain and the front sprocket
So, I removed the front sprocket and there was too much grease(Muddy sludge) around the front sprocket.
Cleaned the chain and the front sprocket with WD-40, washed the chain using a water wash gun , dried it up and lubed it with Motul C2 chain lube
And the problem has vanished
no rubbing sound
She runs smooth af <3

I use what is recommended by Bajaj in the owners manual. A can of OKS Chain lube. Seems to work as expected. Not much dirt on chain after 1600 km. Did two applications, 1 at 1k km and another at 1500 km.

Chain seems clean and no rust spots yet. When this gets over, i will walk into a Bajaj Service Center and ask : 'Got OKS?'

Update : OKS gets over too soon, is around 193/- for a 175ml can. Even a new can sounds empty almost. So not value for money. Switched to Motul now. Much better value at 230 for a 250ml can.

OKS is stickier than motul which costs double.

Check if the brake pads are still good. I always changed my brake pads every 5000 kilometres even if they still had some life in them. I always had the sharp bite on the brakes of my old bike. Came in handy multiple times.

As there are wiring there under the rear seat?
Actually the entire fuse box is somewhere there..... But don't worry it's designed to be waterproof and you will be good.
Rain or wash... You will be okay.

never use engine oil for chain lubrication period. less viscous, viscous, new, used. please avoid them at all cost for chain lubrication.

1. engine oils tend to sling off chain ( extremely viscous for chain lube application) because they are made to form a film on the internal parts of engine and pumped through a filter and back into engine parts. it is engineered very carefully just to perform that task. ( it will also splash around the wheel and front sprocket case making it more dirty)
2. they attract dirt, another property that engineers had mind was to make the engine oil able carry all the contaminants and dirt present to the filter, bike chains do not have filter so all the dirt and gritty stuff will form a layer of gunk around your chain and sprockets.
3. it is also hard to wash out once applied, it will resist all the mild chain cleaners and not come off easily unless you add a solvent or something.

i personally recommned if you find motul lube expensive go for the 3M chain lube it is bit cheaper and specially desgined for chain lubing application, protecting the chain best.
for cleaning please use wd-40 if you think chain cleaners are expensive. WD-40 is much researched upon for chian cleaning application and it works just good it does not damage the rings or anything its just a myth.

WD40+proper chain lube = dust free chain, smooth ride and added life of chain and sprockets.

if spend 1.7 lacs for the bike, a large can of 3M lube of rs.450 shouldn't hurt and WD 40 is around 250rs as far as i know.
you dont require much lube though spray it sparingly and wipe off the excess or else it will splutter around when chain is in drive.
so a big can will last till long.
100% agree with u on the engine oil front it should not be used to lube the chain.
And wd40 is avery good cleaner i personally use it and recommend it but diesel is way more better and cheaper to clean the chain.

You can use either or neither. Nobody is forcing the customers to use any particular chain lube, they just recommend it.

aashray223 - you're right about engine oils flinging off and attracting dirt. Judicious application is required. Though, some commercial lubes do collect grime. However, the "specially made for chains" part is just plain old marketing tricks. If a chain lasts the same if you lube it with engine oil, 2T oil, or 3M, whats the speciality?

As to the gunk collecting around the front sprocket, yes it does. But it's only a cosmetic effect on the underbody, and has no bearing on the life of the chain or sprocket in my experience. If you're a guy who wants every part of his motorbike gleaming like Shilpa Shetty's face, then dry lubes like Wurth and Du-Pont are best.
Ha ha ha ture yaar , i have tried all kind to Bisleri and Aqua on my chain. And this bike consumes chain lube like it has serious hunger pangs. Gets dry very soon i lube it at every 300 kms.
So i after burning many holes into my small pocket i have now resort back to more economical and better option on recommendation for very good friend and big bro zestbiker , the 90 grade gear oil.
Cost only 110 bucka for 500ml and would last along time with n number of usage.

In past i have used 60 grade oil but this time it is 90 grade or in hot summers can try 140 grade.

hello IJS,

300 km to 500 km is the recommended interval for cleaning and lubing the chain by most motorcycle experts. there are three ways to drive the rear wheel belt, chain and shaft. of all three chain is the most efficient and trust me it requires tremendous maintenance. i mean not everyone cares much and at some point it doesn't matter to us, unless we are on a track or going some serious long distance touring. but using the right lube and right cleaner at regular intervals definitely improves the chain performance and smoothness. Ask someone who have experience or race on tracks, he/she can tell you better.

what i mean is, if someone is a real freak about his motorcycle and takes his/her business seriously he/she should definitely use chain lubes and cleaners. else if you are just a daily commuter or riding for fun doesn't really matter much and there's no point on buying expensive lubes or cleaners. its not like that a dirty/dry chain is end of the world haha.

aashray223 bhai i use to lube chain of my previous bikes at 500 or 600 kms and cleaning at 1000kms but Dominar's chain gets dry sooner then others. So i start looking at it from 250kms and lube it as soon as it felt like or 300kms.
Waise bhi chain lube with each tank full is recommended for big bikes.
And lubing before every long ride is a good practice.

Hello riders,
My domi has finished around 300k now. 1st to 4th gear is worrying me, because Everytime I upshift or downshift in these gears there is loud thud. But sometimes it's buttersmooth. I shift at 3000 rpm for 1st three and 3500rpm for other 3. Am I not shifting correctly or is it because I have not completed 1st service yet?

Upshifting in hard revving is always smooth for me. For downshifts, depends on whether i reach the rpm sweet spot for that gear.
I would recommend going to the local mechanic you trust and adjust clutch play. This will help. Get latest ecu update and also motul 7100 has helped with smoother gear shifts.
