Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to post my question, but has any one noticed any reduction in the "Thud" sound, when engaging the first gear.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hey guys. Does does anyone have their hands on the service manual of the dominar? (Not talking bout the owners Manual) i tried looking on the internet but wasnt successful. Bajaj is pretty secretive like that. I did manage to fine a scanned copy of RS 200 though. I just think that the service manual would be an intesting read. Shout out to all the DIY guys in the group.

No this first gear thud is unavoidable and it would remain there and is perfectly normal with such high revving bikes.Originally posted by TCHAT View PostHi,

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hello all
I have completed 2100 kms on my domi had no problems with it ,however recently the right front fork oil seal is damaged and fork oil is leaking, I mean not like it's flowing out or anything but it gets accumulated around the oil seal and then drops. I haven't put stress on the fork at all no hard hits on the bumps potholes or anything, I am yet to take it to service center. I want to know :
will this be included in warranty ?
How did this happen ? I mean I didn't ride rough at all.
Has anyone faced a similar issue ?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I just got my dominar bike and hardly ridden beyond 30 km. I took my bike from dealer staight to home and rode in heavy traffic. I got sensation of high heat from engine and little burning smell. Is it normal or what? It is also jerky in 2nd gear. Going to ride today for little long. Hope everything is alright.

Nothing to worry about I would say. It might be due to some paint polish or coating on the engine casing, heating up and giving a burnt smell. And as far as rough 2nd gear is concerned just be patient with it it's is because the engine is not breaked in yet also it is running thick mineral oil so the engine will be rough till first service after that it will be smoother.

Thank you so much for quick response @aashery223.
And another query I have is during first service they use bajaj engine oil and from what I have learned it seems that motul 7100 or 300V is best for smooth running. What to do about that? And also for coolant.

You might have read about the Dominar not having any heating issues whatsoever from a lot of youtube videos. That isnt really true for a brand new dominar. The heat is almost unbearable in traffic when the bike is brand new, but it miraculously reduces by a big amount after about 500 km. I have done around 1600+ km now and i can say the heat is not noticeable at all now. So dont worry about it, just dont rev it too hard in traffic, because the radiator does not get much ram air to cool down the engine (the coolant rather) and it tends to heat up a lot.
I was almost shocked initially when i took the bike out on the roads, the heat was unbearable. Almost cursing all the reviewers who kept saying the heating issue is non existent on this bike compared to some other brands. (KTM)Last edited by Indivar; 09-09-2017, 09:17 PM.

Jokes aside, Bajaj bikes generally heat up a lot during the starting phase. I agree to that. I have good experience with my P220. With some miles on the odo, it gradually decreases and settles to a more human level. The fresh engine and coating does heat up a lot. It'd be better if the new bike is kept in a well ventilated area. The best part of having a Bajaj bike is low maintenance. All you need to do is get it checked and serviced at regular intervals.

Hi Bro, bear for some more kms, it will reduce. The ambient is also the factor, in sunny hot days it will heat up quicker than on cool winter days or nights.Originally posted by Indivar View PostHi

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
For the coolant you can use motul motocool, or any other as per the specs mentioned in owner manual, but I would recommend to stick to bajaj oil till 5000 kms at least then switch to motul 7100 don't use 300v it doesn't suit dominar also it only comes in 15w50 grade. I am suggesting bajaj oil because it is specially made for dominar and protects the engine best during its earlier phase. Also it is very reasonably priced so that's additional advantage.Originally posted by krish_095 View PostThank you so much for quick response @aashery223.
