Siddharth i am a very new owner of dominar and ridden only 400 sometging km on it , which bike you had previously? i come from a 125 cc bike so dont know much about performance bikes but i am enjoying every bit of it. I have ridden ktm 390 , re 350,500 of friends but for veey little so dont know about their charachteristics as from your queries you mentioned 2 lacs many time so to be precise it costs less than 30 k from 2 lacs and the better bikes than dominar ( spec sheet wise) costs 50 k above 2 lac . So if you can extend your budget to that then great otherwise it is a great buy superb VFM

    Good points about dominar:
    1. Stability and confidence at speed from 80-110
    2. Built - yest detailing is very fine and quality of parts also very good
    3. Looks -yummy

      1. In other threads they are talking about ecu update how to know if i got it already have done 1500km for now and first service is done.

      2. While im riding in 6th gear and release the throttle for downshift and rev it again i feel a lag specially if im in between 3 to 4k rpm.

      3. There are minor scratches on bike and leg gaurd is bend... what should i do? Should i leave the scratches and should i just bring leg gaurd to its previous position or should i put a new leg gaurd any other suggestion regarding leg gaurd will be helpfull . Scratches cant be removed i need to replace the whole pary said the dealer.

      3. When i can change exhaust and what will be the negative effect of it if i change it now betwqeen 1.5k to 2k

I have mentioned 2 lakhs as a round figure on total investment[emoji16] . As far as my previous ride is concerned i was a proud owner of TVS APACHE 180 ABS .simply loved that bike and i rode it almost 7 years . Thats y i am expecting a good VFM bike within my budget and strictly within it.

          * You can very well go at any time to the Bajaj ASS and ask for the ECU update. They flash the ECU with the latest code based on the version - ABS or STD.
This should also resolve your lag issue.
          * Good to hear that you were geared up and it has saved you from injuries. ☺️
You can get the leg/engine guard changed. Better to have a new one which can withstand things better. (I wish you never have anything like that again).
          * Ours is not a country with awesome infra. I'll say stick with the factory exhaust. There is no benefit of having an exhaust can like that of Akrapovic for a humble single cylinder engine. It's not going to be a nice sound. It'll be more of a noise.

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

for an average user, there is no way to know that. Bajaj service centers have OBD scanners that they use to flash new files or scan the existing ones. most performance tuners will have this tool but you wouldn't gain anything out of it. the objective is to have a smooth bike and as far as you get that, dont fret about the latest and greatest.

            2. While im riding in 6th gear and release the throttle for downshift and rev it again i feel a lag specially if im in between 3 to 4k rpm.
6th gear is relatively tall. use it when you are above 75kmph. as far as you are in city limits, forget that you have one tap into. keep her on the boil and this lag will not happen.

            3. There are minor scratches on bike and leg gaurd is bend... what should i do? A picture would help. leg guard hinges are directly mounted on frame. the damage could be more than what it appears to be.

whenever you feel like. because neither bajaj nor any of us (the average user) would tell you to change it. ECU map accounts the exhaust flow as well.

Hi Guys! I am new here.

I am looking for a bike to commute to office from my house which is going to be a distance of 30 kms one way (60 kms in total). I've shortlisted the Dominar and the Duke 390. Which would be better for me? I am looking for the following:
              1. Fair fuel efficiency (25 - 30 kmpl)
              2. My back shouldn't ache after the 30 km drive.
              3. A bit of fun when I want to rev the engine.

              What do you guys suggest?

              Regards,
              Jagdish

Listen to your heart, ride both and buy what u get connectd with instantly. Both the bikes are VFM and are good in their respective domain.

You are right. However, will I get a mileage between 25 and 30?

Formula 1 carnabua wax , or 3m liquid both are best and economical.

Does slipper clutch help in reducing kickbacks in first and second gear? If you leave the clutch fully in first gear does it kick back and forth and engine gets turned off like other bikes? If it doesnt then it should help in reducing clutch pressing pain during slow moving traffic jams, and also should help learners by not letting engine turn off.

It helps during downshift by controlling rpm fluctuations that are caused by sudden down shifts and in turn prevents the wheel lock .
The kick backs you have mentioned are hard to understand and basically such thing happens with improper shift technique.

The thing that you are describing is called engine braking. It is most prominent in first and second gear.
To answer your question, No. A slipper clutch does not effect engine braking at lower speeds during slow moving traffic jams. you will have to use the proper clutch and throttle control to keep the bike moving smoothly.
