Ya its pretty normal in all higher displacement bikes dont worry... the small xtra rattle when in neutral with clutch released comes from the clearance between the plate outer tabs and fingers of the clutch basket...though the explanation is not mine as i found this wen i was worried abt the sound n googled in panic...u can also try and ull fine dat its present in all bikes from a clunky davidson to a refined r1...

Hello People! :-)
Recently Arun Bajaj guys at Nagpur formed a whats app group and were inviting Dominar owners in the city to get the latest ECU update.
They say that its file #116 which according to them improves performance, distributes torque in a more refined fashion in the 1st & 2nd gear. However the only downside being that the mileage of the bike is said to have decreased.

Has anyone of you got this update in your respective cities? And if so - how was your riding experience post the update?

Svc advised for oil topup but I insisted on getting new oil fill.
All the basic things are done at the service.
Oil change , oil filter, washing full chain clean and battery terminals lubrication(to prevent rust and acid).
Total bill is 1279 INR including gst. They charged for chain clean and lubrication this time which was free at first service.

Now for the new ECU updates.
Yes there is another update available file 116 for abs and 117 for non abs. I got mine updated with file 116. There is good Change in the character of the bike now. In gear acceleration is better than before I usually use 5th gear at 65kmph but today post update i was using only 3rd without the engine feeling any kind for stress.
And whatever jerks were present at lower gears are completely gone now and bike feels happy to go all the way in each gear.

Basically as per svc this update is only for the owners facing lag jerks and missing but i still got it done and yes there is improvement in overall feel.
And i recommend every owner should get this update.

Noted one more thing and would advice every one to do the same which is to clean the front sprocket at least once a month or at every second chain clean as it is a compact space and there is lot of muck which gets collected there and can make the bike chain run heavy and can result in some pulling kind of feel.

Bajaj is really working on this bike.

Overall everything is going good and smooth.
Below are pics of service invoice and random early morning pic of the Mockingbird.
Hey Guys,
Just got my Domi's 2nd service done 2 days back but yet to get ECU update (non availability of mechanic due to Eid)..with the 2nd oil change, the 4-5k vibes have reduced a lot..but just a question, does the 116 update affects the FE too? Asking coz if the power delivery has become a bit linear then makes me wonder if it may positively affect the FE too..
Also, plz advise how to fix the rattling of the tank's auxiliary display as I am irritated to the bone by it.. shout out to Ijs bro, plz help what to tell the svc guy to do to fix it for good..they insist on doing some jugaad but I want a permanent fix..plz help

Bhai i experience a marginal increase in the FE post the new Update.
Bring your bike to bagga link Karol bagh and tell them to fix double sided tape on the under side of the tank cove and re fix the rubber mounts before r fixing it back. There are 3 places where the tape should be fixed. Tell the mechanic (shivdayal ) to do what he has done on Neeraj bhai's bike.
Or just simply ask your local svc to do it if they are not doing it you can ask Amar to look into the matter.
I would find the reference pics and would send you on whatsapp.

Yes got the 116 few days back 1st and 2nd gear a bit more smoother then before. And on the contrary i experienced a marginal increase in the fe. Throttle feel is little heavy then before.

Which one are you mentioning? Honda is famous for that actually. Then comes Yamaha and Suzuki. Also, Dominar is their flagship model. I own a Pulsar 220 but I am looking forward to getting Dominar too. Maintaining two shouldn't be a big problem I guess. The numbers might not be chart burning but they have sold a lot of Dominars and it is there to stay for long.

But still u buy a bike worth 2 lakhs and u get so many problems with it like power lag, vibrations, spongy brakes are some common problems of dominar which some of my friends mentioned who have bought it. I have test ride the bike its awesome and it suits me . The place where i reside has two bajaj showrooms and r known for bad services,I told them i will buy the bike only if they provide me the ecu update. But i was surprised to know that they dont even know the full form of ECU . These r some factors which r really getting me confused.

Buying a bike is not just about putting down money and getting the metal+Fibre thing home. I agree with you on that. There are DIY solutions for some of the issues you mentioned like rattling. In new batches, these problems are solved and it pretty much is gone. You've solutions for spongy brakes too. Availability of good ASS is prerequisite for any vehicle purchase. Do try to find out if there are any other Bajaj outlets nearby. I've read about people who bought bikes and travel to another city to get it serviced.

Many or the remote sites have shared similar concerns. I am from Pune. Base of Bajaj and yet I get frustrated by their service.
I would still say that the bike is worth the money with service issues as just one, single niggle.
But consider this, if Bajaj cant service properly, anything above their level will not be any better.
I suggest gixxer ABS as an alternate. its a capable commuter with decent performance quotient. will never compare to Dominar but effective for most of Indian buyers.
if you can delay, wait till this year and see how things unfold. Dominar is definitely a building block towards a better Indian bike scene.

Yes gixxar is good but with single channel ABS only.My brothers in rides can anyone tell me whether the EBC brake pads for dominar will be a good solution for spongy brakes w/o hampering rotor discs.

First of all. Breaks are not spongy.
Second, Many of us have encountered life threatening situations and lived to tell that the breaks/abs saved my neck.
So either you have unrealistic expectations or you comparing her with 390 again. And if this is true, then you won't be happy with anything else. Dominar comes closest 2nd by design; to keep KTM's grace in market. Shed a few kilos the table will turn.

Seems to me you have already made up your mind. No matter what anyone tells you please use your instincts. If you go to a Yamaha thread you will find its supporters there, same in the Honda thread and same in the RE thread.

If you are already having second thoughts about the purchase, I can guarantee you, you will have severe buyer's remorse afterwards. Yes, Bajaj does have some crappy Service Centres but then there are good ones too. You already know the features of the bike and its price. I can tell you from experience that some pre NS 200 bikes had inherent problems but since the past 5 years Bajaj does build bikes which last and dont lose power. Like me all a owner has to do is get it regularly serviced.

Your call.

I've done almost 2k on my domi and except for the slight vibes at 4.5 k rpm. I'm very happy with the vehicle. Brakes are great. And I've not experienced any loss of power. And FYI, my previous bike was a ninja 650 on which I did about 20 k kms.
