But i think as long as there is no drastic fluctuations or rpm staying locked at one point ,it not a issue. Still do insist on getting the throttle body cleaned up at the service.

Heard the same thing from few other owners but never have this in my bike.Originally posted by sam.jit2008 View Post

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I noticed the same, and when I asked bajaj SC, they said it is a way of preventing the engine from stalling. They even said this allows us to simply leave the clutch slowly without applying any throttle and get the bike moving without stalling.Originally posted by sam.jit2008 View Postrpm does not stuck at a particular point it tends to rise only when clutch lever is pressed i.e. upto 2.5 thousand rpm and goes to normal within 2 to 3 sec i.e. 1.5 thousand rpm. It occurs in all gears.

I think gear oil is best. In my previous bike R15 i used to put this oil and it lasts for at least 400 - 450 km. Now i am using motul for my Domi and it lasts hardly 300 km.Originally posted by Ijs View PostAny which is easily available, like rolon, 3m, waxpol, nulon, motul ,tvs or the generic lube. Or u can also use ep 90 grade gear oil.

The brake fluid is transparent and it will look like there is nothing. And to clear your suspicion, the brakes wont even work if the master cylinder was empty.Originally posted by Panzerfaust5388 View PostYes. From the outside i couldnt see any liquid. Will get it checked from the svc tomorrow. Hope its not something serious.
Thank you for your prompt response.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I have noticed this behaviour in my bike as well. Rpm being stuck at 2k rpm while clutching. And stays as it is at 2k if my speed is above 10kmph. The moment it goes below 10, rpms falls back to 1.5Originally posted by sam.jit2008 View Postrpm does not stuck at a particular point it tends to rise only when clutch lever is pressed i.e. upto 2.5 thousand rpm and goes to normal within 2 to 3 sec i.e. 1.5 thousand rpm. This behaviour is regardless of bike being in gear or neutral. You can verify in your dominar as well.
Similar behaviour i had seen in 2008 Pulsar 220 Dtsfi, Bajaj’s first FI bike. Rpm used to rise to 2k without opening throttle, the moment you slot the bike in gear.
I believe this is some mechanism in ECU provided by bajaj deliberately to solve any stalling issues or any use case that we cannot think of but the engineers would have thought of it.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I did the second service today.I asked them to fill motul 10w50. Also did the ecu update. Bike is buttersmooth now. All problems rectified.Originally posted by DJD View PostI doubt the service guys might have filled 20W50 instead of 10W50 during first service. Few days back i got a call from my SA and he was telling that at around 3k - 3.5k KM i must go for second servicing coz bajaj engine oil is good for roughly 2.5 to 3k KM.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I too facing same, the rpm stucks to 2500rpm even if clutch is fully pressed sometimes after 4-5sec it comes to 1500rpm and sometimes it stucks to 2500 rpm.Originally posted by sam.jit2008 View PostDoes anyone have the problem of engine rpm rising to 2500 when the clutch is pressed while slowing down? I am facing such issue. I purchased my bike on 27th october 2017 and the problem is there from day 1. Whether it is common to all the dominars or it is a problem. Does it requires ecu update. Since i had purchased it on oct'17 the bike may come with latest updated ecu or not.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
In comparison to 220 the dominar is very refined. Minimal vibes. The Dominar is heavy but as you ride it u get used to it. Driving in the city with such high power needs some control. The Dominar excels in almost everything which the previous gen pulsars made a mess. Lovely bike. Love itOriginally posted by rvibin View PostCongrats mate. Could you please share your feedback in comparision to the P220 in terms of vibration, refinement, heaviness while driving inside the city etc.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Happy sunday,
Experience after 1 st service
Service
1st attempt- issues mentioned tank vibration, coolant pump seepage, handle bar vibration.
Great bajaj svc just changed oil and oil filter. Nothing fixed
2nd attempt- tightened bolds in coolant pump and engine mount .. Still issue
3rd attempt - I personally tried to reach mechanic who works on dominar. Informed all my issues. Luckily he was helpful and asked me to leave a bike for a day.
Effort made- tightened all the bolds, Taps under tank to damp vibs, rubbed metal in foot pegs to damp vibration.
Gasket to stop coolant pump seepage.
Bajaj Spare is not available so paid for ktm coolant pump o ring

Result- wow...felt real dominar feel after 900kms of riding
It's smooth as cbr250 until 5 k rpm. Gear shifting butter smooth. Only then I realised why people praising dominar. Soo happy with its performance.
Only down side after riding my bike in heavy traffic approx 40 km in chennai.
I noticed the seepage in coolant pump again. Why god why???
I am going to take my bike to svc tomorrow.
Any advise/ suggestion regarding this seepage issue..

jagaddjag - is the seepage too much? I ain't technically inclined, but perhaps the machining of the surfaces isn't that great in bajaj - KTM, or the gaskets are of low quality.
Topping up coolant from time to time is fine as long as the seepage/disappearance is minor.

Seepage in that picture was shot after riding 40 km in heavy traffic (fan/cooling pump should be working atleast 30 mins)Originally posted by leech View Postjagaddjag - is the seepage too much? It won't be any problem until I take domi for a long ride like 500 plus kms..
But still kinda incomplete feel in my new bike with this issue. So i am looking for a suggestion to fix, so I convey the same to svc guy.

Get the gasket fixed using fixing bond that should resolve it and also get the banjo bolt checked if it is rhw banjo one visible in the pic.Originally posted by jagaddjag View PostSeepage in that picture was shot after riding 40 km in heavy traffic (fan/cooling pump should be working atleast 30 mins)
