It's 2800 kms for my Domi now. The distance covered is a mix of short highway rides of about 200kms round trips and my office commute which is approx 100 kms round trip. Yesterday, on my way to home, I was cruising at around 80-85 kmph on the Mumbai - Nashik highway and suddenly a pothole came and I went through it.

As I went further, I came accross a lone road where there are hardly any vehicles and you can listen every beat of you engine. There I heard slight screeching sound coming from my Domi. The sound was similar to the dry chain sound. However, I lubricate my chain before every ride with Motul C2 chain lubricator.

Also, I discovered that this sound was only occurring whenever I used to go beyond 35-40 kmph. I called up my friend and asked him to follow me and tell me if he hears the sound too. He said that the sound was coming from rear wheel and we are suspecting that the rear wheel liner is making that sound, as it came almost everytime I tried to stop the bike using rear brakes.

Have anyone of you came across same issue? As far as I know, changing the Liner will take at or around 6-7k kms.
Planning to visit the SVC - Ulhasnagar this weekend.
Update on this -

Went to SVC and poof.. No sound from rear wheel . The manager asked me to ride for 4-5 more kms and come back if the sound appears again. Rode for almost 35-40 kms in a mixed condition - mild traffic to stop and go traffic to Highway run with maximum use of rear brakes and no sign of sound even under hard braking. Went home and just before stopping in the parking lot, heard the sound. Again, went for short 4-5 kms spin and sound was gone. Strange..!! Left the bike in parking.

Yesterday, took her for a wash. Cleaned the chain thoroughly with Motul C1 chain cleaner, brush and cloth, lubed it thoroughly with Motul C2 Chain lubricant. Went for a short spin for about 3-4kms, and left in the parking.

Today morning, rode for approx 50kms for office in Andheri east with mild and heavy traffic and highway runs. No sound heard yet. Brakes are performing well. And yes 30 kms to go for 3000 kms odo reading.
It doesn't matter what you ride. What matters is, You Ride.

I got my Matte black Dominar on 1st Dec, from Amba bajaj, Bommanhalli,Bangalore.
My dad paid the full amount through DD on Tuesday(28th Nov), they told us it would take upto 2 working days for the DD to get cleared, up until the Friday afternoon they kept on telling it wasn't cleared yet, the DD providing bank told us that it was cleared on Wednesday, the salesman said he would keep me posted but wouldn't even bother to send me a text message.
After numerous back to back calls to the attending salesman and showroom reception, I was finally told that DD was cleared and the bike would be ready for delivery by 4 p.m
I reached the showroom by 4:15 PM, the entire delivery process was soo sloppy, at first there is only one person finalizing the documents of the bikes ready for delivery, my document folder was misplaced, when they eventually found it, I was asked to make a payment of 1700 INR, the DD was for the exact amount quoted by the salesman, after inquiry they told me it was for IND plates(salesman told me he would give them for free along with Teflon coating). I was in a hurry (the Purhoit said it's not favorable to do pooja after sunset ) so I did not ask any questions and made the payment. The lady gave me a slip and sent me to third floor, I told the person over there that I was in a hurry yet he took his own time to move other bikes before sending my bike to basement for delivery. I was sent to basement again to collect the bike, no slip this time whatsoever, again at basement there is one single person delivering the bikes (also explaining basic things like self, indicators, gears etc.).
I was really surprised how they did not ask for any documents or verification before giving me the keys to a 2 lkh INR bike.
It was already 5:30 PM and I just checked if the turn signals, break lights and engine number before rushing off for pooja.
To be honest I was expecting some kind of delivery ceremony from the sales team, but in reality it was like picking back the bike form service.
At this point I was soo agitated and remember this was the first time I was riding the Dominar, did not even take a test ride before.
The weight of the bike was apparent but within the first kilometer i got the hang of it ,my frustration was gone and now there was this wide grin on my face.
I got to ride only for 25 kms and since it's raining non stop for 3 days I couldn't take the bike anywhere. I loved riding it every bit soo far and pretty sure will continue to love riding this beautiful bike.

Just follow regular run in procedures. Read the manual once.
I went to collect the Manual and Road tax receipt today, my attending salesman was present today and apologized for being away during the bike delivery. Two other people (one of them was manager I think)took their time to clearly explain dos and don'ts of the bike, service intervals, recommended fuel and other things. This certainly made me regain the trust of Amba bajaj,Bangalore.I hope they continue to do the same in future and avoid any mishaps at all.
+1 for Amba bajaj.
P.S: Ask for dominar specialist if you are interested in Dominar. He was my attending salesman. Can call him Dominar guru as well.

Congrats bro.. Dominar is actually pretty good in rainy seasons. Provided you keep the tyre pressure good. the best thing is you forget how bad the sales and service is once you start riding it. you probably will have to see them on rare occasions but still manageable.
Just wondering why book without knowing what you buying? I mean, not even a test ride?
now join one of the local dominar groups. wishing you sedate 2000 KMs and explosive runs after that! do ride safe

Congrats Vivek!
I too got a matte black on 1st December. I have few issues/observations on the bike, and wanted to see if you face them too.
1. The gearbox makes a "thud" sound while upshifting to 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. It is very annoying & painful to hear that!
2. Screw driver is missing in the toolbox
3. The switchgear on the handle bar is bit loose(on both left and right sides). I tried tightening with a star screw driver, but even after they were tightened to their maximum, the thing was moving!

Please let me know if you (or anyone else) face these issues and possible solutions. Thanks!

1 point one is normal this thud in first gear would always remain but other gears would get smooth with usage.

2&3 Not normal there is one screw driver in the kit and the switch gear is not lose get this checked up.

I have a rather dumb question,
So i keep hitting my legs with either the gear lever or break lever when pushing while being on the bike, the foot pegs and levers are very wide and i am not a short person.
Anyone else having this weird issue?

1.Yes the first two gear shifts are pretty loud and down shifts are very hard, I am hoping it will go away eventually or I might learn to live with it.
2. Now that you mention it, I never checked the tool kit, have to check it first thing in the morning.
3. Ask the svc to fix it or replace it, switch assembly should not be that loose!

Check if the swing-arm rubber padding is rubbing the chain(on the side part of the chain)
That was the issue with my bike

Hi

Those thud sounds will become a lot less when you cross your running in period. 1st gear thud will remain for quite a long time though. Thats present on a lot of bikes, and the larger the capacity, the heavier the sound. 2nd and 3rd gears will become clicks instead of thuds. Just forget those things and enjoy the motorcycle. Its a lot of fun.
I can confirm my switchgear on the right side moves slightly when i press the start button. This is not uncommon and was also reported in the overdrive review of the dominar.

Thanks Parshu for the response. I have booked a test ride for this Friday. Planning to do a short local ride in the city first. And based on how it goes they said that they will be ok with a long ride. However just as a safety measure I have asked my friend to loan his bike for 6 months.

Thanks BKB for taking the time to pass your wisdom. I am planning to take a test ride based on what couple of forum members suggestion. Worst case, if that doesn't work out, I am planning to ride my friend's pulsar for 6 months or so and then look at Dominar again. Thanks again.
Thanks bkb, Parshu and Jerry_E for the guidance. I did test drive the bike and I loved it. As many mentioned the gear shifts + acceleration were linear. I am planning to do a long drive next week and still debating getting my friend's bike for few months and then switch to Dominar.

I was told at the dealership that they are getting only black and white color Dominat these days.

Meantime if you are delaying your plan to get dominar please do check for TVS Apache RR 310 incase if you like full fairin bike.

However on your dealership query for colours, please do check with other dealers at your location as dealers play these tactics to get rid of their unsold goods (bikes) and get their inventory clear before ordering new stock.

No bhai plz don't, colour matching is an issue and , it makes the bike looks fat.
Invest in good riding gear and spend on fuel and enjoy the ride.
