The oil leak in case of her was due to oil filter gasket. After I forcibly asked the Bajaj svc to change it they did it and the leak got arrested.
Also if u spray too much chain lube the residue may also leak onto the engine casing so check for that.
      Ride Safe!

Glad to report that gearbox 'thud' noise while upshifting to 2nd and 3rd is gone after 700kms of riding!

It doesn't reduce vibrations. sole purpose of risers is to make riding posture more upright. I also have phone holder installed but it doesn't buzz as it has a thick rubber strip at the mount point.

The rear brakes are useless. Iam running out of excuses myself to justify the poor braking capabilities of the rear brake.

With the winter setting in the leather break pad tends to get hard , clean the pads with mild sand paper and see if it works or not.
Also make a habit to clean the disk rotor with moist cloth once or twice a week and if there is too much black rubbery stuff on it then use mild sand paper but do not get overbroad.
Breaking is perfect on this thing and the rear is kept soft to aid the front. U can't stop a bike only on rear break. Use rear only while crawling or to aid front. The break ratio should be 70:30 f:r.

I have a Abs bike but used it without Abs for around 2 weeks as my abs sensor was gone and i only locked rear wheel twice. Never face any breaking issues. I use 70:30 front rear

Dealer said there is no spare available in chennai and I need to live with this cracked leakage engine case until the replacement part reach their delearship 😏😏😏😏..

*I dont know how on earth bajaj quality check team approved this cracked engine for production.
                  Update on this issue.

Tried my best to get the whole engine replaced under warranty, but bajaj keen on replacing the defective part alone.

Reached regional bajaj service manager I guess ; Mr stalin, he took the ownership of this issue after hearing my concern with defective engine case.

Svc took 10 days (5 days for spare arrival and 5 days to replace the part) to replace the right inner engine case after lots of phone calls and follow up..

They poured new engine oil and tried to charge me for the engine oil alone, i didnt agree to pay for that. Finally svc agreed to provide everything under warranty.

It's been 3 days everything looks fine.

                  Finger crossed

                  Kind advice

Purchase dominar 400 only from authorised bajaj dealer. (Check dominar bajaj website )

If you think parts to get replaced to get the issue fixed then lodge an official complaint in bajaj website (email no use) before visiting svc . Because svc don't treat you well if there is no push from bajaj itself.
                  --------

Now my question is should I run in the bike again for 2000 kms?

                  (Right inner engine case replaced)
Svc didnt gave a proper ans for this
Note- My bike odo is 1400 km now

Good thing the part is replaced. You have already taken care of riding on a new engine just do that for 600kms more to complete your 2000kms. And it is good that you got the new oil for free. No need to start from zero.

Somebody tried to pull the cable , but there was no visible damage so yes it is now replaced under warranty.

                    • Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread

I had been waiting to pen this down since I got the Dominar 400 in the month of November. I was always crazy about thrill and adrenaline rush that motorbikes gave me. My father had always been switching between bikes and he had been a Bajaj Fan since the start of time. He owned an M80, Bajaj Boxer, Bajaj BYK, CT100, Platina. I had been riding bikes from a very young age. I learnt riding on a Hero Honda CD100 and polished my skill on a Pulsar 150 both borrowed from a cousin.

Fast forward to 2011, I had now saved up some money and was in the market to buy a bike. I wished to buy a pre-owned bike having the Vitamin M factor in mind. I had around 30ks saved up and was looking for a decent Rx-100. My mother was not happy with it, and advised me to buy a new bike on loan. I was very happy with my mother’s approval to buy something on loan as my family is always against taking loans. I had shortlisted the FZs, Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 180. With 30ks for Down payment I went to a local Sub Dealer who happened to be an old friend. He advised me against going for any of them as Pulsar 220 was the hot selling cake of that time. I had a good run with the 220f for 3years.The year was 2014 now I was ready for something new, I had set my eyes on the KTM duke 200. I was again advised against the Austrian as it would be a very high maintenance machine and complaints had been coming in for it. I chose the Bajaj NS200, I couldn’t do much with this bike. It was only used for my daily commute. I was scared to push this machine to the limits as I was used to the faired protective shell of 220f against the windblast. The NS200 would sway if I tried to push the bike above 80kmph. Within the first 7months I sold it off as I was in love with the new KTM RC200. I went for a test ride and as I rode the bike for the first 5mins came back with awful pain in the wrists. So RC200 was off charts because I would be risking my back as I would be using the bike for daily commute as well. While looking for a new bike, I came across a weird machine on road, it was a Bumblebee Yellow colored machine and it said Pulsar RS200. I was super excited to see the bike on road as it was a recent launch. I had been expecting an RS400 but instead it was a 200cc machine. I couldn’t complain as I was happy about its existence. I knew this had to be the one, I didn’t think once while booking this machine, I didn’t have to wait for it as the official waiting period was 90days. I bought it from my Sub-Dealer friend by paying a premium of 10ks for it. The very next day the bike was at my doorstep and me giggling as a 16year old girl. The Bumblebee was with me from 2015 to 2017 and yes, I did enjoy the time spent with this mad machine as it introduced me to touring. I did a solo ride of Mumbai –Indore–Ujjain-Nashik-Mumbai with my Bumblebee. I was kind of very happy with the performance, but my heart and mind wanted more and more.

I was in Pune when the Dominar 400 was launched. I was happy seeing Bajaj coming out of its comfort zone and knocking the doors down in the 400cc to 600cc dominated arena of imports and sister company KTM. I went down to a showroom in Pune to see the Beast. Yes! I was right Pune being the manufacturing city for Bajaj, it was available for display and test Ride. I was surprised as the test rides were easily available, back in Mumbai I had registered for the test ride but never got a call. The test ride was amazing. I pulled the bike on a small empty stretch and could hear the Lion roar under me. I knew that this was a new type of Beast in the Bajaj line – up. The genes matched with the KTM’s but were different from it. I had a bad experience with a naked bike and was scared to take the risk this time. I left Pune and came back to Mumbai to do another test ride. To my amazement the bike wasn’t available here for test rides. I let the thought of buying this bike rest.

Enter the KTM duke 390 2017, this thing blew me away. Such an awesome design. I watched everything read every bit available on the internet about this bike, I was smitten away. I start calling up dealers here in Mumbai and everybody turned me down for a test ride. I couldn’t risk it, it was a matter of 2.5lacs. I was looking for Pillion comfort too and being KTM not so famous for their pillion seating I had to have a test ride. Nobody in Pune or Mumbai was offering test rides. Only one reason, the test ride bikes hadn’t been delivered. I tried to call up my friend and asked him for the pricing with the premium for instant delivery. He said there were no test ride vehicles yet and the price for instant delivery would be 40ks more over the OTR price. It was a rip off, how do you want us to trust a product blindly without even test riding the machine. This thing put me off and I stopped chasing the KTM Duke 390. I was still looking for a big bike. I didn’t wish to spend around 3.5lacs on a Benelli, it made no sense for me as it was a naked machine and heavy too for me as I had done a test ride. If not satisfied with the Naked, I would have to sell the bike which would be another task. My mind then turned towards a memory which was a bit dull and then happened the Dominar 400. I went to the market on a lookout for the Dominar 400, I did my research here on xBhp, YouTube. Many bad things were highlighted on YouTube, many good things were highlighted here on xBhp (not that negatives were not highlighted) but it was heart over mind. I booked the Dominar 400 white in color.

I was so excited, I asked my dealer friend If I could go and pickup the Bike from the warehouse and he agreed. The day had dawned, a wait for 2days after booking the bike as the auspicious day was decided by me. The warehouse was a good 60kms (Bhivandi) away from the showroom. It was a direct dealer stockyard, there were many bikes there including my first love KTM Duke390. I ignored the fact that there were KTMs standing to be delivered, said next time to it and started the process of selection. There were numerous of Dominar 400s available there. All that was left is choose. It was a difficult one as all of them looked similar, no issues, no signs of usage or abuse. I chose a bike, found a small gap between the Pillion and Rider seat, Bike was changed. The other bike didn’t have any such issues. I was happy with the inspection and patted myself for following the PDI video uploaded by the renowned YouTuber Vikas Rachamalla. Battery, Mirrors etc. were installed, Fuel was filled. I started the bike and after two minutes of Idling I was instructed to do a small test ride. I did the test ride, there were no KMS on the bike, I was happy that it would only be me that will ever ride this bike. I noticed some smoke coming from the engine area, I suspected the plastic bubble wrap on the Engine/Leg guard must be melting. I was told that the bike has been started for the first time and it was normal. I wasn’t satisfied with the answer and sat down to check where the smoke was coming from meanwhile the bike was running. The smoke was coming from a pipe that connected the exhaust from the Engine. The smoke was not much, and it stopped within the next few minutes. Now was the ride towards home on the Ghodbunder Thane highway. I was quite familiar with the run in as I had done my thorough research. I was expecting traffic but to my surprise there was little to moderate traffic. I didn’t push the bike, I rode it to speeds like 65 to 70 keeping the Rpm factor in mind. Reached home did the Pooja, have run the bike for a good 1750 KMS now. I did a breakfast ride to Vandri Lake and back (200kms) and the bike performed like a breeze.
The break in was a soft break in with mostly highway runs. First service is done no issues with the bike. I am writing this from the office computer as I don’t have anything else to do. I will be posting pictures soon. Next ride is Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai for the India Superbike Festival, hit me up if you’re going to be there. Will certainly meet you at the festival. It’s my pleasure being a part of the xBhp family. Thank you to the moderators and admins and sorry for this long post.

What's the chain sprocket change interval i know it depends upon riding condition but still want to know that ? As well as how will we make it that when to change the sprocket ?

15 to 20k kms depending upon the conditions and if u r regular with chain maintenance then would last little more.
Sprocket teeth would show signs of wear and it give slip kind of feel while riding and chain would get lose after short interval.
