Picked up my matte black Dominar today. I am getting back on two wheels after a gap of 2 years, had a CBR 250 prior to that. I am finding the bike to be very vibey, hopefully things settle down after a few hundred kilometers.

Yes it is worth every rupee you pay. Apart from mild engine vibrations in 4.5 to 5k zone which is normal with large single cylinder engines and some vibrations in plastic parts all is good. Bike is a able handler and loves to be revved hard on open roads. And it gets sweeter once you past 5k rpm.
Equally enjoyable in city to , very easy to filter traffic and do pavement riding.

Tvs Apache 310rr also has vibrations in higher revv zone and has 32 different plastic parts for the info. And is also a very promising bike if one is looking for faired bike. But again rc390 or duke 390 makes more sense to me if I am crossing 2lakh mark for a bike.
For me Dominar is the best bet below 2 lakh and is worth everything you pay. Abs works like charm and tyres are also good enough.

Yes the vibrations would settle down with usage and service go in for early first service as soon as u hit 500kms get it done. Also tell them to tighten the 3 engine mounting bolt and gear lever and break paddle. Be regular with oil change get it changed at every service at least for first 3.
But keep in mind that in the zone of 4.5 to 5k rpm some vibrations would always remain.
And most importantly do a proper run in stay below 5k rpm till the run in is over.

          Hi Arjun,

It is absolutely not possible to tell your friend with complete conviction which bike is better. A better bike is one which above all else is reliable. The Apache hasnt even hit the streets yet and hence no one can predict how reliable it will be. I am not a pessimist but its best to wait at least 6 months and watch. Let the ownership reviews pour in and then ask your friend to make a decision.

If he has to make a purchase now, then the Dominar is a no brainer. The major issue was with regards to the throttle lag but thankfully Bajaj addressed it within 3 months of the complaints starting. Now, for an Indian manufacturer this is actually pretty good (not being biased). It was a quick and thankfully permanent fix which did not take more than 20 mins. The bike is vibey in 4 - 5K rpms but that is about the only bad feature. Gladly, the bike is not un reliable and people have been taking it all across the country and beyond to prove its credentials. So please ask your friend that if he is truly interested in the TVS, he should wait for at least 6 months and see "ownership reviews". No offence to anyone here, but many of the auto journalists are pretty biased. Unless experienced first hand dont blindly subscribe to the reviews.

At first I thought it was the signs of clutch cable snapping( when a couple of fibers snap you get this loose clutch cable feel).
I don't know if I explained the problem very well, but if anyone else experienced the issue, please do let me know how it was fixed?
Not a Dominar owner but have rode D400 for close to 1500 kms. When you downshift at times, you will feel as if the clutch wire is gonna break. Same when you upshift at times. There's a cling! I have felt the same when riding my friend's N300. Guess what, not as much as these two bikes but even while riding my Ninja 1000 there is that similar feedback. I think it's common across slipper clutch bikes. Can't say for sure, but there is nothing to worry about. I have got used to it now.

                Hey Everyone !

Got the white one delivered on Monday evening from Khivraj, Bangalore. And got the Number fixed on Tuesday(Just now) evening - that's pretty fast I must say.

I would like to share few experiences I had in first 24 hours:

                1. Engine heats up pretty considerably. But I've ridden mostly in heavy traffic and moreover the bike is brand new - so should settle up with time.
                2. Coming from TB350 to Dominar, I got shoulder and neck pain in first day of riding. Need to get habituated with the new posture.
                3. My claws and palms are paining while holding the clutch and the handlebar. Owners please comment if clutch is this tight always or will ease up with services.
                4. Haven't got the manual - they told to collect with number, but I forgot to ask. Maybe on Saturday I will go and get.
                5. They've included RSA in the B2B insurance I took. Please let me know if everyone got this.
                6. Overall experience from Khivraj Kasturba road have been pretty good to me. So it took total 50 hours for me to book, take delivery and get the number plate fixed to the bike.
                7. They've fixed/limited the RPM to 5k it seems. The guy told me that it'll be released after 2000kms - is it standard for all owners ?

Please do let me know your feedback.

                Thanks.

I felt the same initially that the clutch wire will break now, it's been 11k kms and clutch is absolutely fine.

First of all congrats on your new bike. Make sure to run in properly.

                    1. Engine does heat up in traffic but does not overheat or anything. It's just Normal and will reduce after the bike settles down.

                    3. Clutch is slightly on the tighter side if you ask me. Get your clutch play checked during your first service.

                    7. Rpm isn't actually locked. The over REV indicator kicks in as early as 5.5k rpm to remind you that you're bike is still in run in period (You can still rev it upto it's max RPM which is totally not recommended). This will go off as soon as you hit 2k KMs.

                    Have fun riding!

Asking for my brother who's a daily commuter. I've few cans of 20w50 at home which I bought for my D390 and bro's Dominar is due for 1st service.

I have been facing a peculiar issue with my Dominar. It has run 5000 kms in 10 months and finished 2nd service 2 months ago where in it received the latest ECU update. I was having a lot of problems with throttle lag and thankfully that was rectified with the update.

However the issue I have been facing since the past 3 weeks is that the bike keeps stalling whether in Neutral, 1st or 2nd Gear. Even If I am stationary at traffic lights and am in neutral with the clutch fully released it happens. If I suddenly reduce speed at roundabouts and am slipping the clutch, the throttle cuts out. At this point I would like to clarify that I have been riding since 15 years and the issue is not with my riding. Also the bike was not stalling in the first 8 months and also after the ECU update, this is a recent development. I have tried getting fuel from different petrol pumps but that is not the issue. I always let the bike idle for a minute before putting it in gear and moving so cold start is also not the culprit. Mine is the first batch.

Anyone out there facing this? I am yet to visit the service centre as I will have to take a leave from work so I have to plan it out. I am open to suggestions.
                          Hi Everyone,

I have an update on this issue. I gave my bike to the SVC on Monday evening - 18th December. The SVC was getting closed at that time but next morning when the SVC guy rode the bike he confirmed the issue. It has been 2 days and the people there have tried cleaning the throttle body and checked the fuel sensors and I just got a call from them saying that they are now asking for support from Bajaj since they are not certain how to proceed. I can appreciate their honesty at least and hope it is nothing serious. The SVC guy I talked to says that they may send custom settings for my particular bike but then he isnt sure. He said there are 6 - 7 other sensors as well whose settings may have to be changed but that will come from the company. As of now he is not sure as to how much time this will take.

Slightly bummed out by this since I practically ride my bike everyday and had a ride planned for the weekend. 10 months in and already second issue cropped up. Will update you all when the solution comes up. Till then if anyone is unfortunate enough to face the above issue, please do not dismiss it and take it to the showroom immediately.

I would request DOC group admins to keep an eye out for this.

Not the right grade but will work and make sure to check level at every 2000kms as 20w50 burns at a faster rate on this engine few have already used it. The actual oil grade is 10w50 fs. And if i am not wrong 20w50 is semi synthetic. But it would work.

Did they open the clutch unit, and did they check bike for pressure lock inside the tank. There are 2 rubber washers inside the tank cap have to open the cap from under side to remove those, it is thing to try to release the pressure lock inside the tank as those little things can be blocked.
