    Hi Apurva,

As pointed out by another rider, try to keep that wrist restricted till the run in. That being said, unless your RPM has been capped/limited by the SVC, I think something is wrong. Even in 5 th gear at full throttle the bike crosses 135 kmph. I had read on the forum a few weeks back that Bajaj had started implementing RPM limits in the bike till the first 2000 kms so that owners dont over cook the engine in the run in. Actually they wanted to prevent what you actually tried to do. I am not too sure about this.

Anyhow, like people say, better than second guessing, please ask the SVC guys to look into it. Though If I were you I would carefully word the statement that you were doing triple digit speeds on a bike which hasnt been run in yet in front of the SVC guys.

Hope your issue gets resolved. Please do update the thread when it happens.

There is a six gear don't forget that. Many people I've seen are still stuck to the 5th gear conundrum where they altogether forget that the motorcycle has a sixth gear. Top speed depends a lot on the amount of fuel in tank, road incline, wind resistance and what not. Try not to strain the engine by doing repeated top end tests during the break-in period (unless you follow the Motoman "Pat McGivern" Method). Take it easy, 300 is way too low for repeated top speed runs. What though is recommended here is varying RPMs say 6 to 8k RPMs when riding as opposed to a constant RPM which causes piston glazing. Vary RPM, hit the highs and lows of the RPM and use proper downshifting techniques, will come a long way to helping the engine bed in properly.

      Cheers!

      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

I have come to svc twice regarding this issue. And i am in the bajaj svc right now as i am writing this post trying to rectify the same. The first two times they just cleaned the brake pad. If this time this issue does not get rectified, i am planning to shoot a mail to Bajaj.
Even my bike does this sound, with my past experiences on 220, I thought it was due the breakpads being too tight.
Now that you mention it might have to take a closer look at it.

I know you are eager to test the top speed, So am I, was riding below 75kph till 500 kms, now at around 95kph(1000 kms on the odo) just bear with the first 2000 kms,
and from the recent videos that i watched on youtube suggest that rpm is limited to 8500 which is roughly 160 kph!

Took delivery of D400 Matte Black last Saturday. Couldn’t resist urge for a ride and the odo clocked 276kms within 32hrs of delivery. Curves temped a lot, but managed to keep the rev limit in break in period. Click image for larger version

If you need a reason to ride, you are not on the right bike.

Looks good but i think it is not available in 150/60 only till 140/70 is showing on the official site.

Sorry now showing only one size 150/60 and it does looks promising.

Hey guys, back again after 300kms.

I have been enjoying the way D4 pulls in mid range, even though being in the rev limits for running-in. Haven't touched 5k RPM yet, bit afraid to go there for first 1K odo. Have taken the bike to max 75kmph yet. I haven't felt more humiliated speed wise even when I had TB350 on highways :P

I have noticed one thing though, the smaller gears feel really short to me - at least the 1st and 2nd. Engine feels stressed. Can someone give me a post run-in figures of gears-speed within comfortable range ?

Also, yesterday an over enthusiastic honda city driver playing tetris in a traffic stop and trying to fill the air gap between my bike and his car knocked the rear red reflector off my bike. Had to let him go because he was over apologetic and I didn't want to create a scene in the mid of the road Bit disappointed but don't want to be part of road rage community for petty issues.

Can someone tell if the reflector is easily replaceable by self or I need to visit the service center?

Usually reflectors can be changed and it also depends on the design. Mostly reflectors are removable using a small 6 or 8 mm nut at the rear where they are cantilevered. The Dominar's rear rear reflector is held in place by two small plastic arms, and is held in place a by a nut. You can remove that, remove the old one and install a new one. Secondly with respect to shorter gears, different bikes have different tune of gear ratios. If you find the first two gears short, try shifting them through fast enough so that the meat of the power band along with the third gear is available throughout the shift.

It takes a some time to get adjusted to the shifting patttern, upgrading from the REs. Eventually you'll get the sweetspot.

                    Cheers!

Same here bro. The sound comes if i give a light press on the rear brake lever. Initially this sound was loud. Bajaj svc tried to clean the pads for 3 / 4 times. But the noise was still there. During my second service i told them to rectify the issue. So, this time they cleaned the rotor with sand paper and the sound was gone for one week. But again reappeared now. Good thing is now noise is very low and rarely it comes. I guess i need to clean the rotor myself.

It doesn't matter what you ride. What matters is, You Ride.

No No, wait and see, the link will be up in the next few days. I know its late. But better than never.

This time we have streamlined it even better, and most common problem - size. We have reduced it.
